Beauty advent 22 part 2 (massive spoilers)

I don't know the etiquette of starting a runover of someone else's thread. I hope this is OK.

Reminder advent22 gives a hand-wash and handcream free gift on space nk.

I bought it, but now I have alight regret. I should have held out to see what harrods had.

The CEO cream wasn't 5oz as had been trailed on many calendar sites, but 0.5oz, 15ml. 5oz would have been a ridiculous size so that makes sense.

Quadruple points at Liberty and looks like AC included.

I just placed an order but points not shown as x 4 at checkout. Hopefully will be corrected when my account updates on delivery.......

AprilLady · 27/10/2022 08:01

I think I’m also going to get M&S after all; there is easily enough I’ll use to justify the £40 spend.

I see Liberty are jumping on the 12 day fragrance calendar bandwagon. Looks fairly interesting. No ouds as far as I can tell - but price point is way off compared to Harrods: £275 with “value” of £600, compared with Harrods which was £150 and “value” over £800. I’ll be giving the Liberty one a miss at that price (and now have plenty of perfume to be getting on with in any event…)

doublecleansed · 27/10/2022 08:04

If that Liberty fragrance calendar was under £200 I might have gone for it, but £275?! Wonder if it will sell out rapidly like the Harrods or if it might still be around for any Black Friday discounts.

6poundshower · 27/10/2022 08:17

That makes more sense thank you!

It’s an interesting selection, and I think it’s good value for what’s inside, but you have to like those scents. Too expensive overall for me.

That is a crazy price. You could buy 2 bottles of very expensive perfume you actually want for that money. The Harrods one was priced more sensibly.

This could just be for subscribers, it doesn't say anywhere on the emai either way, no small print etc.

Glossybox advent for £70 with the code EMAIL70

Beauty advent 22 part 2 (massive spoilers)
HashtagShitShop · 27/10/2022 10:01

I've been avoiding the contents of the m and s advent on the whole as I wanted a surprise (not a complete surprise enough to avoid this thread haha) just not to know every single item. When the birchbox ac was on offer for the similar price last night I had a look at the actual contents of m and s and was disappointed.

I already had a birchbox 3month sub from the start of the month with the oct40 code (40 percent off the sub) as I normally purchase the boxes just for Christmas with the black Friday deals.

I'm not an m and s shopper other than food (short legs and long body and large of nork so their stuff doesn't fit my body and their bras wouldn't fit.) and I don't need anything from the beauty range or house so would have struggled spending the extra 30 quid to get it for 40 too so it would have been a waste all roads round. (I preferred it the first year the m and s advent came out and you could buy food to make the price come down!) it's a shame though cos the box is lovely this year!

Zeeza · 27/10/2022 10:08

I find it very easy to spend 40 quid in marks in home or beauty or kids though. Christmas decorations and wrapping paper and cards all count too.

I find it easy to spend in M&S but I'm not sure about the calendar this year. I might get one for my mum.

As for the £40 spend, I like M&S underwear, tights, leggings, and I often buy something from the menswear department for my dad.

I also ordered this recently and was really impressed:

https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-v-neck-3-4-sleeve-blouse/p/clp60549815?extid=psps-gplaagglwwwch--UK---baussc&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm833uZGA-wIVheetCh0OmAIEAQYASABEgJUEPDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Good quality for the price. Everything I ordered from Boden on the other hand was shocking quality. All thin and flimsy and much more expensive. I may be checking out M&S clothing more often. I think they've upped their game!

AprilLady · 27/10/2022 11:27

I’ve got an email about a CB good bag - looks okay: £150 min spend and GWP worth £245 including some full sizes.
The CB Christmas edits do count for the spend, so worth going for if you’re planning to get some edits in any event.

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 27/10/2022 11:40

I've been considering buying some Revitalash which is close to £100 and also need some sun cream so I might end up going for the CB gift, I saw the email but haven't had chance to look at it properly yet.

Giftwithpurchase · 27/10/2022 13:02

John Lewis is offering a winter radiance beauty box free with £100 spend on beauty (worth £190 apparently). Looks nice & a few perfumes included. However doesn't appear to work with the advent calendar 😒

I can’t seem to find this offer on the JL website; is it just for card holders?

Giftwithpurchase · 27/10/2022 14:06

@EmmatheStageRat yes I think it is just for members

polmnlj · 27/10/2022 14:39

22% off H&B calendar with code APPYPAYDAY in app

RazorstormUnicorn · 27/10/2022 14:47

I am JL member and just got their advent calendar and the beauty box for free.

I wasn't going to buy one but that offer was too good to miss!

6poundshower · 27/10/2022 15:02

I am a member, how do I find the JL deal, can't see it in my rewards...

Metabigot · 27/10/2022 15:03

I got the advent calendar and beauty box too. I was sent an email @6poundshower and clicked through that so check the email assocaited with your account.

It's a really good deal - ive arranged to pick it up tomorrow from my local JL so will report back

polmnlj · 27/10/2022 15:29

No John Lewis beauty box offer for me :(

Giftwithpurchase · 27/10/2022 15:31

Code is MYJLBEAUTYBOX but it doesn't work with the advent calendar for me when I try it

Giftwithpurchase · 27/10/2022 15:33

@MidnightMeltdown agree with M&S clothes, it's practically my go to shop now! I also really rate the Goodmove activewear range - I could spend £30 VERY easily haha

bewarethetides · 27/10/2022 15:37

Can't justify JL, even with the beauty box offer that arrived in my inbox. But I did order a beauty item I wanted to try to get the M&S calendar this afternoon. Not exciting, but I always use the products that come in it, so good value for me.

Dailymash · 27/10/2022 15:57

I have now purchased the JL advent calendar complete with beauty box!

I’ve had a frantic few months, been flogging on working outside and spinning so many plates but the end is in sight and the advent calendar will be a really lovely run up to Christmas for me. The beauty box will see me through November Grin It’s better than medicating with wine surely?

Anyway thank you for the code for the box @Giftwithpurchase as it really swung it for me. I added the box first then the calendar which worked.

AnnieSnap · 27/10/2022 15:57

I have just ordered the M&S one - I’d been waiting to order some jeans. I’m so pleased with it. There will be a couple of duds for me (I can’t use mascara and I’, still working my way through the unimpressive Aveda hair stuff from last year), but for me, it’s really good value.
