Beauty advent 22 part 2 (massive spoilers)

I don't know the etiquette of starting a runover of someone else's thread. I hope this is OK.

Reminder advent22 gives a hand-wash and handcream free gift on space nk.

I bought it, but now I have alight regret. I should have held out to see what harrods had.

The CEO cream wasn't 5oz as had been trailed on many calendar sites, but 0.5oz, 15ml. 5oz would have been a ridiculous size so that makes sense.

@EmmatheStageRat I was looking at The Body Shop one for DD as it seems amazing value but not sure about ordering from Brand Alley! Reviews look a bit mixed and you can't explore the website without signing up for an account first 🤔

@LookdeepintotheParka , I echo the appreciation for Brandalley above. I’ve never had any issue with them at all. The only slight gripe is the flat £5.95 delivery charge. But that’s minor detail when you’re saving in the region of 30-50 per cent of brands like Le Creuset (I’m a kitchenware geek). I’ve shopped with Brandalley for years and bought Cheaney brogues, Dock & Bay beach towels, Anglepoise lamps, Piglet in Bed linen bedding and now The Body Shop AC.

I combined the advent calendar with an Anglepoise lamp for £72 that is currently selling for £115 on the John Lewis website. This way the £5.95 delivery charge feels more acceptable.

AprilLady · 22/10/2022 13:29

Agree re BrandAlley. They are used by manufacturers to sell older stock, and it is definitely genuine. I have also bought various things from them over time (eg sheets, towels, kitchenware), all genuine.

@Metabigot which one did you get ? I’m so tempted by some of the gift sets. It’s very exciting to have Sephora here again 😊

It was the advent calendar. £139 but with 20% back on topcashback (although my cash back never came through so they are looking in to it). With the free gift bag on top it's excellent value. I can't tell you what the free gift bag is supposed to be as it was never mentioned when I purchased, it just came in another box with the AC very unexpectedly but very welcome.

LadyLapsang · 22/10/2022 14:37

Finally succumbed to John Lewis as I love Sunday Riley CEO, John Lewis vouchers and MyJL discount code made it great value.

Metabigot · 22/10/2022 17:47

I have had 3 advent calendars now, opening them now rather than Dec and trying to sell off enough to cover my costs and get s lovely stash of stuff for free

Here are my thoughts

Sorry if I've got items mixed up between calendars I try to remember which is which

JL is definitely the best for value and quality. I've kept the charlotte tilbury eyeshadow paulas choice liquid exfoliant, eye cream face mask votary oil, scalp scrub and some other things. All good brands and lots of full sizes

Space NK also good with the 20% off, loving bum bum cream, Cream blusher, air dry hair cream and the shower gel and snowflake candle

Senhora only arrived today so not fully opened but the natasha denona eyeshadow, too faced mascara and Philip Kingsley elasticiser elemis glow primer re definitely on the keep list. The extra free beauty bag was great too lots of minis.

Getting a huge stash to last the year.

Really recommend the Sephora as best value especially with topcashback 20% off making it £111.

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 22/10/2022 17:50

The last code posted works for 10% of cult beauty but that’s not enough for me. Will wait to see if they discount it further.

LookdeepintotheParka · 22/10/2022 19:07

Thanks @AnnieSnap @EmmatheStageRat and @AprilLady for the replies about Brandalley. Annoyingly I went to buy the calendar and it has now sold out but there's a few other beauty bargains on there!!

FredaFox · 23/10/2022 11:31

I still only have one calendar and want one for January but can't decide
None are blowing me away enough

MidnightConstellation · 23/10/2022 11:51

Does anyone think the Liberty calendar will be reduced?

Zeeza · 23/10/2022 12:17

I think not. Maybe a gwp or points event if you are lucky.

I think they will have no choice but to reduce them if they’re still there in mid November

MidnightMeltdown · 23/10/2022 12:40

It's hard to say @MidnightConstellation

I don't think that it's ever been reduced before, but they might off a 10% off if it's still around on Black Friday.

I've bought Liberty and I have to say, having peaked in the drawers, Liberty is a bit smaller than other high end calendars.

The claimed value is high, but when you compare it to say, Cult Beauty, for example, it just looks a lot less generous.

They used to be the one to get, but the competition is tough for them these days.

Metabigot · 23/10/2022 12:44

I wasn't impressed by Liberty's offering. May consider it if they reduce it to less than £200.

Hard to say. During the first week, you could get 20% cash back via topcashback when you ordered it that way, which made a big difference in the decision making for me as it brought it right down. Like to think they'll at least do that again if they need to...

Couperi · 23/10/2022 13:53

I'm hoping Liberty do a decent GWP and 10 or 25% off soon as I've got all my beauty drop credit to use. Not enough in their calendar to tempt me.

AnnieSnap · 23/10/2022 13:56

I just ordered this beauty advent calendar for my bearded DH

Fancyateapottea · 23/10/2022 13:58

I’ve gone for the Sephora calendar. Thank you for the poster that mentioned the 10% off using the brands you love. That with the topcashback brought it down to about £105 who I think is a bargain for the contents

Fancyateapottea · 23/10/2022 14:00

to and which 🤔

Did your topcashback come through? Mine didn't so I've has to raise a claim which can take up to 3 months to resolve apparently!

LizzieMacQueen · 23/10/2022 15:32

@Metabigot i used the cash back mentioned up thread, might have been yourself who mentioned it, my account has it as pending. Payable in 9 weeks. Which i guess is better than nothing. Did yours not even register your purchase?

Fancyateapottea · 23/10/2022 15:54

Ye, mine tracked straight away luckily. It’s always a bit of a risk with it, I’ve found things haven’t tracked in the past.

No, not registered. Very disappointing but I've put in a claim.

Stokey · 23/10/2022 21:09

Hello, sorry I haven't read through everything but thought you calendar experts would be best placed to help. DD1 is about to turn 13 and is getting into make-up. What would people recommend as a cheapish make-up heavy advent calendar?

She's not that into skin care yet, still got clear skin!

KimmySchmitt · 24/10/2022 09:38

All the Cult Beauty Christmas edits are available now, I've just ordered the fragrance one. Really pleased with it! Blue Light discount didn't work unfortunately or it would have been a massive bargain, but hopefully I got cashback.
