The Flotsam dress just arrived and is going back - the dress itself was nice but the overall impression of it was browner than I thought (had hoped for really), and the sleeves were not a very flattering length. I can’t believe I’ve bought nothing Toastie this season - I really hope I like their next collection because I would like some new clothes! I tried some Jigsaw dresses on at the weekend and they all felt overwhelming - huge puff sleeves, tiers tiers tiers, too house on the prairie for me! On the one hand, it’s kind of nice not to keep wanting to buy but on the other, I would like a few new dresses. Maybe it’s still the Covid effect - weird supply issues, stock hanging over from last year? Who knows - well, I guess I have saved £195 on the flotsam dress…

Looking for advice on which Toast store to visit in London for a try on. My closest is Richmond which is small, I'm also not tooooo far from the one on Kings Road. I don't really want to traipse around too many stores!

ilovecherries · 30/05/2022 12:29

I haven’t seen anything I want at Toast for ages either. I’ve replaced a pair of gabis that I’d actually worn out and bought the east Oxford shirt in early spring but that’s it.

Saurus72 · 30/05/2022 14:02

@ilovecherries Have you found anything you wanted at different shops or are you just not buying?

ilovecherries · 30/05/2022 15:31

saurus, I'm actually being very virtuous and not really buying. Although I did buy a pair of slides and a jumpsuit from Hush recently, but the slides were for the campsite and the jumpsuit replaced an older one that I seem to have grown out of! But I'm generally speaking not seeing anything screaming 'I'm yours, take me home with you' atm.

happysoju · 30/05/2022 23:19

Surprised how quickly my return from New Zealand was processed! Took just 4 days from being picked up by DHL to being refunded. Strangely it took twice as long to arrive.

If you're looking for a one stop shop I'd probably recommend Mayfair, it's quite large. Not my personal favourite (I like Upper Street or Shoreditch) but it does pack a punch, selection-wise!

clb · 31/05/2022 14:48

Notting Hill’s the biggest I think (lurker popping out…).

faustina · 31/05/2022 21:22

Like @ilovecherries (sent you a FB message btw) I've also not been buying much at all. Nothing from Toast since the Alixes, and then just a couple of pairs of shorts from Cos which are brilliant (or at least they were when it was warm enough to wear them). I did order a new duvet cover from Toast - the pretty one with the red stripe at the top, but it hasn't arrived yet, and I did actually need a new duvet cover! - oh and a pair of Birkenstocks .. not from Toast. Maybe not so abstemious after all!

Snowyowl78 · 01/06/2022 06:47

I seem to have bought quite a lot, mainly T-shirts, I have a load of the easy tees which I love and also a blue tank vest thing which is great, I struggle with sleeveless and I think this is a really good fit. I was tempted by some linen trousers but they are so expensive. I also seem to be keeping the Montella jacket which I meant to send back due to price. Have got a bag ready for the sale if it ever comes!

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2022 08:01

I think that there may be a few new things on the site ( but it could be that I haven't looked closely for a while) spotted some new-to -me linen balloon trousers in black coffee and ginger ( and ordered the black) and I hadnt seen the checkerboard
PJ's and nightdress previously..

Still hoping for a June sale although theres only one thing that I really want ..Looks like some of you others are also ( its all gone a bit quiet here!)

Hi everyone, I love Toast and it's so helpful to see what others think. I'm really missing Toast not being in John Lewis anymore, finally went to the Kings Road store, usually buy online. I got the flat panel denim trousers, really lovely, a tiny bit long, wanted the green cotton/linen flat panel trousers but too much to pay all at once. I can see what you mean about the brown now, there was a lot. Waiting for the sale. :-)

Stravaig · 09/06/2022 11:04

@faustina May I ask what you think of the red stripe bedlinen, please? I've been thinking it might mix and match nicely with my ancient raspberry stripe set.

faustina · 09/06/2022 11:12

@Stravaig - it's lovely and I also use it with my pink stripe ticking! Slight hiccup when it arrived as it smelled as if it had been stored in a barn full of manure, but one wash and it was fine! (also one button broke in the first wash and there were no spares so I emailed Toast who have said they've posted some to me). It is really perfect now!

Stravaig · 09/06/2022 11:19

@faustina Oh, thank you! Great minds ... 😆

TheChattyRat · 11/06/2022 19:11

I managed to get to a proper toast shop yesterday - the one in Islington. It is quite small and didn’t have loads of stuff but I was keen to try to 2 denim skirts. I liked both in the end but they are quite different so I am still musing.
I also tried the aster dress which was less brown in real life, but it looked absolutely awful on me - the high neck combined with no sleeves made me look like a block. So not very edifying but I enjoyed the visit. Also saw the flotsam dress, some of the tie dye stuff and the tiered gingham check dress. Some of the indigo trousers looked nice but I’d run out of time to try stuff.
Like everyone else here I am waiting for the sale

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/06/2022 19:27

I’ve been getting my Toast fix on eBay and vinted, really happy with some Alix I’ve bought, there’s so little I like in this seasons collection that I’m not sure I’ll be buying anything in the sale.

I am tempted by the bed linen, which I assume is never in the sale, do they have that in many shops? I’ll be back in London soon and I’d like to see it in 'real life' .

mizu · 11/06/2022 19:42

Went into a TOAST shop today too and tried on both of these. Loved the check ikat one, it was such a lovely weight but at £295 it was a definite no!

faustina · 11/06/2022 20:01

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - bedlinen used to be in the sale sometimes, but not recently. My local Toast is pretty small, but I think I might have seen the odd quilt there perhaps?
Also waiting for the sale, or, even better, a message on here from someone saying they've discovered a secret sale selection!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/06/2022 20:05

Thanks @faustina I don’t remember seeing it when I went to London last time, but possibly because I wasn’t thinking about bed linen then.

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/06/2022 20:44

@mizu , keen to know if the Ikat dress is true to size or you need to size down?

mizu · 11/06/2022 21:18

Depending on the style of dress in TOAST, I'm an 8 / 10 / 12. I am wearing the 10 here and it was a good fit.

10/12 in normal life Grin

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/06/2022 22:46

Thank you@mizu

dudsville · 12/06/2022 07:37

Anyone else obsessively checking their inbox? I wanted to check if I was still a kindred member so logged in the other day, and then went down a rabbit hole looking over all my past orders. The first sale purchases were so cheap but sadly so not have pics of the purchase!

I've seen so many Toast wearers out and about, yesterday i saw women in the new denim skirt, the black and red and black check skirt from last or the year before, the new denim flat fronts, etc..

TheChattyRat · 12/06/2022 10:51

Ooh @dudsville where do you live (roughly)? I’m in West Midlands and never see anyone in toast.

@mizu that check dress in your pic is the aster dress I tried on too? What did you think?
