Could be due to rising prices or crap choices these days. I'll go first -

Boden (increased price)
Baukjen increased prices)
H&M (too fast fashion)

Oh and miss selfridge they were fab I'd say half my wardrobe was made up of them in my teens, I remember I had a fuschia pink real suede skirt that I literally lived in from them and I think I purchased it in sale for about £15 at the time (going back 15/20years ago) unbelievable quality!

The steep and rapid decline in quality of clothes and shoe shops means I rarely buy new anymore. Even though I sometimes have the money I just can’t find anything decent and if I do it’s just stupidly expensive.

I used to like:

Topshop before Philip Green decimated it.

French Connection when they used natural fabrics.

H&M we’re great for jeans & basics, now utterly dire.

John Lewis - loved to look in there but now awash with polyester.

Whistles when they were edgy, now like Hobbs.

I literally go out shopping now and find absolutely nothing. I’m clinging on to my very old good quality stuff from the High St when it wasn’t a rip off of shite and shop on Vinted & charity shops.

I agree with all of this.

I really miss Topshop, Oasis, Warehouse and the odd Miss Selfridge. We had them all under one roof in Debenhams and Outfit. It's not the same online, you pay a lot more for a lot less quality.

Yes I LOVED Outfit! Was so good to have all the brands under one roof, guaranteed to find something you liked.

Boden, Ted Baker, Monsoon, Next, Fat Face, white stuff......don't set foot in any of the stores or shop online either. Just moved on and lost interest in them all

windmill26 · 09/11/2022 22:30

Boden , too pricey
Hush, expensive considering the crappy quality
Gap, less choice now that it is online only
J.Crew,I still love a lot of their stuff but I don't want to pay import duty
Anything over £130 that comes from Europe...again import duty...thank you Brexit!

IncessantNameChanger · 09/11/2022 22:50

Debenhams 😪
I used to get a fair bit for the kids in the Boden sales, but like myself they don't seem.to be invited to parties any more. My friends have all turned into hermits since lockdown. Even my best friend didn't want to go out for her birthday and that was so e we did religiously for over a decade pre covid. On that basis I have decided there's no need to nice clothes if you don't do those kind if things any more

Where are those places that sell unique non fast fashion 🤔. For me it’s eBay , charity shops ( but even there a good, pre fast fashion natural fibre find is like a unicorn these days) and (in the sales only) agnes b.
