That price is a lot more realistic for Fenwick - I can’t imagine they sold many at full price considering all the other (better) offerings in that price bracket.

bewarethetides · 15/11/2022 16:18

I've always loved the Fenwick calendars, but this year's price increase was ridiculous. £130 definitely more sensible, although I've already bought my 'big' calendar for the season.

MidnightMeltdown · 15/11/2022 17:43

Hmmm... I'm not impressed with Fenwicks even at £130. It looks like it's full of minis.

It should be under £100 imo.

Article from The Times today on ‘the best’ beauty advent calendars.

I can't believe that it's mid November and they're all still in stock. People just aren't biting, even with the discounts.

I'm starting to feel a little sorry for the retailers (at least the ones that have offered a decent calendar!)

TheDuchessOfMN · 15/11/2022 18:32

I wonder what will it mean for next year’s calendars? Sad

It’s a concern. Although I do think some are not as good - I’ve not been tempted by m and s

Stokey · 15/11/2022 19:55

Oh I'm tempted by Fenwick's at that price. There were some nice perfumes in it. I really don't need it though.

Doubleraspberry · 15/11/2022 19:57

I think it’s a real combination of higher supply (I saw that Liberty produced 30% more calendars this year), higher prices, economic conditions and the sort of fatigue we’ve seen on this thread from people who have had quite a calendars now and aren’t finding the contents novel enough/still have products from previous years.

I've been lurking for ages , hello 👋🏻
I spent £200 on space nk last year without a seconds thought and thought it was fab.

This year they are all really so so poor , and more expensive.
Space nk terrible for repeats , why would we want boring Olaplex etc again? M&S I used to love but it's tedious also , they need some new brands!

I have nothing at all yet and it's driving me mad! I'll only jump at a serious discount as so many have lots of items that bore me or I will not use.
Got excited briefly for the Fenwicks discount but it's disappointing at £130 , lots at 3/5/10ml which is a joke , you get that size as free samples quite easily.

Please keep notifications going of the discounts as I'll eventually crack on one once the price drops , oh but it's a gamble!! Loving your work 🥰

I agree, sizes seem considerably smaller this year. Shame, it's a beautiful box this year.

TBF, M&S is marketed at a price level many will treat themselves to, and it sold out online quite quickly.

Hi diamonds I agree! My husband bought me Space NK and I wasn't feeling as thrilled as I should be (didn't let on though). The only one o really, really wanted was Harrods Fragrance one but I missed out. I'm looking forward to my John Lewis though. Just having a little gift each morning for one time of the year is worth the price of that one I think.

I wonder if it will come down again....or maybe there will be an added GWP if you hang tight.🧐

diamondsandrose · 15/11/2022 20:34

@BrokeAsABone interesting that JL was the one that made you jump !

What was the decider ? I'm looking for enablement ( is that a word?!)

Stokey · 15/11/2022 20:35

I've just had a look again at Fenwick's @diamondsandrose. For me the value is definitely there at £130 - there's the 50ml Votary cream -£70, the Dr Sebagh serum at 20ml -£70, a Charlotte Tilbury full size lipstick £30 and the Frederic Malle £40. Those are all winners for me, and I'd like to try the other perfumes. There's also some full size masks. Though the 3ml and 7.5ml serums do seem particularly tight.

BrokeAsABone · 15/11/2022 20:44

Diamonds I had to go back to check as I had forgotten and got excited all over again!😂

The range of brands more than anything. Murad, Acqua di Parma, Votary, Elemis, Lancôme...there are a few duds like Olaplex but for the money this year I don't think it can be beat.

diamondsandrose · 15/11/2022 20:52

Hmm maybe I'm under estimating the fenwicks value.
I didn't know those products were worth that . I love Delina perfume so the body lotion is calling to me.

Maybe it was Olaplex that turned me off the JL , I'm looking again though. The Charlotte T palette tempts

I have not ruled out either... I better be quick or knowing my luck they will sell out

There's a good few single brand calendars about discounted but unless you're a mad fan they can get samey

Agree - it's a good price and a lovely treat.
It just feels a bit unimaginative this year but probably as have had for the past 5+ years.

BrokeAsABone · 15/11/2022 21:04

I am pretty sure M&S had Black Tulip perfume in a previous box just a few years ago so yes, very same. But a fantastic price, it has to be said.

I've just had another look and you're right...some amazing products there that make up the value, as well as a couple of interesting ones I've not tried before, like the Owl cream! Never heard of it!

I have to say that Dr Sebagh is one product I love. It's a HG product. I think I can FEEL it working..😂

diamondsandrose · 15/11/2022 21:19

What does the Dr Sebagh do ?! I like the sound of that

Ditto the Votary cream is it more than just another moisturiser?

Zeeza · 15/11/2022 21:27

I thinks thats the hyaluronic acid one. It's really good at moisturising the skin. I've had a few bottles. Lots of serums have it. The good quality ones are similar to each other. But other serums at that price have other actives in them. Cheaper ones are pretty OK too.

I'd be pleased to receive a bottle, and I'd def use it. But I wouldn't dream of paying full price.

When I use, it, I wake up with my skin feeling almost like satin. It feels a lot firmer too and even if I had a rough night with lack of sleep (nd child), my skin looks refreshed. I love that little bottle.

I’ve caved and treated myself to a Holland and Barrett. It’s got things I like and want to try.
