Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 23/07/2022 12:26

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

@clary I love Elemis moisturisers, but it’s only 15ml, so probably a sachet 🤷‍♀️ Unfortunately, I can’t wear mascara.

MiaN · 13/08/2022 05:34

I usually get either CB or Space NK but from the content - I won't be getting either. Maybe this is the year I don't get beauty advent.

Where can you see the Space NK content? I haven't found it anywhere yet, only pictures of the box?

wibblewobblewooo · 13/08/2022 07:50

You can buy Avant on look fantastic. It's stupidly expensive though. Must just be there for the RRP for the calendar.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 13/08/2022 08:28

@SocksAndTheCity reallyree.com has a preview of the space NK contents.

Twinsandsome · 13/08/2022 08:33

Yes, it's last years - I had that one. The pictures of the red box are new but the list isn't.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 13/08/2022 09:00

Ah thank you, I didn’t get last year’s so thought it was this! Sorry for the false alarm 😳

ajandjjmum · 13/08/2022 09:24

I thought the Next one looked good - didn't realise it was a small items until I saw it on here. Thank you to everyone who is more switched on than me - stopping me making silly decisions! Grin

supadupapupascupa · 13/08/2022 10:10

Generally speaking you get what you pay for. The cheaper it is, the smaller the sizes. I look at total value and work out how much the key items I want are worth.

clary · 13/08/2022 10:53

Actually the Elemis in the Next one is a small tube so, while not a 30ml pot, it is still a reasonable amount. Also the lippy is a full size and a good colour for pale skin/dark hair (me) and I would say blonde hair too; the nail polish is nice if you wear that, and the candle is good too. I mean it's £90 so as @supadupapupascupa says, you get what you pay for. I actually think it's not a bad buy. I won't get it as I have the lipstick and don't do nail varnish, but otherwise it would be worth getting I think, as long as you were aware that some sizes are very small.

Flannels:

MidnightMeltdown · 13/08/2022 12:07

Flannels looks quite good, but there are 3 eyeshadow doors which I find disappointing. Still think that I prefer Cult Beauty to this.

Yeah. Flannels looked much better last year. Disappointing as they didn't ship to Ireland last year and they do now.

I find this a good general rule in life, but the Marks and Spencer Calendar is the cheapest (I think) and last year (the only one I’ve had) was full of good size, excellent products. It introduced me to This Works products, which I now love.

MidnightMeltdown · 13/08/2022 13:10

Ah see I prefer this years Flannels to last years. Last years didn't appeal to me at all. Still don't think that I'll buy it though.

Thankfully there's enough variety we can all find something we like 😁

supadupapupascupa · 13/08/2022 15:38

I'm holding out for either Liberty of Harrods. They've been worth the outlay for me. If they repeat to much I might just save the money and not bother this year.
The fenwick one two years ago was fab and coincided with a gwp which made it amazing!

Ilikeviognier · 13/08/2022 16:10

The m & s one was great last year. I also had Holland and Barrett and was disappointed tbh. That said, the 2020 H&B one was much better.

Doubleraspberry · 13/08/2022 17:13

The Picture Perfect primer and the Elemis Marine cream (those 15ml tubes last surprisingly long) have been the best calendar discoveries for me over the years.

IconicKitty · 15/08/2022 19:17

First spoilers for Space NK... beauty-detective.com/space-nk-advent-calendar-2022/

That's only 10 products, but I'm not excited so far. I liked it last year, but may go for John Lewis instead this time round.

Not bad but concerned about shade choice for one of those. Won't spoil it in thread

TheDuchessOfMN · 15/08/2022 19:54

I was just about to pass a comment on one of the products, but just realised we probably aren’t allowed discuss the contents? (Spoilers)

MidnightMeltdown · 15/08/2022 20:58

I would say that it's fine to discuss the contents. Does anyone buy an advent calendar without checking the contents first?

Doubleraspberry · 15/08/2022 21:02

I think quite a lot of people do. I used to. I started checking the contents before buying a couple of years in, especially when I realise I then forget!
