Dd did exceptionally well today, good recovery from the anaesthetic and is home instead in in HDU! A good day all round 😁

I was just thinking that! (In my sleep deprived, tonsillitis induced state). That’s some pattern, so subtle and perfectly suited to a low profile, unassuming princess 😂 Though I do like the shade of orangey red.

Tatler’s Tiara of the month is very pretty but with such a sad, sad story - the strawberry leaf tiara commissioned by Prince Albert.

That’s some pattern! I’d like to see it with the rest of the national dress too. Mary’s hairstyle is a bit fierce there, and it looks darker, freshly coloured maybe.
That’s a very beautiful tiara! I don’t want to be the next owner though, I’ll admire it from a distances. The fact that it escaped the plane crash unscathed is too creepy for me.

Hi everyone!! Fab thread (as always). Thank you all for making it so fun and interesting.

I mostly lurk, and have posted in the past, but thought I might contribute a bit more from time to time...

I understand there’s the promise of a tiara??

I was thinking today that the umpteen articles/tv appearances/programmes and events about Mary’s 50th might actually be more to do with preparing people for the Queen’s eventual passing (which likely isn’t all that far away, I suppose). It certainly will be a huge shift within the Royal Household and the nation, Queen Margrethe being very much liked and admired by the Danish people (generally speaking of course). It likely is only another 5-10 years until Mary becomes Queen.

The exhibition ‘Mary and the Crown Princesses’ mentioned a while back (I think...?) is held in commemoration of Mary’s birthday and centres around her role and place as crown princess, and I suppose it could seem rather OTT in and of itself, but it’s also very much about the preceding four incoming crown princesses and the family heritage and history encompassed in the role over the past centuries - Including of course, Frederik’s grandmother Ingrid, born a Swedish princess, who was also much loved and admired by the Danes. So it’s about much more than just Mary...I wish I could make it to DK to visit the exhibition as I’d love to gain further insight. Maybe later this year!

(Not saying that Mary isn’t enjoying it all rather a lot as well, naturally! )
