Secret wedding, what would you wear?

I've been with DP for 12 years we are early 30s. For various reasons we want to be legally married but we have a disabled child who can't cope being away from us for a long time. We are going to nip along to get married when he is at special needs nursery in the morning at 10am! Just us.

We are very in love and I actually don't really mind about a big thing.

My question is... What would you wear? I have quite an easy shape to dress, hour glass 10-12, I'm 5ft 8, autumn colouring, I suit a bold lip.

I don't feel I would remotely want a big proper wedding dress... But I'd still like to look gorgeous! Can anyone inspire me, what would you wear if you were me?!

I'd go to my favourite shop at the top my budget and just try all the beautiful dresses. Something that I could wear out again (although I understand you don't get as many opportunities as you might)

Wedding dresses are so horrendously expensive I think that you could treat yourself to a nice dress that you wouldn't normally allow yourself. And you'd still be saving money.

We didn't do a white wedding and it was much more "us". Plus we each got a lovely outfit with could wear again.

That's lovely. I don't remotely suit white anyway so not bothered about that. When we first got engaged in my late 20s I tried proper wedding dresses and it just wasn't me! So yes to just a gorgeous dress.

I wear jeans, Yoga pants and trainers all day running after my little one so I have zero idea about which shops to even look on! 😅

What budget??

Budget... I suppose I would spend up to £300 ish... Can I get something nice for that? Technically we do have more money but it feels a bit wasteful to spend too much on something I won't wear much.

Budget? I wore an Issey Miyake asymmetric dress and biker boots.

Can I ask one thing though, are you sure about not inviting your very closest family? Your parents maybe? Do you think they will take it OK? I understand not wanting to make a big show of it, but there is something about standing up in front of your family and saying your vows.

It wouldn't be possible. My family are on other side of the country and not together. DP mum has mental health problems and doesn't see his dad. Plus I'm very close with my sister so I wouldn't have my dad who I'm not so close with over my sister. But she has little ones. Then we couldn't not have DP Siblings. It would all just be complicated. We will tell them we want to have a party in a couple years when our child is older and can handle it. Would be a waste of money and stressful if we tried now.

You can absolutely get something nice for £300 or under.

Have a look in the selfridges sale. They have a couple of nice reiss dresses that you might like for 100 etc. You can try them and send them back.

Sorry, I realise life is complicated and everyone is scattered. I just know that so many people get offended over weddings. You both sound so wonderfully together with the right priorities. It's going to be a lovely day and you're going to be very happy 😊

I think family will understand... We love our son more than life.

I’d go for a fab autumn coloured dress you could wear dressed down after your wedding.
