Has anyone started a sandals thread yet?

I can't see one, so apologies if they have.

A few years ago I had a lovely pair of Steve Madden sandals. The straps were elasticated and never rubbed. The soles were comfy and I could walk for miles in them too. Alas the nude colour has now seen better days.

Has anyone seen anything similar? Or are there equally comfy and stylish sandals out there?

I see you've bought some new ones OP but if you don't want to get rid of your original sandals you can get leather dye for under a tenner on Amazon in various colours which bring old knackered shoes back to life remarkably well.

Ahem. As you were.

Recycledblonde · 18/04/2022 18:08

I'm really tempted by these www.fairfaxandfavor.com/products/the-brancaster-tan

but they are a bit pricey, anyone know of any similar, cheaper ones?

louderthan · 18/04/2022 18:16

After year upon year of bleeding, blistered feet I bought a pair of Tevas last year and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.
I got the 'midform' which is a slightly thicker sole and mine are black with metallic detailing which means they don't actually look like geeky walking sandals (although I work in a uni and that 'look' is very popular among some of the students!)
They were about £55 and I think they'll be good for a good few more years. I got mine off the Teva website but they also have them in Office and Urban Outfitters.
I was in TK Maxx today and there were lots of similar things, ie flat, chunky and simple.

I've got three pairs of Saltwater Sandals, absolutely love them and can walk around all day in them happily, particularly great as I have wide feet

Thanks for the tip, but the straps are elastic rather than leather.

Also anything with dye involved could lead to a massive mishap due to my clumsiness.

[quote Ifeellikedancing]I bought these in black and tan in last years sale. So comfy.

I have the slightly different version of these - Botanic Ivy:

I bought them two years ago & they're so comfy & can spend all day in them. Bought a second pair in the sale last year. Looks like black is the only colour available this year (last year they had black, silver & fuchsia) but did find these on the Clark's Outlet:

Does the dye rub off onto your feet at all?
Cutie101 · 18/04/2022 21:18

I've had a pair of UGG sandals for a few years. They are like wearing clouds. The strap is starting to come away so need to find someone who can see leather back on to leather again.
Bought another pair of UGG sandals and while they aren't as soft and comfy yet, I walked all day yesterday in them and they are getting to the comfy point.
I was about to buy yet another pair of Birkenstocks as had worn through my last pair ..but utter joy, I found another pair of birkenstocks in my shoe cupboard which will now hopefully see me through this summer and fingers crossed for end of season sales!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 18/04/2022 21:35

@KillingMeDeftly

No, never had the dye rub off although I have never worn shoes I have dyed with socks, only bare feet.

I've dyed light coloured shoes other colours but mostly I use the black -it's brilliant for touching up scuffs and general marks due to wear.

KillingMeDeftly · 21/04/2022 07:19

Interesting. I had visions of wearing my freshly-dyed sandals on a hot day only to remove them to discover stripes of colour on my feet!!

doadeer · 21/04/2022 08:16

I love this brand. I have two pairs of these sandals and love them!

@bellaiceberg

Anyone else tired to death of Birks? They're fab shoes and so comfy but I am sick of the sight of them after wearing them solid for over 4 summers now.
Nope Grin I’m fact I’m buying another pair for Summer. I have black Madrids already and going to buy the Arizona Taupes.

I've had my taupe arizona since 2012 and they come out every summer. Occasionally I think I should get rid of them but they go with so much of my wardrobe. Love them,. I have 2 other colours too bought more recently ( like 2019)

Notarealmum · 21/04/2022 10:56

MsRinky · 16/04/2022 11:04

@Notarealmum mine are going back. I have a lot of Esska shoes and am always a 6, but these are a fraction too narrow on the second strap (I do have stupidly high insteps). I'm sure the suede would give, but I want perfection for £130. I think as a 6.5 you'd likely have to go up to a 7 unless your feet are very narrow.

Thanks for the feedback, my feet are wide so they’re probably not the ones for me.

annlee3817 · 22/04/2022 12:53

@Notarealmum my feet are wide (triple E) and the saltwater sandals have been amazing

Pommelegible · 24/04/2022 11:59

Do people find that the back strap gapes on menorcan sandals? I love the look of them but I have narrow heels and I’m not sure if there’d be a lot of strap flapping around where it isn’t adjustable

ICannotRememberAThing · 24/04/2022 18:06

I’ve looked at Saltwater sandals so many times and just assumed they’d be for tall willowy women with narrow feet. I’m going to order some and see if my fat feet fit in them!

Iwantthesummersun · 25/04/2022 07:31

I have decided I’m definitely buying Birks this weekend. I haven’t had a pair in around ten years! Which are best though? Vegan or not?

Billandben444 · 25/04/2022 09:23

I'm full of admiration for those of you buying online/unseen/NOT TRIED ON! I'm pretty broke atm but tried on a White Stuff pair at JL on Saturday for £39, they felt squidgy underfoot and comfy elsewhere but, who knows, if there's the tiniest bit of rub later on I'd be gutted at the waste of money!

Ordered some hotter tourist sandals after reading this thread. They are on sale, got 10% off as a new customer then used PayPal credit and got £20 off so they’ve only cost me £29.50! Result, I hope they are nice and comfy.

FoggySpecs · 25/04/2022 20:01

I tried some from Carl Scarpa, sorry rubbish at links but they were well priced and good quality.

BitterestPill · 25/04/2022 20:43

I fancied a nice chunky dm but in all honesty I just couldn't justify the price so I bought these instead
www.next.co.uk/g644026s5/m43886#m43886?i=Uk10eu44

Black chunky fisherman style...in the Next kids section ...so comfortable with the memory foam foot bed...and they go up to an adult size 7!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 25/04/2022 20:52

I've just bought these, don't think I've ever spent so much on a pair of shoes before but I love them!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 25/04/2022 20:55

Picture might help!

Have you looked at Pavers and/or Hotter? Both very comfy. Different widths available, pretty colours as well as neutral and a few bold, and excellently priced.

Longcovid21 · 25/04/2022 21:28

Don't shoot me but I've just bought a pair of crocs. Comfiest fucking things ever!
