I love an expensive brand, but have been looking to cut my spending with cheaper alternatives. My latest discovery is M&S hand soap & hand cream - the orange bergamot & lemongrass is exactly like the Molton Brown equivalent at only a fiver vs £20. There's also a pink pepper version. I will never buy Molton Brown again!

Tell me your favourite dupes please - candles, toiletries, whatever!

Collection Lash Surge mascara is amazing and less than a fiver. It's a Lancôme Hypnose dupe.

MarthanotMarfa · 16/10/2022 22:22

Second the mention of Lidl shower and bath gel Milton brown dupes - bergamot and orange one and a black pepper one- quite amazing.

Nanalisa60 · 16/10/2022 22:22

Aldi lacura rose oil is as good as pixi rose oil

Twilightstarbright · 16/10/2022 22:25

I love the Aldi no1 etc handwashes but not the candles.

shiningstar2 · 16/10/2022 22:26

Boots no. 7 wrinkle filler is every bit as good as expensive brands.

It’s as good as Sisley Black Rose oil which is £££.

Yes! I use it at night or when my skin needs a bit of extra moisture in winter. An absolute steal. I've also used Lacura caviar day cream for years on my very sensitive skin and it's the best moisturiser I've ever used and I've been through a lot!

enjoyingscience · 16/10/2022 22:32

Lacura CC serum is amazing. The best primer I’ve ever used. I’m not even sure what it’s a dupe for (maybe By Terry?), but I wouldn’t try the more expensive version anyway.

PeloFondo · 16/10/2022 22:32

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon it's this one, protein heavy. My hair is picky and likes it, I think it's 90p!

Rimmel eye primer is at least as good as the Urban Decay one (better in my experience).

buckeejit · 16/10/2022 22:59

Glimmerstick fans, try kiko eyeliners / especially the smart liners. Glorious colour range & epic staying power.

I use the curly girl method on my DS and this conditioner gives the best results of any conditioner we’ve tried!

Boots No 7 Hydraluminous foundation - swapped to this after years of Laura Mercier and Nars

Not a dupe but Primark 3D lash effect is brilliant for the price

Also swapped from expensive moisturisers to My Skin Matters light moisturiser with hyaluronic acid, £2 in Sainsburys

Rina66 · 17/10/2022 05:17

Elf eyebrow pencil in neutral brown, £3. Better than Estée Lauder.

Ultra glow Lipstains Gold £6 - best long lasting lipstick and over 20 colours - better than any long lasting lip stick I've ever tried

NYX butter lip gloss £5 - as good as MAC

Nivea Micellar Water Professional £5 but often half price- black bottle - best make up remover I've ever used and I wear ELDouble Wear foundation.

Anon778833 · 17/10/2022 05:27

Thanks for the glimmer sticks recommendation. They look really good.

isthismylifenow · 17/10/2022 05:32

Not make up, but I found the Toni and Guy hairdryer and straighter on par with GHD.

(I don't have curly hair though, but they give the same effect on my straight hair)

Are they twistable or do you have to sharpen them?

savvy7 · 17/10/2022 07:44

Another vote for Glimmersticks, Aldi Rose Oil, Aldi handwashes (I like the White Company Winter dupe), Aldi Blackberry and Bay Perfume (Jo Malone dupe) and Aldi Caviar cream (I use the night cream)

Excellent thanks I will look out for it.

If you have spotted an SLS free shampoo there let me know, I "low poo" some of the time as my hair is wavy and can get a bit limp with co-washing.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 17/10/2022 11:43

For me, I got the black pepper Lidl shower gel, nice enough. I have used their night time moisturiser, prefer the CBD serum.

I do rate their dry shampoo.

Boots Vitamin C moisturiser is a bargain.

NisekoWhistler · 26/10/2022 23:28

Thank you to those who introduced me to the hand wash, went on a mission to Aldi and picked up a few. These are fab!

Snoopsnoggysnog · 26/10/2022 23:36

Another vote for Avon glimmersticks. I hadn’t realised you can get them on Amazon 🤦🏻‍♀️

I would like to know if anyone has tried Victoria Beckham satin kajal liner and if there are good dupes for those? Are glimmersticks similar?

weaselwords · 28/10/2022 15:05

I’m into the Zara perfume dupes at the moment and have got Gardenia, which is very similar to Black Opium and so much cheaper. I also had a good sniff at Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and Lidl’s Madame Glamour is identical.
