Wont let me upload pics atm. Will try again...

And assistant said in store before online to tempt people back in real life to stores...🤔

Well, they should have stores in more places then. Completely absent in S/W Scotland!

Grump!

That got me delurked! 😆

ilovecherries · 30/08/2022 13:21

I’m in SW Scotland too, agnesmartin. Pretty bloody annoying if that’s their attitude to be honest, when people have bought from them for years.

Countmeout · 30/08/2022 13:28

I would willingly go to a shop if there was one here too.
At the moment they’re just annoying those of us who have no alternative but to shop online.

Somtimes toast completely baffle me!
So -BH and payday weekend and they arent putting their collection on line so that people go to shops instead.Confused
Erm what!?
Along with their pushing of old stuff via toast circle wonder if they want to go out of business?
Its also frankly not inclusive of disabled, CEV and those on a budget.
Ridiculous

Laska2Meryls · 30/08/2022 15:31

Annoying my nearest ones are London, Brighton or Bath.. none of them actually 'near' ..
If there was one in Winchester or Chichester (both the kind of 'posh' cathedral towns they seem to think fit their aesthetic) I could go for a day trip quite easily ..But nope. 😪

Mine sre miles away. From NW and the nearest is Edinburgh, which is miles away.
I've actually widened my buying habits. Toast prices are OTT and I'm fed up with their ridiculous attitude to no discounts and all the rubbish about going in to their shops. Hardly moving with the times. Which is clearly improving online buying.

@NoCureForLove - is the waist of the cord skirt elasticated? It seemed that way from the pic but couldn't be sure

I'm quite cross about the in store only thing too. I don't mind looking in store, but prefer buying online as I don't have to struggle in a tiny, baking hot changing room. I also really dislike the manipulation aspect!

NoCureForLove · 30/08/2022 19:52

The blue skirt I bought is the same shape as the denim workwear one shown online - so biggish round patch pockets, a small slit centre front, fixed waistband.

There was another style of much finer needlecord skirt in navy and mustard which may have had an elasticated waist... was v thinnish fabric and potentially a bit frumpy with pleats at the waist...

faustina · 30/08/2022 21:43

Thank you @NoCureForLove - that's the denim skirt that looked so awful on me. I so wanted to like it, but it didn't like me!

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 31/08/2022 08:54

I'm delurking to agree about the shops! York and Harrogate are doable for me but as a planned day out so I usually don't have the time or inclination. Having one more centrally in Leeds or Manchester would tempt more people in, surely?

ToastCosILoveIt · 31/08/2022 08:59

I agree re the lack of shops outside of London and also the lack of thought in putting things online in a timely way even though that's where most of the loyal customers are! Also not giving loyal customers a single discount (save for the sale) across the year. Toast should at least introduce some sort of loyalty card or a discount code if you spend over a certain amount.

Like others, I am broadening my horizons in terms of looking elsewhere. Folk is coming up again and again for me, although similar prices to Toast. Also I am looking more at Vintage: cheaper and more sustainable.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 31/08/2022 09:06

The shops aren’t really doable for me, it’s either a long day out or only as part of a trip away to London.
Also I like the time to try things on in my own home (more than once usually) see what they will go with, and generally be relaxed when I decide.

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy going to a Toast shop looking at the fabrics and comparing pieces, but it’s certainly not viable for me on a regular basis.

Noeggsontoast · 31/08/2022 12:59

My nearest shop is Cambridge but it's a bit of a faff to go so I go only occasionally, they often don't have the size or all the stock so it can be a disappointing trip when I do venture for a mooch. Now uniform research have started stocking Toast I'll be a more regular visitor there as it's just 20 mins away but again limited stock but they do have Folk and Sideline. I have also been shopping elsewhere for items, managed to find a workwear navy twill jacket by Folk two weeks ago for just £30 - heavily discounted and an almost identical denim dress/coat to the famous one with the mushroom for just £25 by massimo dutti earlier in the year - one of my most favourite and most worn pieces. I agree re loyal customers and lack of discounts. I guess they believe their value add is provided by their free online workshops and repair services and kindred gifts - the whole buying into the lifestyle, so no need for discounts. The price hikes have been very steep these past few months so I'm spending more time dissecting the pieces they offer and looking at where I can source similar/identical elsewhere. Easy for their plainer pieces but more tricky for their prints and I do love a nice print. I do wonder what will become of Toast in a year or two based on their current approach.

MrsCat1 · 31/08/2022 13:26

I think they have a point about encouraging people into their stores, although clearly not possible for a lot of people. I'm keen for real shops to survive so don't mind if that means holding off putting stuff online for a week or two. I don't live near any of their shops (an hour or so to the closest) but I might just be tempted to make a day out of it soon. So I guess we are all different.

I'm less keen on all the other stuff that Toast does - wokshops, talks etc - I personally like a straightforward sales model with no extra 'fluff'!

Ilovemyshoes · 31/08/2022 17:05

Delurking to give a heads up that the new cord gabi's are online at the end of the trousers section, as I know someone was waiting for them. more wildly expensive jumpers at the end of the jumpers too, neither appear on "new in". I do enjoy reading what you all write but I can't write so eloquently!

Saurus72 · 31/08/2022 17:15

New collection online!!!

Countmeout · 31/08/2022 17:54

I can’t see it @Saurus72 😭. Do I have to log in to my account do you think?

Countmeout · 31/08/2022 17:59

Sorry panic over , it’s all mixed through. 🤦‍♀️

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2022 18:27

The loden gabis are also back in all sizes, (except 6) .. if any one was waiting for them .. I just ordered! They will be great for my holiday..
No indigo Oxford easy shirt yet though, sadly .

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2022 18:29

I love that new fisherman ribbed tunic ! But not the price !

Saurus72 · 31/08/2022 18:40

I’d like to try the cotton cashmere dress and maybe the plum checked one too, I could do with an autumn day dress.

Gonegrey31 · 31/08/2022 18:46

Laska2Meryls there is an indigo twill easy shirt online which looks like a new item to me - is this perhaps what you were looking for?

faustina · 31/08/2022 19:13

Exciting! Off to have a look
