Royal style continues!
Thanks to Deftly for the thread title. Let's hope there's more Gucci and Chanel.....fewer coat dresses..,.

In the photo @gluenotsoup posted, I saw that CPV was quite obviously pregnant.
But nobody commented. I thought that was very odd. Hmm
Fortunately @MotherofPearl enlightened me us by stating it was a photo from 2011. Smile

CliffsofMohair · 28/01/2022 20:18

@LadyEloise1 😂

gluenotsoup · 28/01/2022 20:34

😂 I purposely put 2011 because I knew it would be a double take if I didn’t.

KillingMeDeftly · 28/01/2022 21:08

I spotted your 2011 @gluenotsoup so assumed it was when she was carrying Estelle!

paradyning · 28/01/2022 21:10

While we're on CPV sure you've all seen this beauty.
Made not of diamonds, but cut steel. There is a bandeau version too that Madeleine now Sofia wear.

That's quite a cool tiara

gluenotsoup · 29/01/2022 08:57

The cut steel bandeau is one of my all time favourites. I love that it’s quite edgy, you could have some real fun dressing to that tiara 😍

AdaColeman · 29/01/2022 14:55

If you've got a few spare minutes, there is a interesting snippet of fashion history on the BBC News website at the moment.
It's an article about Madame Clapham, Court Dressmaker, who worked in the late 1800s and early 1900s in Hull.

She made dresses for high society here and in Europe, dressing amongst others, Queen Maud of Norway.
There are some lovely photos in the article, I especially like the group photo of some of her staff.

Search for "Madame Clapham - Hull's trailblazing dressmaker".

RomainingCalm · 29/01/2022 16:17

That steel-cut bandeau tiara is stunning.

SeaRabbit · 29/01/2022 22:04

Oh I do love the feather design cut steel tiara.

When I first discovered cut steel tiaras, I went on a hunt, as a result of which I have a brooch that I made out of an cut steel old buckle, and gosh it does sparkle. The very old pieces were made by hand: later they were machine-made IIRC, and mine is just wobbly enough underneath to be hand made.

Here is a round up of some of Kate's shoes.

Not many flats compared to heels!

LOVE the block heels. The look so much less dated than stilettos imho.

Maireas · 30/01/2022 13:08

That's interesting, Ada, thank you.
@Laiste - good point about the block heels, they do look a bit more modern.

That is a fantastic shoe collection by anyone’s standards😍🤯.
I have a soft spot for any Aquazurra shoes, and there are some very nice sandals on there, very glam. The platforms are of their time, but nice in their day.

KillingMeDeftly · 30/01/2022 13:55

She really was wedded to the nude stiletto and wedge for her first few years as a royal, wasn't she? I find a lot of the shoes featured there look much the same as the other, with a few exceptions like the silver platform Choos, aubergine Prada sandals and gold Aquazurras.

I'd like to see a footwear retrospective for Meghan and the York sisters as they always gave good shoe!

LadyEloise1 · 30/01/2022 16:28

Sweet Jesus- the height of those heels.Shock
I'd be crippled.

justasking111 · 30/01/2022 17:36

DOC taste in footwear is excellent, drooling here. Even when I've not liked the outfit the shoes make up for it.

She doesn't seem to use bags now I wonder if the bag industry lament that

Justkeeppedaling · 30/01/2022 17:37

They all look so uncomfortable.

Eaumyword · 30/01/2022 17:53

They are beautiful and I admire them for that, but the thought of them is wince making!
I personally love my collection of DM style boots these days!

Maireas · 30/01/2022 18:01

Those Aquazzura ones look particularly painful! I like the navy Prada ones and the silver sandals.
Did she wear the gold ones with the Bond premiere dress?.

KillingMeDeftly · 30/01/2022 18:15

Aha, presumably the person behind that site has done similar for Meghan's shoes. A lot more flats here and who knew that some of the boots under her longer skirts and coats were over-the-knee ones?!?

Maireas · 30/01/2022 18:55

Meghan does seem to have a bit more variety. I really like her Aquazzura tan flat mules and the Stella McCartney sandals. Those Stuart Weitzman sandals though - those heels are crazy!

OP posts:
Eaumyword · 30/01/2022 18:56

Love the Sarah Flint olive boots and Le Chameau caramel boots there!

KillingMeDeftly · 30/01/2022 19:42

Walking in those heels looks tricky enough so how Meghan managed to do this, while heavily pregnant, and get back up again is besides me!

Maireas · 30/01/2022 19:55

That is actually impressive!
(I couldn't do it, not pregnant and in flats)
Confused

That is very impressive. I would be in need of help from the Royal Hoiker-Upper team who I would assume are following closely behind. 😂
