Could be due to rising prices or crap choices these days. I'll go first -

Boden (increased price)
Baukjen increased prices)
H&M (too fast fashion)

Oasis, got taken over by a shit company.
Topshop, got too old.
Very, paid off my bill and never used it again! 😂

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 05/11/2022 13:43

Nomads - I think they’ve gone under.

Next for basics but the quality is the same as SHEIN which is far cheaper. Also our local one has a weird vibe.

Debenhams RIP

Starlitexpress · 05/11/2022 14:15

Chelsea Girl......I am very old, but gawd I loved that shop and listening to my mother it was too dark yo see anything properly.........I now say the same about Hollister!

MintJulia · 05/11/2022 14:18

JLP - they closed our local shop
Boden - increasing prices, reduced quality
H&M - ds is too big for their boys range, and the youth range is too 'street' for him.
White stuff - they changed their fit and now I'm the wrong shape.

mummabubs · 05/11/2022 14:20

Oasis and TopShop. Some time between 2012-2015 ish the prices went hugely up while the quality of the clothes simultaneously nose dived 🤦🏻‍♀️

QueenoftheAngles · 05/11/2022 14:22

Whistles sadly, last few things I’ve had haven’t been good quality and I got a gift card for my birthday that I couldn’t use online for some reason and they were spectacularly dismissive and unhelpful when I contacted them about it.

Arcadia · 05/11/2022 14:27

White Stuff - too samey and Mumsy now.
Agree Boden has got too expensive.

SwordToFlamethrower · 05/11/2022 14:27

I stopped shopping anywhere that has unisex changing rooms.

I find the idea of undressing anywhere with men walking about in the same space, deeply terrifying and unnerving. Sucks all the joy out of clothes shopping for me.

MotherOfFireBreathers · 05/11/2022 14:29

Most high street shops in the first instance tbh!

I'm completely addicted to Vinted.

Mozartinmyfanjo · 05/11/2022 14:31

Whistles, Reiss, Jigsaw - quality went downhill while prices went up.
Zara and H&M - fast fashion and poor quality
Banana Republic - since they moved to online only

VioletLemon · 05/11/2022 14:34

Same here. I haven't tried anything on in a shop for 6 or 7 years. Buy everything online, no big deal as I didn't enjoy shopping but deeply pissed off at the reason I've been kept out the changing rooms. Same with public toilets, unless it's a single lockable cubicle I can't go. Yes, it's limiting and contributes to MH issues too!

MumOfNowGrownupKids · 05/11/2022 14:37

French supermarkets. I moved back to UK.

Beanbagtrap · 05/11/2022 14:38

Boden, too expensive and fabrics have got worse quality

Phase eight, too expensive and used to do more for every day work wear and it all seems geared to mother of the groom now.

Dorothy Perkins used to do some nice dressed but now I don't know if I'm just older or if everything has got shorter but they don't seem very good for work.

Fat Face though I used to love them, then they went through 5 or so years when everything was dull and shapeless but I've just gone back to them as some of the dresses are really nice.

LimeCheesecake · 05/11/2022 14:38

Oasis - sadly. Still have some lovely pre-covid things from them in my wardrobe.

PurpleBirch · 05/11/2022 14:39

Bay Trading Company

Supersimkin2 · 05/11/2022 14:41

Whistles, which is infuriating cos the designs are great but the quality is too low.

I’ve gone to m and s and massimo Dutti instead.

Everywhere whose seasonal launch is a tsunami of polyester.

Beanbagtrap · 05/11/2022 14:41

PurpleBirch · 05/11/2022 14:39

Bay Trading Company

Omg yes! Loved 'bay' and pilot 🤣

ReedRite · 05/11/2022 14:43

Jigsaw - too expensive
Boden - too expensive and reduced quality
Oasis - went to shit

FourFourthsDontCare · 05/11/2022 14:43

Ooh, fun

White Stuff - came out of the post-baby/young child phase and….um…..reassessed how I was dressing.

Boden - too expensive for what it is, insane patterns, bit too ubiquitous.

Oasis - taken over by BooHoo (crap quality and DREADFUL ethics in what is, to be fair, a very poor field).

Next - only used them for the occasional pair of jeans but the fit and quality has changed (and not for the better). Now buy premium denim from eBay or on sale or am rewearing my own old stuff (especially my J Brand Lovestories from the early 00s).

Gap - less choice since it went online only plus I got tired of anything I liked being out of stock in my size.

Shein - not me but my daughter. My credit card is not being flexed in its derivative, ethically-very dubious direction ever again.

Still look at Jigsaw but haven’t bought anything for around 18 months. Really like Sandro, Maje, the odd bit of Ted Baker (although not all the polyester), ditto Reiss and - most of all - Sezanne. However, they are all so expensive that it’s easy not to buy much. Actually, am buying very very little that isn’t from Vinted, eBay, Poshmark and the like. Should probably stop doing that too……

blondiecurly · 05/11/2022 14:45

Debenhams and Peacocks are two stores that come to mind. Not sure if Peacock has permanently closed?

SparklyFoot · 05/11/2022 14:47

Next. Admittedly a long time a go now, but there was a time when almost everything I owned came from Next. Now even walking in the door is a thoroughly depressing experience.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/11/2022 14:50

Boden - Tories

White Company - Tories

Whistles - the quality has got worse and worse and the prices have gone up and up.

Jigsaw - ours closed down and the quality and sizing is too hit and miss to bother online. Only ever bought in the sales, other than t-shirts and camisoles.

H&M - tat

I really, really don't give a toss who's in the next changing rooms to me, assuming they're all lockable.

RedRiverShore2 · 05/11/2022 14:51

White stuff, quality not good, overpriced
Boden, don't like the styles now
Next, I do still shop the branded things from the directory sale pages though, had some good Seasalt bargains on there
