Tell me about your money saving dupes

I love an expensive brand, but have been looking to cut my spending with cheaper alternatives. My latest discovery is M&S hand soap & hand cream - the orange bergamot & lemongrass is exactly like the Molton Brown equivalent at only a fiver vs £20. There's also a pink pepper version. I will never buy Molton Brown again!

Tell me your favourite dupes please - candles, toiletries, whatever!

The Aldi copies of the Jo Malone candles are not a patch on the real thing. Not even close. The scents just aren’t very strong.

I think they’re a pretty good dupe. They’re also a fraction of the price.

I have the Aldi sweet almond and macaroon jo Malone candle dupe and it throws an amazing amount of scent out and fills my fairly large living room.

They had them on offer maybe a year ago but they do keep bringing that particular scene back and it's a dead ringer for the jo Malone one.

I have the 3 wick candles and they last ages and are Stronger smelling too!

TattiePants · 29/10/2022 00:32

Aldi’s dupe of the Sanctuary’s bath float / soak is back in stock at less than £2 per bottle compared to £12.50. I think I’ve bought 12 bottles so far!

blusteryshowersaway · 29/10/2022 04:07

Primark do a dupe of Charlotte tilbury’s flawless filter for £5; it’s good.

Macarena1990 · 29/10/2022 05:07

Zara cherry and Amalfi sunray perfumes are great copies of Tom Ford

What is the brand name of the Primark range please.

Boots No 7 Hydraluminous foundation - swapped to this after years of Laura Mercier and Nars

Not a dupe but Primark 3D lash effect is brilliant for the price

Also swapped from expensive moisturisers to My Skin Matters light moisturiser with hyaluronic acid, £2 in Sainsburys

The hyrdoluminous isn't the same as the NARs, I prefer it though

WhatsErFace2020 · 29/10/2022 07:28

The Co-op do their own dry shampoo that is amazing, Best I’ve ever tried!

pastypirate · 29/10/2022 08:35

All the aldi L'Oréal shamooo dupes are amazing. I bulk buy the ones in orange bottles some oil related name they are 89p a bottle!
I started buying them after I complimented a friends very shiny hair and she recommended them. The conditioner looks like liquid gold it's really luxurious.

Ah OK 😂

I'm in another country with no Primark, so I was hoping to try narrow down if one of our stores sells this range.

I have serious FOMO when it comes to dupes that you are able to find. We don't have an Aldi either 🙈

Can you get Elf? They do a similar product- not an absolute dupe

No 🙈 we don't get Elf either, and I did pick up one of their palettes when I visited NY some years back. I use it so sparingly as it's really amazing and I know I can't replace it.

We do get Essence and Catrice though, it took me a while to work out this was the brand posters sometimes refer to as Wilko brand.

Rimmel Lasting finish foundation. Lovely finish and moisturising.

Titsflyingsouth · 29/10/2022 12:05

Not necessarily a dupe but Aveeno kicks the arse of any high-end moisturiser I've ever used.

Nivea 2 in 1 cleanser toner (£4 RRP) is awesome and has replaced the Body Shop Vit E Cleanser and Toner I used to have (2 separate bottles, £9 each.)

What is it a dupe of?

Takenoprisoner · 29/10/2022 12:44

@SpookyPanda

Have heard it's a dupe of EL double wear, and having used that for years before switching to Rimmel, I think the rimmel one is better. It has similar coverage, without being as drying.

I love finding a decent dupe - mostly found through threads like this!

My faves are:

Lacura Rejuvelate Day Cream (and Night Cream if you can get hold of it) - dupe for L'Oreal Revitalift

Lacura Caviar Night Cream (is this the La Prairie dupe?)

Lacura BB Cream

Lacura hot cloth cleansers - Original and Pineapple

All from Aldi

Wilko Essence Eyebrow gel - better and much cheap than the Benefit one I usually get

Avon Glimmersticks. I've just gone back to using these - amazing for the price.

Garner Micellar Water with the pink lid - cheaper and better than Bioderma

Also, not a dupe, but Garnier Intensive 7 Days Aloe Vera body lotion is one of the best I've tried and a regular repurchase. My favourite - Clinique Deep Comfort - is saved for birthday/Xmas lists!

Things I cannot give up though (and I've tried!) are:

Clinique Take the Day Off for Lips, Lids and Lashes
Clinique All about Eyes eye cream
Clinique Mascara - High Impact or Lash Power

Takenoprisoner · 29/10/2022 18:09

I've got this one from another thread - using Johnsons baby lotion as cleanser. The newly formulated one is colourant free and has coconut oil. Replaced Cetaphil cleanser for me. A massive 500ml pump dispenser bottle for less than £3 and often on offer, and works brilliantly to take off all make up and leaves skin cleansed without tightness.

Bobbins36 · 29/10/2022 18:15

HappyAsASandboy · 16/10/2022 08:36

I came on to say Aldi candles (especially No 1), but avoid the diffusers as they're chemically and not the same as the candles!

Love the Aldi Jo Malone perfume dupes - Blackberry and Bay is lovely

I will look out to see if it's reformulated here in my country as well now.

I tried it as a cleanser. Once. Dear lawd it stung so badly and the next day my eyes were all swollen. I never used it for my babies at all.

If it has new ingredients, that can only be a good thing.

Primark £5 foundation. Great dupe for Estée Lauder double wear

Mistletow · 29/10/2022 18:35

Kiko lost in amalfi cream eyeshadow pots are the very same as CT eyes to Mesmerise
