@faustina - thanks for the Thift tip. Bought a Toast dress for £20 (Geo print). Not something I was particularly stalking but thought worth a punt at that price.

Stoic123 · 27/08/2022 11:29

I live in Woodbridge till Jan 2020. Nice to hear that Toast has moved in!

Stoic123 · 27/08/2022 11:30

*lived

Snowyowl78 · 27/08/2022 11:34

i bought the gabis, excited!

Snowyowl78 · 27/08/2022 11:35

They do free delivery, but knock off £5 if you return them to cover costs, I can’t imagine I will return them as I already have some cord gabis

Laska2Meryls · 27/08/2022 12:09

We were in Woodbridge last year, lovely town .
The cotton hemp panel Trousers have arrived! They are fabulous... And despite the huge cost (155) am keeping .
Here I have them on rolled up but they are ankle length

@Laska2Meryls they sound and look great! Tempted again although I seem to have spent a small fortune on toast trousers lately!

Snowyowl78 · 27/08/2022 13:14

Loads of new stuff being posted to Instagram, I wonder why it’s not online!

faustina · 27/08/2022 13:22

@Stoic123 - oh good! Yes, at those prices it's definitely worth a shot, especially as you can return. Hope it's nice!

@Snowyowl78 - I'm finding the way they're doing it really annoying. Not endearing me to the brand at all

Stoic123 · 27/08/2022 14:57

@Laska2Meryls - like the trousers on you. Yes, def a keeper.

ScottishMouse · 27/08/2022 17:37

Reporting back from my Edinburgh store trip….
The whole shop was full to the brim of new stock. I would say 75% of what was there was new. They said it will all be online on the 1st and launching properly in stores next weekend.
The padded cotton jacket looks very much like the green and black ones from last year. They only had a large in stock, so I didn’t get to try so unfortunately I can’t advise on sizing. The colour is lovely - a rusty red/brown. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing though as the colour would not work with a lot of my bottom halves.
They didn’t have the padded coat, but I got one of the wee catalogues, and it is in that. It looks lovely, and I would say more khaki than brown from the photo in there.
The new cord Gabis are great. A gorgeous jumbo cord fabric. The blue is really lovely, and there is an orangey pink too which is also ace. They had a matching jacket in the orangey pink which was lovely too. Also saw a skirt in the blue jumbo cord, but didn’t pay much attention to style as I am not a skirt wearer.
Lots of needlecord items, including a couple of shirts (one tunic length with a tie at the neck in navy and in a stone kind of colour, which looked interesting, and another more usual length one which I think came in blue and yellow, but I can’t quite remember). The blue dress which we saw on some other stockists’ websites is a brighter blue than the Gabis, and not as nice a colour in my opinion.
There was a shirt with a lovely big collar with cut out sections, in brown (!) and in cream.
I saw the lovely tank that we saw on Toast’s Instagram, but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. The colour is a bit mixed/marled, with other colours through it, which I didn’t love. It also comes in a kind of a wine colour which has a lighter colour through it.
There was a nice cotton linen shirt in a khaki colour with big patch pockets on the front, that I think I saw on Jones Arnhem’s Instagram in the buttercream colour. I thought it was a little thin for autumn though (thinner than the linen cotton stripe and slate ones from summer), and the neck looked a bit high for me.
A chunky ribbed cropped cotton wool
mix v-neck cardigan in navy appealed. I see it in the catalogue in mustard too.
New loungewear, including a shirt, trousers and a dress (I think) in a charcoal cotton cashmere fabric with an off white check. There was also a new version of the summer dress with the check cotton skirt and the jersey too, but this time in a taupe/brown. New nightwear too, but I didn’t pay much attention.
There were some nice big check scarves, though quite brown in their shades.
That’s all I can remember!

ScottishMouse · 27/08/2022 17:38

There are some weirdly 90s kick flare trousers in the catalogue which I didn’t see in store but are worrying me. That is not a good shape, I hope it is not coming back around again.

Snowyowl78 · 27/08/2022 17:40

Wow @ScottishMouse amazing report! Thanks!

ScottishMouse · 27/08/2022 17:41

Oh, and the padded jacket also comes in a navy stripe. It looked like the same fabric they did the Alix trousers in maybe last summer. Navy with a white stripe, quite stiff fabric for the Alix I seem to remember. I feel like someone (@Laska2Meryls ?) has them.

ScottishMouse · 27/08/2022 18:03

More is coming back to me…
I saw the indigo shirt that a few people have mentioned. The one that is the same cut as the white and blue Oxford ones, and the Lys one. Lovely, but the fabric is quite thick and I wonder if it would hang well.
There was an interesting jersey shirt (thinner jersey than the dark grey one with white buttons that has been around in both short and long sleeved versions) in a thin stripe in khaki and black (or maybe navy, hard to tell). It looked like a cute layer for autumn.
I didn’t try anything at all, which I realise is a bit useless to you all, but will likely go back and do so another day when I have more time.

MsDastardley · 27/08/2022 19:11

I’ve never bought anything from Toast before, but tempted by the denim skirts. I like the contrast stitch and patch pocket skirts. Anyone tried them.

Countmeout · 27/08/2022 19:37

Wow @ScottishMouse thank you. That’s so comprehensive.
Look forward to seeing everything online on the 1st.
I thought that indigo shirt might not hang well. Might need to try it though.
The padded coat may be more wearable than the jacket from what you say.

Great trousers @Laska2Meryls btw. Look good on.

faustina · 27/08/2022 19:42

@ScottishMouse - thank you so much for taking the time to write all that! Those trousers are weird looking aren't they! Curious as the how they style them. I didn't realise there were some other Gabis as well as the blue and dark pear. Very interesting!

faustina · 27/08/2022 19:43

forgot to add - @Laska2Meryls - the trousers are lovely on you

faustina · 27/08/2022 19:47

@MsDastardley - I tried the patch pocket skirt on the other day. It has a minute waist compared to usual Toast sizing - which I see other people have commented on in their reviews - so it was disappointing. The next size up was too big everywhere else so I gave up in the idea altogether. There's someone on Instagram called wearsmathilda who has styled it beautifully though

MsDastardley · 27/08/2022 20:03

Thank you faustina. It probably won’t work for me then as I don’t really have a waist! I might order and try.

ScottishMouse · 27/08/2022 20:07

They are so weird looking @faustina. And not in a good weird way. And the shoes that are with them are also a bit 90s looking. The whole thing is not very Toast looking at all.

faustina · 27/08/2022 20:13

Just looked at the shoes - they are really quite grim!

ScottishMouse · 27/08/2022 20:16

Yep, they are @faustina. If this is where we are headed, it will be just as well I will have no disposable income for Toast shopping!
