So, please post your tales of seasonal excess and gorgeous food here! I will start a new proper 10yy in the New Year. Welcome everyone.

I had duck on Christmas day and have been thoroughly enjoying

duck and cranberry sauce sandwiches
Cambozola with cranberry
dolcelatte with etc
brie with cranbry
toast with butter
Champagne

It's most enjoyable! So, confess here for our delectation and then we can back to bootcamp in January 08 for those who want to!

Happy Christmas everyone!

Puddle here, with new name.

I have been TERRIBLE. Late nights, and bab, bad food. Partly because, although I am back at work, we still have festive social suff going on. I have more or less written this week off (a birthday and big sunday lunch with friends at the weekend). Am going to be struct with self for rest of Jan.

On the happiness front - took the kids to see Cinderella at the Old Vic last night which was fabulous (and quite rude although a lot of it went over their heads). DH and I laughed a lot and the kids adored it all (dd especisally pleased that Dandini and Buttons also get together at the end 'it's nice Buttons has someone to love isn't it Mummy")

I am now being good, good, good and will be back with you all next week on a regular basis.

On New Years Day I realised that I am exactly 3 stone less than I was a year ago and that is the result of this thread (thank you all ). (I had gained 1/2 stone in nov-dec and I felt dreadful). Now I am back to it and am feeling and looking fab and if this time next year I can say I've lost another 3 stone I will be thrilled.

Will catch up with whats going on with everyone in the days to come.

Happy New Year everyone

It's hard when you work in the evenings to get anything else done anniemac.

I desperately need to do some exercise - have never felt so unfit as I do but have no idea how to fit it in, other than getting up at 6.00.

And a Happy New Year to you Winnie. You've had such a successful bootcamp year, here's to another!

everyone else... I agree with the exercise - much easier in the mornings. When I run I have to do it straight after I've dropped DD2 at pre-school or I don't have time. Running in the evening, when I could persuade myself to do it, was always harder because I was tired and had just eaten dinner - as I discovered during the summer holiday.

For those that have to get up super-early to exercise before work, I'd limit yourselves to 2 or 3 weekdays and 1 weekend. And only do Mondays if you like masochism!

Foo - you can enjoy the next couple of days. Bootcamp proper doesn't start until Monday 7th.

I have done nothing at all today. DS1 is ill and whimpering and DH is in town so no chance of walking today. Poor dog is really sulking!

At least I didn't eat all day, in fact not much appetite. Cheese scone, minestrone soup, pitta bread, 2 apples, handful of cherries and a ham & coleslaw sandwich because I didn't want the pasta that I'd made for DCs.

Lots of water. But another late night. (I'm also still on holiday time).

WideWebWitch · 05/01/2008 12:50

LATE night last night, watching movies and drinking Champagne and eating Fru lemon cheesecake, was bliss. And lie in this morning ended with dh bringing me a bacon sandwich and coffee in bed. Bliss!

So, we are SERIOUS from Monday, start getting your brains into gear everyone

Feel terrible today. Very late night last night as it was dh's birthday, so we weet out and drank far too much. And we'd both had sessions with Janice the personal trainer beforehand, and had something of an "session" when we got home so every part of me aches and aches

I will be finishing the last of the open/chilled wine tonight, and then locking the cellar until Valentines. And we are eating the last nice fattening food today, and will be enjoying super healthy fare from Monday.

Welcoem back Winnie. 3 stone is a huge achievement. You should be very proud at not just the weight loss but at everything else you've done over the alst year.

PrufrockingAroundTheXmasTree · 05/01/2008 13:03

Re the exercise. I either do as duch does, and get eveything done first thing - 5 sun salutations on waking, drop off kids, walk/jog with dogs ten back home and into gym for 30 minutes. (which usually leaves me with just enough time to have a shower, unload dishwasher and hang out washing before picking up ds)

If I have to do it in the evening, I feed and bath kids, put them to bed and get straight into gym (but I know I'm v. lucky to have one at home). I also plan to have a dinner that can be cooking in the oven whilst I'm eercising, so I can finish and eat with v. little effort. And I'm usually quite scummy and eat before I shower, so I can then potter around doing the necessary tasks after I've eaten, then go upstairs, have a bath and go straight to bed to read/watch TV

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 05/01/2008 17:39

Applauds Pru's double exercise session!

I'm looking forward to power walking again next week but DD2 who is due back at pre-sch on Monday, can't go because they haven't finished the maintenance work. Grrr!

I had a longish walk with dog today but he was slow and sniffy so I didn't get much speed up.

I've eaten muesli, toast & marmite, oxtail soup & french bread, 4 Roses chocolates and will shortly eat game pie, fat chips & veg. Lots of water today.

DH slathered my back in cocoa butter last night and gave me a massage. And I had a face pack during last nights power cut. So feeling quite pampered!

bamamama · 05/01/2008 23:56

Hello winnie - 3 stone is amazing, you should be rightly proud of yourself.

DoNB - game pie and fat chips sounds lovely. Nearest I'm going to get here is a roo burger and so far I've managed to resist that particular tempation.

Spent most of yesterday promising myself that despite it being Saturday we would have a dry night. Then spent most of Saturday evening waiting for DH to get back from his bike ride with a bottle of wine. So no early night either. However did walk 18,000 steps and had an hours bike ride myself so not all bad.
Off for a big long walk in the heat this afternoon and then bootcamping proper from tomorrow.
Enjoy your last day of festive hedonisim ladies!

Oh god, Sobernow, another thing to think about. Dh said last night, fk me, I'm so not looking forward to you going through this menopause business

I have eaten like a PIG today

M&S breakfast baguette, which had bacon sausage and egg. And then an M&S beef and horseradish sandwich and some gorgeous mouli wraps
not enough water
stayed up drinking cava with dh til 1am
hence hangover food this mornng

But have recovered because I have just slept through dd watching Shrek twice on the projector on our bedroom wall, REsult!

I will start a new thread later today for when bootcamp proper starts for real tomorrow.

I am here and ready to get nasty with the Omron starting Tuesday (Monday am still off with the dcs, they return to school a day later than the rest of the universe it seems )
Happy New Year bootcampers old and new
I had an evil hangover on New Year's Day, that'll teach me to spend Hogmanay in Edinburgh chugging Pomerol and then champagne
I don't even want dh and the dcs to so much as suspect the existence of the perimenopause in case they all leave home in anticipation. Like www, I am quite voluble and volatile enough as it is without shrivelling ovaries and labia (hmm, but then there is that weight loss)
Very good to see you back posting winnie.
Really hope 2008 is a good year for us all, with diminishing waistlines and soaring happiness quotients
Am reading Affluenza by Oliver James at the moment, finding it a good antidote to sulking about our skip-like family home and perennial shortage of cash. Highly recommended
