Is the Boots website basically unusable for anyone else?

Everytime I search for something, it makes me sign in... then it tells me I'm signed in elsewhere... then when I try to pay, I have to keep signing in again and again!

Is it just me?

I tried looking for E45 and gave up.

JulesJules · 12/08/2022 21:40

Boots is so bad, it's like it's a front for something else

That's not a bad theory.. I mean who would make a site that bad?!

ThistlyPerf · 12/08/2022 22:05

I ordered something last week, and somehow in between the proceed to payment page and order confirmation page, 2 random items which I hadn’t even been looking at worth £70 had been added! How can that happen?? Was not impressed by their customer service response either but luckily managed to get a refund in store (despite the young lad at the till intimating my doddery middle aged self must have added the items accidentally).

wibblewobblewooo · 12/08/2022 22:09

Tbf if you tweet them they are really good at sorting it. I had a weird glitch that meant even though I had checked the amount when I actually paid it had applied an offer incorrectly and I'd been charged full price PLUS the amount that should have been deducted. It was so bizarre but sorted promptly.

Learningtosayno · 12/08/2022 22:10

Hurrah! I'm not going crazy! Smile

Their warehouse was on the breakfast tv news a while back. It's all fancy with robots

PicketRingFenced · 12/08/2022 23:13

Ha yes it is a bit crap but not bad enough that I can't order. It's worse on my phone than laptop

wheresthetimegone4 · 12/08/2022 23:16

Yes. Mine does this. It's a bloody nightmare!!!! It took me ages to do an order the other day. It kept messing about.

SoLongFurlough · 12/08/2022 23:18

Look at it for more than 30 seconds & it wants to know how well their website performed! Drives me crackers

Jadecarrot · 12/08/2022 23:18

I think they will have a major restructure, get rid of some of the huge stores and concentrate on the pharmacy, makeup and convenience communter/travel stores. Huge shops, grotty, poor stock and poor service. Reminds me of Debenhams a few years back.

RooniIWazlib · 12/08/2022 23:19

I hate companies that can't be arsed to even try to improve their services. Their website and app are beyond awful. It's like they don't want customers.

smooththecat · 13/08/2022 01:41

I tried to place an order for months without success. They must be losing £££. I’m kind of expecting them to fold, the website thing is a really bad sign. 😭

uncomfortablydumb53 · 13/08/2022 02:18

Yes, I've given up now, site seems to freeze for me at checkout
I use Superdrug now So much cheaper and their own ranges are excellent

blueblueelectricblue28 · 13/08/2022 02:19

charging customers £1.50 for the privilege of click and collect (if order under £15) is frankly insanity. Boots why must you be so bad?!

bluberries · 13/08/2022 07:55

The only reason I persist is that sometimes my cashback provider offers like 10 or even 20% sometimes. And their offers can be quite good. But the amount of times even then I've given up when I've been chucked out for the 3rd time. Also weirdly they don't have size 2-3 years available as a filter on their mother care clothing but they do stock it.

ZealAndArdour · 13/08/2022 08:07

Yes, website and app are both absolutely awful. In the end I ordered the beauty bits I wanted from asos instead.

TheOGCCL · 13/08/2022 08:18

I’ve not had any issues with either the website or the app and find they have really good deals. My click and collect orders are always ready on time. I get a student discount as it’s linked to my Advantage card too, you can’t do that online with Superdrug. I find the find in store very useful, and generally accurate.

I do think some stores aren’t well set up for collection, you are sort of left hanging around or can’t work out where to go. And there is a massive contrast in their shops. The smaller ones in smaller towns are dreadful and might as well be an independent chemist who has been there 40 years.

HandShoe · 13/08/2022 08:25

Yes it’s awful. The navigation options are clunky and they certainly have lost money from me both from me just giving up (and adding things to Sainsbury order instead) and because I don’t add extra things while browsing, as I just search for the precise item and get out as quickly as I can.

Youngatheart00 · 13/08/2022 08:29

Owned by US private equity and under invested for years and years - this is what happens. They were trying to flog it (to another private equity company 🙄) recently but that sale collapsed. I agree the stores (with a couple of exceptions eg Covent garden) are ridiculously grotty and dated and the website very poor. Used to be a high street highlight now anything but.

firealarmhell · 13/08/2022 08:40

I worked at Boots years ago and it was my best retail role. I was asked what I would improve about Boots in my interview and I said the website! They "overhauled" the website while I worked there, it was bloody awful. I used to do online orders in store for customers on an age old system called dotcom I think. That was easier than the website. The website is still crap now. It's a shame because they have good offers and range of stock but I can't be arsed with it.

Passmeaplacard · 13/08/2022 08:48

Yep it’s painful

AIMummy · 13/08/2022 09:19

Yup really bad. I was looking forward to spending points I had saved for their Tuesday deals this week but it was mostly 'tanning' stuff. I'm Asian. 🙄I think I'll also be moving my custom to Superdrugs like pp once I have cleared my points balance.

Learningtosayno · 13/08/2022 13:45

Has anyone been able to even see which products are in the £25 offer? I can't! Sad

Notbluepeter · 13/08/2022 15:09

The infinite log in loop cycle is infuriating. Also their search function is abysmal. If you get one character wrong (for example spelling deodorant wrong 😬) it returns no results.
I was so angry about their site I actually wrote a complaint email to them about these exact issues....15 years ago! I remember because that's when they asked me to become a product test reviewer. And yet still the site problems continue.
