Secret wedding, what would you wear?

I've been with DP for 12 years we are early 30s. For various reasons we want to be legally married but we have a disabled child who can't cope being away from us for a long time. We are going to nip along to get married when he is at special needs nursery in the morning at 10am! Just us.

We are very in love and I actually don't really mind about a big thing.

My question is... What would you wear? I have quite an easy shape to dress, hour glass 10-12, I'm 5ft 8, autumn colouring, I suit a bold lip.

I don't feel I would remotely want a big proper wedding dress... But I'd still like to look gorgeous! Can anyone inspire me, what would you wear if you were me?!

I just know that so many people get offended over weddings.

OP sounds great, I concur that a lovely dress that you could wear again to a formal party would be a good idea. Or if you prefer skirt or trouser suits, and would get more wear from one of those, then that. I quite like a jacket over a long dress.

No one wears their wedding dress again and many couples spend a huge amount on their wedding day... so if you were to visualise / fantasise about the most glamorous you... what would she look like? The little touches can make a big difference... fabulous underwear, gorgeous shoes and wonderful jewellery.

Consider whether you can find a moment to go to a department store and have a session with a personal shopper.... I did this once for an event and the shopper was amazing... picked out a dress for me that I wouldn't necessarily have chosen but she was right... it is still one of my favourite purchases of all time.

It doesn't matter if you never wear any if it again ....

DP (soon to be DH) lost his job last week so I'm really happy we are doing it as low key as possible. I can do my own hair and make up. We've got a little suit for our son, goodness knows what he will all make of it, he will have his ear defenders on the whole time I imagine. He wouldn't understand if we tried to explain.

Love both those dresses, particularly the black, but they’re going to look a bit odd that early in the morning. That might not bother you, but worth thinking about. I’d be looking for something a bit less evening-y, but still with that fabulous structure.

I don't mind us looking odd first thing in the morning, it's really early our ceremony. After we are going to take our son to the park and go for a walk in central London. Very odd wedding for many people I'm sure, but I love being with my boys. It's special to us.

Oh I don’t think the dress you’ve chosen would look odd anyway - they were all gorgeous though.

As soon as I saw that dress, I knew it was perfect!

I was worried you'd be chilly in the red one (because I am now older and worry about these things!).
