I love an expensive brand, but have been looking to cut my spending with cheaper alternatives. My latest discovery is M&S hand soap & hand cream - the orange bergamot & lemongrass is exactly like the Molton Brown equivalent at only a fiver vs £20. There's also a pink pepper version. I will never buy Molton Brown again!

Tell me your favourite dupes please - candles, toiletries, whatever!

Kiko lost in amalfi cream eyeshadow pots are the very same as CT eyes to Mesmerise

Kiko is generally very underated imo so I'll look out for these

shreddednips · 29/10/2022 18:49

Not a dupe (or maybe it is a dupe of something I've never heard of 😆) but Aldi did these fantastic, absolutely enormous candles last year with three of those crackling wicks. Really nice scent and they were HUGE, actually heated the room up a bit. I'm heading off to see if they're doing them again this year so I'll post a pic if so 😁 My husband couldn't give a shiny shit about candles normally but he kept pinching this one to have in his study, it lasted weeks and weeks.

slowquickstep · 29/10/2022 19:19

shreddednips Woodwick candles £30 a go and yes the Aldi ones are even better

powercut101 · 29/10/2022 19:21

Plex hair range by revolution is a actual dupe of olaplex hair are range. My hair is damaged and this stuff is Brillant !

Rimmel 24hr stay foundation is imo a dupe is doublewear by Estée Lauder but less cakey

SmileyClare · 29/10/2022 19:28

I second the Plex range.
Highly recommend the Revolution Plex 3 Bond Restore treatment (£10 Boots)

Also recommend the Collection Lash Surge mascara. Love this, better than any expensive “false lash” mascara.

Ghoulieta · 29/10/2022 19:30

I love clinique eyeshadow in foxier but looking for a dupe thats not 20 quid!
Any ideas?

Wiglio · 29/10/2022 19:50

Agree with @Dontwakeme about Aldi lacuna night cream.
my eyes run like taps with many creams but I can slap this on and no problem with running eyes. Smells nice too. For £1.65 it’s a steal.

SydneySage · 29/10/2022 19:52

I'm after a Molton brown candle dupe- the orange & bergamot

Am definitely up for cheap candles!

LovelyBitOfSquirrel69 · 29/10/2022 21:26

Also love Kiko makeup, such good value.

grayhairdontcare · 29/10/2022 22:08

Aldi dry shampoo in white bottle with grey lid
Is a dupe for living proof

ivykaty44 · 30/10/2022 08:17

I need some of these dupes in my life

NeedWineNow · 30/10/2022 11:37

Takenoprisoner · 29/10/2022 18:09

I've got this one from another thread - using Johnsons baby lotion as cleanser. The newly formulated one is colourant free and has coconut oil. Replaced Cetaphil cleanser for me. A massive 500ml pump dispenser bottle for less than £3 and often on offer, and works brilliantly to take off all make up and leaves skin cleansed without tightness.

@Takenoprisoner How do you use this as a cleanser please? Do you need to use it with cotton wool, or can you rub over and then rinse off or use a hot cloth?

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 30/10/2022 11:57

Rimmel Match Perfection concealer is brilliant for about £6-£7. Good colour shades and matches to your skin.

I've got a MAC concealer for under eyes (in pot) and don't know why I bothered with the MAC!

Maybelline gel eyeliner - various shades, Amazon or Ebay. I've got one which is sort of ginger/terracotta and one in silver. Great application and stays on forever.

Takenoprisoner · 30/10/2022 12:11

@NeedWineNow I've tried both ways and it works. I'm moving away from disposables so I use the reusable make up remover pads. Hot cloth also takes off make up with the lotion.
Just had a look, and it's free of dyes and pthalates.

Takenoprisoner · 30/10/2022 12:16

Since they've taken out dyes, the lotion is no longer pink, it's white. Also free of parabens. Really gentle on the skin.

@Takenoprisoner Great thank you.

starfleet · 02/11/2022 10:36

Revolution Miracle Cream.

It's an almost identical dupe for CT Magic Cream. Had a sample of the CT cream, loved it but not enough to spend £50/£75 on it. Revolution's cream is £10 a pot and amazing.

Lookingformymarbles · 02/11/2022 11:05

Not necessarily dupes, but the M&S Pure skincare range is very good especially the moisturiser. It has the added bonus of being a natural skin care range.

Also Kikko & Nyx eyeliners are a good replacement for Mac & Charlotte Tilbury.

Superdrug's own tanning drops are a decent enough dupe for Tan-Luxe

If anyone has any recommendations for Maria Nila sheer silver shampoo & conditioner dupes i'd be over the moon!

What does the cream do?

NecklessMumster · 02/11/2022 14:21

I second the aldi rose oil and rejuvelate moisturisers, but I couldn't get on with their hot cloth cleanser because of the smell, sort of industrial/parafinny? Ended up throwing it away after trying to persevere for a week or so.

starfleet · 02/11/2022 14:53

What does the cream do?

@Paddingtonthebear 😂makes my dried up leathery old skin feel very smooth and soft....

Paddingtonthebear · 02/11/2022 16:31

Sounds good to me 🤣

LadyOfTheCanyon · 02/11/2022 19:36

I've now tried the Collection version of CTs Flawless Filter as recommended by a PP and it is excellent. Which is great news as I've run out of FF.

Their Hypnose mascara copy is not as good as Lancôme but it's still pretty damn good for the £6 or so it costs.

Revolution lipsticks - not a huge range but really pigmented and last well. £6

Wet and Wild photofocus foundation is a pretty good stand in for my Sheer Glow.

I use bronzer as a basic eyeshadow on a which make up day.

Rimmel brow pencils

Elf eyeshadow crayons are a good version of By Terry or Laura Mercier ones and last just as long.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 02/11/2022 19:36
  • quick make up day, not which!
