Having shorter hair is great!

I was always scared to cut my hair but recently thought 'oh sod it' , and had it cut from boob length to a mid length bob (between jaw and shoulders) probably about 10 inches off, and I love it!
It looks so much healthier, saves me time in the morning, easier to wash, my hair doesn't get in the way, trapped in bra straps etc. It also has gotten me noticed and compliments and I feel more stylish!
I've seen a lot of mumsnet threads saying you'll regret cutting your hair and it ages you....in my opinion it's the opposite! Maybe the case if you go very short ie. a pixie, no offence top anyone who does that, it can look amazing! But it wouldn't suit me as I have strong features.
But to cut it a bit shorter, bob etc= would totally recommend it!

The women are attractive with or without having a bob haircut though that’s the point.

and if you do look fabulous with a shaved head well great amazing, embrace it

Would you not feel attractive with shorter hair?

Would you not feel attractive with shorter hair?

Some people definitely look better with more/ longer hair rather than without it and I’m not actually talking about Shortcuts some people look absolutely amazing with short hair.

It’s just that in between look that screams busy mum and I’m not convinced that it’s actually any easier to deal with or maintain either.

HouseofHolbein · 01/11/2022 18:35

Personally I'm stunningly attractive with a buzz cut. I feel it certainly. Husband loves it. It suits my face and my personality.

Hair grows back. No reason not to try short if you fancy it. Although I'd probably argue that a Bob isn't really short 🤣🤣

chisum · 01/11/2022 18:36

I've had mine long, then short, then long over the years. I find that my hair looks nice long if it's freshly washed and styled but the majority of the time it's a mess and I look like a witch. Had it cut to a bob earlier this year and it was really liberating. Much easier to style and I felt younger. Had it cut even shorter recently with loads of layers. Love it even more.

I keep alternating between growing mine long and then having it all cut off Grin
Can never decide which I want but I never go shorter than jaw length too many chins for that

Your curls are absolutely stunning. You have beautiful hair.

Coniferhedge · 01/11/2022 18:52

I have an undercut and love it. I find it really low maintenance. The actual undercut bit I do myself (number 2 with clippers) and then I just go to the hairdressers about every 3-4 months to have the top tidied up. It takes minutes to dry and I just rub a bit of wax in the top to give it a bit of texture.

@HiveBee

You're wrong: long hair can look frumpy like you have no idea how to be stylish

Lots of women think long hair = glam but it can be lazy wjr boring

Echobelly · 01/11/2022 19:10

I'm getting an undercut with mine on thursday, aiming for a cut like this (but without bleach - for now at least)

I will be taking this pic with, plus one of me with a different undercut bob about 10 years ago. I do find some hairdressers are (understandably) overly cautious, so I want to be clear this is not me having a midlife crisis, I know what I look like with short hair and I'm not scared of undercuts or it being 'too short'

Having shorter hair is great!
ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 01/11/2022 19:17

I'm short and plump with below-shoulders hair now starting to grey as in my 50s and think the long hair drags me down and makes me look unstyled and frumpy.

But I'm afraid that due to being overweight, a shorter bob would give me a sort of chunky blockhead effect. Can't decide which outcome is worse. I would like the ease of caring for/styling shorter hair. Layers don't suit me as my hair is fine.

Mostly I put it up in a clip but that's leading to a sort of granny effect.

Yours looks good, OP.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 01/11/2022 19:19

I had really long hair, then had a pixie cut. Now I'm growing it long again and it's just at an awful stage.

I'm torn on whether to just have it short again. I exercise every day, sometimes twice and it's so much easier when it's short. Quick shower, blast of the hairdryer and go.

But I had so many comments about "my lovely long hair" when I had it cut. But apart from when I was going out somewhere nice, my long hair was just in a pony tail or a bun. So didn't look nice at all.

I also completely agree with that statement too.

Sidge · 01/11/2022 19:37

I went from a long bob like yours, to a short bob, then realised watching Wimbledon I looked far too much like Sue Barker. As lovely as Sue Barker is, that wasn’t the look I was going for so I had it all cut off into a pixie.

A lot of people said I was brave but I was like “it’s just hair! It’ll grow if I don’t like it”. But luckily I love it.

It’s similar to Kaley Cuoco’s pixie cut, but I’m not as young and beautiful as her unfortunately.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 01/11/2022 19:52

Your hair looks great, OP. Love the short blonde style posted above too. I’m thinking about a shorter cut too.

Please stop being numpties and feeding this fecking troll( aka as hive bee) - 🧙‍♀️☘️🧙‍♀️☘️

Wheredoallthepensgo · 01/11/2022 20:17

@HiveBee yep you do sound like a cow. It's not giving up ffs.

@PeloFondo your curls are absolutely stunning!!

OP, it's quite hard to see your hair in pic 1 against such a dark top but I agree that it looks great in pic 2 and you look more "groomed" to me. Good choice.

Coniferhedge · 01/11/2022 20:46

@Echobelly That bob is gorgeous and I’m sure it will look amazing! I’m better with shorter hair as my hair is super fine. If I had it longer it would just hang like a wet dishcloth.

MovingOnUpp · 01/11/2022 21:04

Reluctantadult
I did a similar long to shoulder length cut a couple of weeks ago and am pleased with it.

MovingOnUpp · 01/11/2022 21:09

I love the undercuts, I didn’t actually know what one was until the posters posted their photos. You look fab ladies and HouseofHolbein what a fab photo and your hair really suits you.

Cam22 · 01/11/2022 21:26

Lovely!

Cam22 · 01/11/2022 21:27

To OP!

maeveiscurious · 01/11/2022 21:30

I've got a very short cut, post chemo my hair is dreadful so shorter it looks thicker and healthier. I'm into earring and I know I need to have more makeup on

DrCoconut · 01/11/2022 21:34

My hair was in awful condition due to underlying health issues which I am in the process of recovering from. I had it cut from below my shoulder blades long to a pixie crop. I have what can politely be called strong features and was warned not to do it but I did and I like it. It takes years off me and makes my hair look better.

It would be a crime to obscure those monster munch earrings with hair anyway!

Coniferhedge · 01/11/2022 22:11

@RedDwarfGarbagePod They’re not my usual style, my friend bought them for me as a joke (hence the selfie I took modelling them) but they are fun!

Mezmer · 02/11/2022 12:16

So I had about four inches cut off this morning and a fringe cut in and I bloody LOVE it. I look younger and fresher and it’s all shiny and smart. I def don’t look mumsy!
