Beauty advent 22 part 2 (massive spoilers)

I don't know the etiquette of starting a runover of someone else's thread. I hope this is OK.

Reminder advent22 gives a hand-wash and handcream free gift on space nk.

I bought it, but now I have alight regret. I should have held out to see what harrods had.

The CEO cream wasn't 5oz as had been trailed on many calendar sites, but 0.5oz, 15ml. 5oz would have been a ridiculous size so that makes sense.

Thanks @PanicAtTheBigTesco that looks perfect for her. Knew this thread would have the experts!

Adventadventures · 25/10/2022 09:17

So is anyone buying the Marks and Spencer Advent?
I cant decide the price point is always tempting and I do love the box but I will be drowning in product soon.
I have to go into town this week anyway so might pop in and have a look at it face to face (and hopefully resist!)

Peridot1 · 25/10/2022 09:25

I’m thinking of it @Adventadventures. Well was planning on it really. Although like you I’m drowning in product. But know how much I love having an advent calendar to open. And I really like the look of the Sephora one.

as you say the box is nice (and more useful) in the M&S one. And I have a couple of things in my basket on M&S anyway.

There doesn’t seem to be a standout winner this year. They’re all so expensive now too. Most seem to have way too many sample sizes and they’re all flogging the same stuff (Augustus Bader, Olaplex no3, Molecule perfume, Neom candles). I don’t wear red lipstick or black eyeliner or false lashes or garish eyeshadow palette (who does other than drag queens?). It all feels so lazy and they’re obviously shifting stuff that was gifted by PR for these brands.

ajandjjmum · 25/10/2022 10:09

I plan to get the M & S box for myself, as I haven't bought a luxury advent this year - too much stuff to get through already. Having said that, I might change my mind if there are some good discounts. Grin

MoriaRoseForever · 25/10/2022 11:03

Do we know yet what is in the M&S box ? I liked it last year, good price and enjoying the thread when people opened each day and reviewed what they thought .

MidnightConstellation · 25/10/2022 11:05

I had a look this morning. A bit underwhelming really.

MoriaRoseForever · 25/10/2022 11:05

Just answered my own question …

MoriaRoseForever · 25/10/2022 11:06

Doesn’t give sizes though.

MoriaRoseForever · 25/10/2022 11:07

Or colour of the eyeliner and mascara. I liked the brown last time .

MoriaRoseForever · 25/10/2022 11:07

Box has a mirror as part of it !

I highly recommend Sephora. I've opened mine Blush and it's excellent.

It came to about £105 with all the discounts so really good value.

The only things I won't use are the angel perfume and the black eyeliner but will gift these to a friend who I know will like them.

MidnightMeltdown · 25/10/2022 11:31

Speaking of M&S, I tried the Phillip Kingsley elasticiser for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised!

I've had a couple of these hanging around for ages that I hadn't bothered to use as seemed like too much hassle. I've used Olaplex before and it did absolutely nothing for my hair, so I was expecting this to be the same

However today my hair is super smooth and completely frizz free. I'm impressed!

There seem to be several Sephora calendars. Which one do you have please?

I was the same, I never use hair products so it took until I had about 4 bottles of it hanging around to give it a go.

I don't think it does much for the condition of my hair but it definitely gives a nicer finish once I've blow dried it so I now use it whenever I'm going on a night out/to an event and want nice hair!

I’ll be buying it, but not others. Last year was the first time I bought a beauty advent calendar (they just weren’t on my radar before that 🤷‍♀️). I really enjoyed it. It introduced me to products I hadn’t considered, that have become favourites. If I bought one of the others, I like you, would be swimming in products and many I’d never use. I also can’t justify the prices (I spend far too much on clothes!).

ShhDoNotTell · 25/10/2022 13:16

I was debating on the M&S but my god are the contents dreary. Same stuff in every calendar ever. I think the brands need to up their game. We are getting bored..

MostDefinitelynotanAthlete · 25/10/2022 14:23

Not an advent calendar but this has just popped up on my Insta feed www.hearstmagazines.co.uk/harpers-bazaar-beauty-box-awards-12

Adventadventures · 25/10/2022 15:21

@MidnightMeltdown What discounts did you use for Sephora?

@MidnightMeltdown What discounts did you use for Sephora?

Someone mentioned up thread that if you add Sephora as one of your favourite brands on feel unique then you get 10% off, so I did that. Also bought through top cashback, which had a good offer on Sephora.

polmnlj · 25/10/2022 20:19

20% off HoF calendar with code FF20.

MidnightMeltdown · 25/10/2022 20:40

Debenhams is 30% off. Still don't think it's worth it though!

Stokey · 25/10/2022 21:23

I wonder whether fewer will still out this year. I haven't really engaged yet but just watched a few youtubers today. What struck me was firstly a lot of repeat products that I have and barely use - Ren toner, Augustine Bader, Nars blusher, Noble Isle/Bamford shower gels - and secondly the price increases.

Nothing is singing out to be so far. Sephora one looks good as the price is good, but am not that excited by the products.
