Tell me about your money saving dupes

I love an expensive brand, but have been looking to cut my spending with cheaper alternatives. My latest discovery is M&S hand soap & hand cream - the orange bergamot & lemongrass is exactly like the Molton Brown equivalent at only a fiver vs £20. There's also a pink pepper version. I will never buy Molton Brown again!

Tell me your favourite dupes please - candles, toiletries, whatever!

Oooh!
Aldi honey bath nectar - laura mercier dupe
Plenty of reed diffuser refills dupes on Etsy along with wax melts and candles
Perfume parlour for perfumes
Next summer sun is Estée Lauder bronze goddess

Not necessarily dupes but cheap and good
Essence mascara
Tarte - wait for their choose your own kit day and do that, it's a massive saving
Ordinary squalane cleaner
Inkey list products
Aldi volume conditioner (curly girl and has protein)
The imperial leather new bath/shower range, smells amazing and their oud hand wash is lovely

Any more? Keep em coming!

Aldi lacura day and night cream!

starsinyourpies · 16/10/2022 08:00

Aldi fancy hand wash and reed diffusers that are Jo Malone rip offs are brilliant (avoid the candles though: pile of crap).

grayhairdontcare · 16/10/2022 08:24

I've changed to Elf brightening primer from Estée Lauder and I really like the Elf one

Ooh I really like Elf Holy Hydration daily moisturiser - have been using it instead of the Clinique one.

I came on to say Aldi candles (especially No 1), but avoid the diffusers as they're chemically and not the same as the candles!

starsinyourpies · 16/10/2022 08:41

@HappyAsASandboy how funny, I haven't tried the candles in a while, maybe I should give them another go! No real fragrance last time.

psuedocream3 · 16/10/2022 08:49

Not so much dupes but I do use my makeup to multitask, lipstick for colour correction/blush, mix lipstick for the shade I want, sometimes with eyeshadow, use eyeshdow for brows, etc

DarlingCoffee · 16/10/2022 13:25

Lidl has a shower gel range that’s a dupe for Molton Brown. Also one of their perfumes - Madame Glamour - is a dupe for Chanel Mademoiselle I believe.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 16/10/2022 13:41

Collection Glow Filter Finish is exactly the same as Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. Exactly. I have both and applied side by side on each side of my face there is zero difference. Big difference in price though!

Yes! I bought some pomegranate candle that everyone raved about and it was so synthetic it gave me a headache. I'm not one to throw things out. I'll read to use them up but that candle when straight into the bin

pocketvenuss · 16/10/2022 13:57

@HappyAsASandboy 😂I hated the candle!

luckylavender · 16/10/2022 14:56

I got an Aldi dupe candle out last night - the Pomegranate one. I love it.

Itstheimplication · 16/10/2022 16:07

Not a dupe but I agree the Essence mascaras are amazing, as are their nail polishes, really good quality.
Beauty Pie has some brilliant dupes for the Charlotte Tilbury Eye Palettes

tiredofthiisshit21 · 16/10/2022 19:40

Think I need to go to Aldi for some £2 candles.

Not a dupe but I've not found a gel eyeliner pencil I like better than Avon Glimmersticks (they're not glittery despite the name). They're about £4 each on Amazon. Read about them on here. The only thing that a premium brand would do better would be a bigger selection of colours I think. Plus they're twisty so none of the sharpening half a £25 pencil into the bin to get a sharp enough point.

50plusandfabulous · 16/10/2022 19:58

@babysteps22 what are they called please?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/10/2022 20:55

I like the Avon Glimmersticks too. They don't drag your eyelids like pencils sometimes can. Also hypoallergenic and a zillion colours.
Aldi primer is bloody close to Bobbi Brown.
I rate all of Revolution's stuff as swaps for fancier serums etc. Also when you can't get The Ordinary as it has poor stock.

teathyme · 16/10/2022 21:42

Home Bargains Jo Malone knock off candles are actually better than the JM ones!

Also Elf make up setting spray the illuminating one - I tell you it's magic!

Couldn’t agree more. They’re better than liners at six times the price.

Which Aldi conditioner is curly girl? I would love to be able to buy one in there rather than making a special trip to B&M for the XHC strawberry conditioner!

QV cream is the best moisturiser.
