M&S have changed their trouser length, but it's a secret!!

So, went to try on jeans today in M&S. I am a 5 ft 6 height, always been regular length.

Tried on regular length jeans, and they are too long. Happened to have a short pair in the changing room with me anyway and they were spot on.

My mum, who was also trying on jeans, wear a short length and they are too long for her. She's 5 ft 2. There is no extra short term length.

Spoke to a staff member and yes, they have changed the leg length but not advertising it. "Yes, lots of people have been caught out and complained about it!"

So beware if you are ordering or trying on and take a shorter than normal length in with you.

That's an absolute disaster for me. There short jeans are the only ones that fit me. What do I do now? I'm 5ft 4 which I believe is average height for a UK woman.

And since when are M & S loyal shoppers young people?

They should jeans/ trouser lengths the same as men’s- in an actual measurement

Bonmarche is always thought of as an old ladies dress shop but their jeans are brilliant - size 10 - 28 and leg length from 25" and different types of fit. Buy mine from there now.

I spent my first two decades searching for decent trousers/jeans for the long of leg and failing miserably, had to buy men's jeans which was depressing as a teenager.
This late 40s 5ft 11 woman is very pleased with legs getting longer 😁. At least if they're too long you can alter or roll. Can't do much when they're half mast!

Why on earth have they done that! Why not publicise it! Weird marketing strategy.

I'm 5'2".

I bought a pair of short tracksuit bottoms in M&S and the ankle cuff was nearly on my calf muscle they were so short.

So, my most recent purchases (which are due to be delivered in the next few days) I bought a 'regular' length leg.

I'm going to have to get them taken up, aren't I???

I thought the Short was the 29" and the Regular was 31"

This is going to really tick me off. I used to be able to go in, take the size I wanted off the rail and then only have to check to make sure it was the "Short" leg length.

Long was perfect on me ☹️ Now it’s too long but regular is just too short.

As a 5ft 10 woman this is wonderful news 😬.

Regular now fits me, I have a 32 in inside leg, I’m 5 ft 8 and have always taken a long in m & s.

Seems a bizarre thing to do. Why not just introduce an extra long version as an extra choice, not the default?

They do an extra tall length in certain trousers already. I’m 5’10” and my inside leg is 35”, I’d be glad of the length.

I always find M and S long too short. I’m 5ft 8.

l don’t have legs like a giraffe so I’m not sure why I’m so freakish?

But I’m glad they’ve made them longer.

As a tall person I've noticed it getting easier and easier to find correct length trousers in shops, rather than being told to order online or, in pre internet days, just having to go around with my jeans flapping around my calves like a Dickensian orphan. The population is getting taller (have you seen teenagers now??) and the worm has turned. Sorry, short women. Consider this the flip side of when we were teenagers and boys who hadn't hit their growth spurts were only interested in talking to you.

It's a lot easier to shorten trousers than to lengthen them. M& S are trying to widen their target audience

I went to M & S today to buy new jeans, wearing my old Eva Slimboot jeans of a few years, in Long. I didn’t even realise Eva was the M @ S brand so this was a coincidence. I tried on “The Eva Bootcut” in a regular, since I saw they were the same length. The “long” was definitely not the “long” in my old jeans!

My Mum once came out of the Next changing rooms thrilled to have found some trousers the right length for her. I checked the label, they were Capri pants from the tall range!!!

She buys her jeans from the kids section.

I’m just over 5 ft 4 inches, but I have very long legs for my height (32 and a half inch inside leg length) In M & S I usually take a size 10 long trousers, but the last two pairs I have actually bought regular, so this makes sense to me. I always used to look out in sales for short jeans and jeggings to wear as crops. I won’t be able to do that any more, but at least the regular ones will still fit.

Oh, I found this the other day! So annoying, I didn't have time to try on a load of short lengths after I found the regulars were too long. I'm 5' 6" so not exactly short, just average.

I wonder where this actually came from... have people complained that their long trousers are too short?
