Reporting back from my Edinburgh store trip….
The whole shop was full to the brim of new stock. I would say 75% of what was there was new. They said it will all be online on the 1st and launching properly in stores next weekend.
The padded cotton jacket looks very much like the green and black ones from last year. They only had a large in stock, so I didn’t get to try so unfortunately I can’t advise on sizing. The colour is lovely - a rusty red/brown. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing though as the colour would not work with a lot of my bottom halves.
They didn’t have the padded coat, but I got one of the wee catalogues, and it is in that. It looks lovely, and I would say more khaki than brown from the photo in there.
The new cord Gabis are great. A gorgeous jumbo cord fabric. The blue is really lovely, and there is an orangey pink too which is also ace. They had a matching jacket in the orangey pink which was lovely too. Also saw a skirt in the blue jumbo cord, but didn’t pay much attention to style as I am not a skirt wearer.
Lots of needlecord items, including a couple of shirts (one tunic length with a tie at the neck in navy and in a stone kind of colour, which looked interesting, and another more usual length one which I think came in blue and yellow, but I can’t quite remember). The blue dress which we saw on some other stockists’ websites is a brighter blue than the Gabis, and not as nice a colour in my opinion.
There was a shirt with a lovely big collar with cut out sections, in brown (!) and in cream.
I saw the lovely tank that we saw on Toast’s Instagram, but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. The colour is a bit mixed/marled, with other colours through it, which I didn’t love. It also comes in a kind of a wine colour which has a lighter colour through it.
There was a nice cotton linen shirt in a khaki colour with big patch pockets on the front, that I think I saw on Jones Arnhem’s Instagram in the buttercream colour. I thought it was a little thin for autumn though (thinner than the linen cotton stripe and slate ones from summer), and the neck looked a bit high for me.
A chunky ribbed cropped cotton wool
mix v-neck cardigan in navy appealed. I see it in the catalogue in mustard too.
New loungewear, including a shirt, trousers and a dress (I think) in a charcoal cotton cashmere fabric with an off white check. There was also a new version of the summer dress with the check cotton skirt and the jersey too, but this time in a taupe/brown. New nightwear too, but I didn’t pay much attention.
There were some nice big check scarves, though quite brown in their shades.
That’s all I can remember!
