Which engagement ring?

Hey lovely MN ladies,

My lovely BIL has narrowed down 2 engagement ring choices for his gf.
She wants white gold/halo or pave or both. He's shown me the styles she likes and he's on the right tracks!
Which one in your opinion do you prefer? (there is a video of each ring under the pic if that helps).

ps ignore the cut/clarity as this will be changed it's just about the style.

thank you so much x

First one

3peassuit · 30/05/2022 16:56

Love the second one. I’d go for platinum as it doesn’t need the replating that white gold does.

Marblessolveeverything · 30/05/2022 16:57

I am torn - I really like the pear shape - I always think it sets off a diamond nicely. Classic - unlikely to age badly.

The first one is unusual and less likely to knock off things! Can we choose both? 😂

Vote for second but really cant see him going wrong with first - hth

saliwales2022 · 30/05/2022 16:58

Second!

FleeceNavidadfromtheSheep · 30/05/2022 17:01

No comment on the rings...why doesn't he flip a coin?

RNBrie · 30/05/2022 17:02

Second one. The first one looks nicer in the picture where its actually on a finger but I don't like the way the arms join the stone.

Are they lab diamonds or ‘real’ ones? They seem a bit bling for the price

The only stone of any value is the central one. The surrounding "chips" are surprisingly cheap - like £3-4 each cheap! Probably less for a bulk manufacturer like this one.

Tryhard40 · 30/05/2022 14:48

I love the shape of the first one and the band of the second one, i agree with Tryhard, this one combines the best of both.

Which engagement ring?
Mummumtum · 30/05/2022 20:09

Had a look at FAQs, reads like they are lab diamonds but bit vague.

Mummumtum · 30/05/2022 20:09

Sorry that was reply to @LadyPoison

Wineloffa · 30/05/2022 20:20

Neither I’m afraid! I don’t like the split band on the first one and I’m not a fan of a pear shaped diamond. I think both will date quite quickly.

I second Tryhard40’s suggestion. Much nicer!

Figstar4eva · 30/05/2022 20:30

Second one!
I didn't choose my ring but my DH knew the style I liked. He was spot on, couldn't have picked a more perfect ring if I tried!

dawnn · 30/05/2022 21:22

I prefer the second one.

BeatricePortinari · 30/05/2022 21:32

First one.

I'm not keen on a pear shape diamond personally. I like symmetry all the way round.
(I'm sure there's a word for that!)

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/05/2022 22:11

First one is absolutely stunning!

LadyPoison · 30/05/2022 22:18

Mummumtum · 30/05/2022 20:09

Sorry that was reply to @LadyPoison

The ones in the OP are mined diamonds. This retailer does sell man made stones but labels them very clearly as lab stones.

NoEffingWay · 30/05/2022 22:20

The second is my fave

Nouveaunew · 30/05/2022 23:24

I LOVE the first one and don’t like the second at all tbf … you’re a very nice sis in law

ImAvingOops · 30/05/2022 23:47

I like the first. It's a bit different. What wedding ring would she get?

ericbaker · 08/06/2022 11:19

The second one is perfect but I think you should go for the morganite ring. Morganite is the best alternative for a diamond engagement ring.

xogossipgirlxo · 08/06/2022 14:33

If I had to choose, I'd say 2nd, but none is my favourite.

IRememberXanadu · 08/06/2022 15:49

I much prefer the Carly, the first one. It's less traditional than the other one which would benefit from fewer stones as they simply detract from the central one.
