Is the Boots website basically unusable for anyone else?

Everytime I search for something, it makes me sign in... then it tells me I'm signed in elsewhere... then when I try to pay, I have to keep signing in again and again!

Is it just me?

They are totally shit, and I don't trust the safety of my data with them either.
I had an issue where they kept sending me emails with 2 different advantage card numbers on them, but when I tried to sort it out with them, they said they had no record of an account for me.

I sent them a photo of my card (which doesn't match the card number on the account anyway), every address I have ever lived at since I was 4 years old, my email, my telephone number, my full name which hasn't ever changed, my DOB etc.

We went round in circles for days - first they said they'd located my account but the address didn't match. Then they said they'd located it but the full name, DOB and address, and email didn't match what I'd given them (despite the fact my full name is actually printed on the card and I'd sent a screenshot of my Boots account which the card is linked to!)

They also couldn't explain how I received emails and offers through the post if all of my details were wrong.

I wrote to their DPO and asked what data they had on me, but they wouldn't tell me because as far as they are concerned, I don't have an Advantage Card. they refused to understand that they have clearly made an error with my data, and basically told me to bugger off!

Phew, sorry, that was long and completely unrelated to the original OP.

Yes, and after a few attempts everything you thought you had removed magically reappears in your basket and you realise you are trying to pay for 8 boxes of L'Oreal Ash Blond and 18 packets of Menopace worth £358.

Oh did that happen to you recently? It was a fair few months ago but at one point I was about to buy 120 packets of nappies. It just kept adding to the number!

Only last week.

dontputitthere · 24/10/2022 21:52

I also have the website coquettishly refusing to tell me what's in my basket.

Like it's a fucking mystery.

Oh and it won't let me order on the app. Demands my address. It has my address. It's always had my address. No it needs another mystery address. Maybe I just need to guess the address it's thinking of?

Customer services are shit too. I mean it's an all round shit show.

Usernamqwerty · 24/10/2022 21:54

Oh my! I thought it was just me! Their website is rubbish and drives me nuts!

Winceybincey · 24/10/2022 22:07

i stopped using them 3 years ago as I couldn’t check out and my basket kept emptying. Customer services told me to clear cache/cookies and it should work. Finally it did work on the 20th time but then it kept happening again and again so stopped shopping with them.

last week I wanted something and decided to try them again. Same thing kept happening, same advice from customer services. Why should it be such hard work just to place an order? And 10 days for the nearest delivery slot? It’s madness.

Boots have so much competition now from other retailers that not only have fast, efficient websites, but better deals and far better delivery options. I have no idea how they’re still going, it’d be interesting to see their sale figures.

itsnotmeitsu · 25/10/2022 01:06

I realise now my problem with ordering from Boots online isn't a problem at all! Recently I placed two orders on my laptop and haven't experienced anything like this. Both times the orders have been for products that added up to about £15. The ordering part has been straightforward. However the first order I received had a couple of large containers of two different types of hand sanitiser included, and the second order I received had another large bottle of a hand sanitiser. It seemed completely random and as I have about 10 bottles of mini hand sanitisers acquired over the course of the covid-19 virus still left over, I think it'll take about 15 years for me to decant the Boots ones into my portable mini ones. So, not a problem, just weird 🤔

lentilly · 25/10/2022 06:15

@itsnotmeitsu I may have an answer to this one as I recieved a similar "free item" and contacted them on SM. Turns out it was because the order had been packed in a store and they were giving them away as a free gift.

I imagine they are winding down their stock before it expires!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 25/10/2022 06:38

The thing that pisses me off is that you can’t use your Boots points for part payment. You have to have enough points to cover the whole purchase. However you can use them for part payment in store. What nonsense.

SimonaRazowska · 25/10/2022 08:09

Yes I gave up ages ago

it us a very bad website, keep getting logged out, wrong pages appearing

Saurus72 · 25/10/2022 11:21

It’s truly dreadful - I recently discovered that you can’t use Boots gift cards to buy from their website, only in stores. Which would be OK if the stores had the same brands but they don’t. Now I have £50 in gift cards that’s pretty useless.

itsnotmeitsu · 25/10/2022 22:26

@lentilly > I did think that. After it happened a second time I mentioned to my husband that I wondered if they'd over-stocked on this stuff during the panademic and are now trying to get them of the shelves so they've got room for other stuff - the dog's looked very clean lately 😀

Cantonet · 25/10/2022 22:53

Oh yes & don't trust their boots points promises either. Especially when ordering via the online doctor. In my case I was promised a large number of points that were never added. They assured me they were added even though I'd checked my account. So then I messaged the main Boots account on Facebook only for them to refer me back to the online doctor for them to add the points. Oh yes & you have to fill in a form to request these points as well, even though it's their problem. I've now done this twice, as they promised me 500 points on completion of a customer survey. Guess what several weeks later this still hasn't materialised.
I now will never order from the online doctor service again on principal, having been reprimanded initially for daring to request my points.

FiveShelties · 26/10/2022 10:27

I thought it was because I am overseas - sometimes I can log on, other times it sends a code to my cell and I put that in and then it sends a code to my cell etc etc.

Have given up.

SpringSparrow · 26/10/2022 10:40

I had a problem with them recently, same that they kept randomly emptying my basket and refilling it, and then during checkout changed my home delivery to store pick up 😡. When I tried to cancel, no orders can be changed once checked out even though they changed the delivery during the check out process. So I had to go into store to get it which is what I’ll wanted to avoid by ordering online 😡.
