WWW's six week (well, alright then, 2 week) 10yy thread for confessing what lovely food you've eaten and booze you've drunk

WideWebWitch · 26/12/2007 15:22

So, please post your tales of seasonal excess and gorgeous food here! I will start a new proper 10yy in the New Year. Welcome everyone.

I had duck on Christmas day and have been thoroughly enjoying

duck and cranberry sauce sandwiches
Cambozola with cranberry
dolcelatte with etc
brie with cranbry
toast with butter
Champagne

It's most enjoyable! So, confess here for our delectation and then we can back to bootcamp in January 08 for those who want to!

Happy Christmas everyone!

Yesterday's Christmas dinner:

roast fillet of beef, with shallots and mushrooms
roast potatoes
roast parsnips
sprouts with bacon
savoy cabbage with butter
yorkshire puddings
gravy

Followed by chocolate puddings which were:

double cream mixed with marscapone, into which I stirred broken up Crunchies and melted milk chocolate

All lovely because normally I eat a low carb diet!

Started drinking fizz with breakfast and carried on all day.

Thee were some lovely Hotel Chocolat chocolates in there at some point too.

bamamama · 26/12/2007 22:40

too. much. wine. For about a month now (what with holiday). Eaten too much nice stuff as well. Will be better next week. Promise!

tortoiseSHELL · 27/12/2007 09:27

Christmas Day we had

eggs on toast (from our chickens)
Turkey, roast potatoes, bacon rolls, cranberry and apple stuffing, roast parsnips, carrots, sprouts, peas, then very alcoholic christmas pudding (with lots of flaming brandy poured over it much to my children's concern(!), and rum sauce.

Following that, lots of turkey and ham sandwiches, also christmas cake with Stilton (it's a northern thing for anyone who is concerned about eating cake and cheese - you have to try it if you've never had it! We have always had cheese with cake, and was really surprised moving south that no-one did!!!!).

Also yesterday had a fab mexican feast, followed by more cake and cheese!

And lots of champagne and wine...

None. No seasonal excess at all. In fact I've lost weight.

But given the choice between being ill and eating too much I'd have chosen the latter Had a turkey sandwich yesterday and half a slice of christmas cake - first proper christmas food so far.

FooFooTheSnoo · 27/12/2007 12:55

HAve fallen off the wagon in spectacular fashion and am now being dragged down the road by its wheels.....

Red wine
Chanpagne
My own body weight in cheese
Tin of Quality Street (aided and abetted by kids)
Pringles
And this is just snacks! Also loads of rich food at mealtimes.

DP bought me a new coffee maker which he's firing up now for the first time - haven't had cafeine of any kind since OCTOBER. Am scared my head may spin round and then combust.

Off to panto later, which will nvolve pasta and pizza beforehand......

PrufrockingAroundTheXmasTree · 27/12/2007 16:44

Far too much. I'm not even going to think about it.

Can I ask that we restart properly on Monday 7th? Because I'm sure we'll all be bad on NY Eve, and I know I'll need stodge to get me through my NY day hangover, so then it's already Wednesday. And by the 7th the kids will be back at school, and we can all start anew with fridges empty of leftovers and brand spanking new resolutions

Iota · 27/12/2007 16:50

hello all

wine excesses

mince pies with brandy cream

trifle

chocolates (and still a couple of boxes as yet unopened)

huge Christmas dinner

asparagus with melted butter

dolcellata

brie and grape sandwiches

we haven't eaten the Xmas pudding yet - and that will need more brandy cream.....

we went to the gym today ( mt first time since half term), but all we did was take the kids swimming

Happy holidys everyone

Agree that Mon 7th is the day to aim for and I will be here ready and willing

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 27/12/2007 19:36

Hello everyone - glad to see everyone has been eating and drinking to excess too! Tshell, my DH eats cake and cheese and LOVES it. I dono't eat C'mas cake (about the only thing at the moment which I don't eat ) but it does loook great. Bit like the savoury / sweet in a choc hobnob.

Wine
Turkey
Sausages
Stuffing
Roasties
Lots of veg
Ham
Cheese
Chocolate

Yest

Have walked lots but not much else.

Orm, sorry you have been ill. Hope you feel better soon.

ooh, 7.30 so drinks time (to add to lunch time booze). Have a good evening everyone.

MariNativityPlay · 27/12/2007 19:54

Oh, I have sinned

Rib of beef, lovely and rare, on Christmas Day, with a nice Chiroubles and cava and smoked salmon to start with
Purple sprouting broccoli, carrots and parsnips roasted in sunflower oil
Very small portion of a profiterole dessert (one profiterole, honest guv) for pud

Beef salad and horseradish sandwiches for supper

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with pannetone and latte for brunch on Boxing Day, and then pineapple with blueberries at dd's request

Cold meat and salad, good, at MILs, for tea, with chocolate roulade, tres bad, for pudding

Bottle of sauvignon blanc for supper, eeeek

Today roast chicken with lots of veg, calorie busting slash and burn raid on the sales armed with litre of mineral water, supper has just been pasta with leeks and bacon

Have already memorised date and time of first Slimming World session at local hall in January, but not before 7th as we are having a sociable frenzy until then, like others here

Visitors have been so annoyingly abstemious (either breastfeeding, or half-marathon running ascetics, or so tottery that a drink fries their medication x 6) that we have a net wine problem, currently more than we bought in December

Hence our noble decision to have a bottle for supper last night

All these sound extremely yum I must say.

Sorry to hear you've been ill Ormirian - ds has had a hideous and ongoing chest infection which has even dented his enthusiasm for chocolate

WideWebWitch · 27/12/2007 20:26

lol at net wine problem!

today for lunch I cooked some bacon in butter then took it out and added garlic, then added left over roast potatoes, parsnips, green beans and carrots, then added some just cooked peas, chopped up an avocado and mixed all together. So it was bacon/avocado/roast pots/parsnips/peas/carrots/beans/garlic/butter combo, goodness it was LOVELY!

And sausage rolls and crisps and a veg spring roll and some quails eggs and prawns. And am drinking wine now, obv!

Happy holidays everyone

Agree, the 7th is a good date to start again IN EARNEST Until then, enjoy !

I am/have been ill over Christmas but have still managed to consume tons

girls got Hotel Chocolat stuff from a relative and it has been 'lost' into the cupboard for me me me

pantoinghousewife · 27/12/2007 20:44

The usual stuff (with mounds of veggies), made far too much cranberry sauce and red cabbage for dinner, so it's leftovers with cranberry sauce and cold red cabbage for us.
Am sat here, stuffing my gannet with turkish delight to even up the balance!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/12/2007 21:08

Hello again and Happy Christmas to all!

I've actually been quite restrained with regard to food. I've had one late bout of cheese & biscuits but not very much chocolate at all. ONE glass of mulled wine is my booze intake for the whole week.

Exercise - lots of walks with the dogs and mucking out.

I am drinking lots of water, I'm so dehydrated all the time.

I've been given tons of Estee Lauder skin care and DH put a big jar of Crabtree & Evelyn body butter in my stocking to take care of expanding bump and general itchiness.

Christmas was pretty stress-free and illness-free although DD2 has a temp of 102c tonight.

Will now read rest of the thread...

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/12/2007 21:19

All the food sounds divine.

LOL @ marinas net wine!

Ormirian - sorry you've been ill. It's particularly rubbish at Christmas time.

I forgot to mention the absolute gorgeousness that is my Christmas Cake. It weighed 7.4lbs before I marzipan & iced it. It's also liberally laced with brandy so that must have considerably pushed my booze intake up.

And I've had far too many late nights.

went for pizza at srada yesterday, which was very pleasant

then

more wine

turkey korma plus bhajiis, samosas, naan, spinach aloo (dh cooking)

chocolates

there is no hope for me until dh goes away on business again

foxinsocks · 29/12/2007 16:44

sorry to hear about dp's family batters and all the ailing ones. We have lots of friends who were sick over Christmas with either that nasty flu-like bug doing the rounds, the chesty thing or vomiting. Poor things.

Well, food wise I don't think I've done toooooooooo badly though did polish off virtually half a huge Tiramisu on Christmas Day which was so rich, my stomach is still upset from it.

That coupled with bottles and bottles and err bottles of champagne has made me feel like my body needs scooping out like an avocado from its skin.

We are back at work on the 2nd. I'm seriously considering joining a gym next to work (in the hope that I'd be more likely to go as I know once I'm home, I'd never have the energy to go out again) but we'll see as I have a long history of joining gyms and never going .

We have temporary nanny (who is divine and fabulous and just wonderful) back for this week but have nothing lined up for the week after despite having lots of applications and so far, I have TRIED to speak to dh about it but all he has said is 'oh something will come up' .

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 29/12/2007 19:41

at everyone's champagne.

Had a nice long walk in the sunshine with dog & DCs today.

Smoked salmon & soft cheese sandwich for lunch and then had the locals round for tea at 4pm which involved my brandy-soaked Christmas cake. And er, more sandwiches. Too much coffee and not enough water. And we've been given some chocolates so I will eat those later no doubt!

The Crabtree & Evelyn body butter is super stuff if anybody was thinking of trying it.

Endless late nights at the moment but on the plus side, I am staying in bed until 9am in the morning! Tis lovely!

Hello all, Happy New Year!

I was rubbish yesterday. Got up at 11am, had 2 piddly pieces of toast, cleaned and tidied house and went shopping, to return at 4pm having eaten nothing else and famished. As a consequence at

a pork pie (don't normally buy, was v reduced)
a packet of Wotsits
several slices of chorizo
JUST while I unpacked the shopping
and then had
roast beef
yorkshire puddings x3
roast potatoes/parsnips
peas
green beans
carrots
broccoli
and then Champagne and a alate night but in our new goosedown duvet and lovely bedding, it was bliss!

I really really want to walk on a beach today but will have to see whether I can persuade dh as it's 2.5 hours to the nearest one.
