CB advent calendar plus free goody bag is a pretty good deal, even at full price for the advent calendar. They are clearly not shifting them quickly at all (and have not had as good a take up of the GWP as expected).

Selfridges have come in and out of stock; other than that it’s only the Harrods fragrance calendar that has sold out. I think last year by now a few had sold out, though some (eg John Lewis) did restock later. I do think the BAC trend has peaked, and we’ll see fewer calendars (and less of each available) next year, sadly.

I still think the Liberty fragrance calendar is overpriced - got an early access email tonight, but it’s still at full price. Quite underwhelmed by their Christmas kits too, sadly.

On the fence for the Harrods advent; I was quite keen on it, but with the delays have now spent on other things instead.

I also realised with CB that if you use the code First15, the goodie bag disappears out of the basket, so it looks like you can only have one or the other.

I tried it last night, out of curiosity. It worked for about a half an hour. Either they sold out or realised their error and stopped it.

I couldn’t really see what was in the goody bag. There was no clicky link on it!

ajandjjmum · 02/11/2022 08:13

In 2019 I paid half price for the Harrods Advent Calendar in early December - I'd happily do that again!

Peridot1 · 02/11/2022 08:15

Yes I think next year’s Advent calendar landscape may look quite different. I think this year is quite a difficult one with an economic landscape very different to that of last year. The planning and production of them would start quite early in the year I’d imagine.

Having not planned on buying one this year really I thought I’d get the M&S one just to prevent FOMO in December but ended up succumbing to the JL calendar with the Beauty edit box they had. I’m considering returning them both though as I really don’t need anything. Going to have a good luck at them and have a think about what to do.

Stokey · 02/11/2022 08:45

I think those that put up their prices by £20 with no obvious extra products really misjudged the current climate.

It's no surprise that the JL one that has stayed below £200 is getting a lot of love.

I haven't succumbed yet, mulling JL but will have a closer look at CB with the discount. The Liberty perfume is a bit pricey, may have been tempted at nearer the £200 mark.

MidnightConstellation · 02/11/2022 09:03

I’m considering returning mine too. I am not wowed by JL really. Even with the additional Winrer box. Too much stuff I don’t really want or won’t use. Can’t justify the cost.

EmmatheStageRat · 02/11/2022 09:22

Just to let those interested previously know that the Body Shop Ultimate calendar (from last winter) is back on BrandAlley. It’s £63 instead of £140. I bought it for my soap-dodging teen and it is a thing of beauty and is very good value at nearly 60 per cent off RRP.

To add, the Body Shop offer on Brandalley apparently ends tonight.

@TheDuchessOfMN if you click on the ribbon saying spend x to get the goodie bag it brings you to this page - www.cultbeauty.com/names-to-know-goody.list

TheDuchessOfMN · 02/11/2022 09:49

Thanks @OchonAgusOchonOh

They usually do a better goody bag than that, later in the year. I think it’s something like “Best of 2022”. The minimum spend is a lot though. I think they used to do it when the calendar sold out.
It will be interesting to see what they will do if there are surplus calendars left over.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 02/11/2022 10:46

Just had an email from spaceNK

Currently 20%off beauty boxes including Advent Calendar!

PacificState · 02/11/2022 10:48

20% off the Space NK AC (extremely annoying for those of us who bought it at full price but there you go...)

MidnightMeltdown · 02/11/2022 10:57

Hmmm... still don't think that I'm tempted by Space nk.

Agree that Harrods is too late. If it had come out a month ago I probably would have bought it.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 02/11/2022 10:58

Right, I’ve gone for it with SpaceNK at 20% off.

Trying to cut back but I’ve been pretty restrained all year with beauty stuff, and I’ve never had a beauty advent calendar at all before; so I’ll forgive myself this lapse.

I was tempted by 20% off of the luxury edit box or whatever it’s called — the one with the Omorovicza night cream — but swerved to the advent at the last moment.

MidnightConstellation · 02/11/2022 11:15

OchonAgusOchonOh · 02/11/2022 09:41

The contents of that AC just don’t look all that exciting.

doublecleansed · 02/11/2022 11:16

@LemonJuiceFromConcentrate if you like that Omorovicza night cream then there's a new Liberty Christmas sleep kit with a full size of it in for £60. Think it might only be on sale to Beauty Drop members at moment but should be on the site soon. Don't want to enable though!

The Space NK radiance box is a good one - annoyingly I paid full price for it a few weeks ago - I thought it might sell out so didn't want to chance waiting, but I guess things just aren't shifting like normal at the moment.

TreesinthePark · 02/11/2022 11:18

I've been lurking but came to post about the 20% off Space NK... I'm too late! It's tempting but I already have Liberty (using mainly BD credit) and Harvey Nichols.

I'm very intrigued to see how good the discounts will get, they're really not selling out this year at all.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 02/11/2022 11:48

Ah thanks @doublecleansed — I’ve got Liberty credit to use and I hadn’t noticed those kits were out! Absolutely worth it for me (even if it means I have to let yet another pillow spray into my home to remain unloved).

Adventadventures · 02/11/2022 12:30

Anyone else finding all these discounts quite stressful! Every time there is one I have to go back and reassess wether I need this advent/is it worth it/would I use the stuff . Will my husband divorce me if I buy it . Is there room under the bed. How long do I now have to live to use it all up! Same with all the Edit boxes around.
Not sure if it has been mentioned but ASOS had some great little boxes (make up, skincare and bath) for £25 which were my downfall yesterday but may be good if anyone is making their own advents or looking for presents

Shitehound · 02/11/2022 12:30

I had an email from Cult Beauty last Friday (subject line - 'What better way to celebrate payday') for £25 off the AC by clicking through the email, then added a code for £20 off AFFXADVENT (code works until midnight on the 4th Nov)... Did both of these and just paid £190 for the CB advent... :) Don't think I'll get the GWP but £45 is a better option for me as not fussed by the GWP this time.

gianfrancogorgonzola · 02/11/2022 12:35

I got space nk last year and was disappointed, too many tiny sizes. Will hold out to see if CB goes to a similar price point or JL at around the £150 mark.

It’s an interesting year to watch these ACs that’s for sure.

Thefroglover · 02/11/2022 12:35

I don't understand the fuss for beauty advent calendars. They will often contain some things you wont necessarily like/use. Whereas the calendars are a nice idea, I just don't think I can justify the cost when there will be somethings that I just don't want/need/like. A lot of my friends rave about them. Some buy themselves several different beauty & drink related calendars. How do people afford all this ??

Adventadventures · 02/11/2022 12:36

@Shitehound stop tempting me!! There is no way I could hide that under the bed and there’s loads of stuff in that advent I will have to live to 105 to use it all up

MidnightMeltdown · 02/11/2022 12:53

Agree re. space nk. I bought it with a discount code last year, so got it for around £160 I think, but would have been disappointed if I'd paid full price.

This year it seems to have even more minis, as well as several repeats, so I'm not tempted. I do think that like Elle, space nk price with a discount in mind. If some pay full price then great, but I think that they expect to discount it to get a rush of sales. I've never paid full price for it.

Yes, I’ve thought this. I bought the £40 advent calendar. I enjoyed it last year and it introduced me to some products/brands that I really like and have purchased since. I wouldn’t spend £100 plus on one though. To those who are buying the ones around £200, do you think you have got caught-up in the advent calendar excitement, or if they weren’t there, would you spend that money on beauty products to celebrate the Christmas season anyway?
