How many coats do you have?

I wfh and never have to look dressed up. I have a technical waterproof for (rare) hikes, a long black coat, a proper Scandinavian winter coat, a trench type thing, a mid weight puffer and in the sales I've just convinced myself I needed to get three more ( 2 mid season, one fairly warm). I don't 'need' them, they will add variety to my wardrobe but clearly are not necessary. But I love coats!! I'm sure I'd have more if I hadn't put on weight 3 years ago and had to get rid of most of mine and start again. It's becoming a bit embarrassing to explain to my OH what the newest package is, and I should probably save my money for other things.

Am I going overboard? How many coats do you have?

Also about 20!!

nancy75 · 31/12/2021 19:17

Also about 20 (more like 25 but I’m ashamed to say it)
I do love a nice coat!

Isabelle70 · 31/12/2021 19:21

I seem to have been on a coat buying spree recently... I now have:
North Face black waterproof jacket for wearing to work
Primark puffa x 3
Boden wool long coat
Mountain Warehouse down and waterproof long coat x2 (the newest one arrived today!)
Cream puffa jacket
Cream faux fur bomber jacket - impulse buy and very warm!
Denim jacket x 3

I would like another smart wool coat in a black or very dark grey

gunnersgold · 31/12/2021 19:50

About 945 🤣🤣

SurfWaves · 31/12/2021 19:54
  1. Long parka jacket for everyday
  2. Small lined walking coat and for beach
  3. Biker jacket
  4. Waterproofs ( which have a jacket)
WaitinginVain · 31/12/2021 20:04

I never used to buy coats but now have a lot.
I love a nice coat but they do take up a lot of space and it's becoming a problem Blush.

onedayoranother · 31/12/2021 20:56

None. I have a cape and a couple knitted poncho type things with arms. It never gets cold enough in England to warrant a proper coat (and I'm out daily with the dogs at 7.30am).

Comedycook · 31/12/2021 20:57

4

Terminallysleepdeprived · 31/12/2021 21:01

I have 3

1 Peter storm puffy jacket to walk the dog in

1 navy next smart "wool overcoat" style for work/smart occasions

1 leather effect Biker style jacket for smart casual trips out

Gonnagetgoing · 31/12/2021 21:01

Without counting probably 5. But all different

Lacedwithgrace · 31/12/2021 21:09

Too many. Black trench, camel trench, black duster, black vintage wool, orange raincoat, burgundy reefer, black double breasted, probably a few more and far too many jackets.

Kitkat151 · 31/12/2021 21:10

A teddy bear coat ( 18 months old)
A Uniqlo puffer ( 4th winter)
Uniqlo body warmer ( 4th winter)
Levi Denim jacket ( 10 years old)
French connection blazer ( about 15 years old....still looking good though)
North face waterproof ( 5 years old)
Joules kagoul ( 3 years old)
Barbour beige Trench coat ( 5 years old)
Navy work coat ....part of uniform ( NHS community Nurse)

I currently have my eye on a Hobbs wool coat in the sales....was undecided but after reading this thread am now going to order

Allthesefolks · 31/12/2021 21:14

Ah this makes me feel better about spending my Christmas vouchers on a Hush leopard puffer coat that I don’t need yesterday!

  1. Hush leopard puffer jacket
  2. Gap oversized camel wool coat
  3. Sea salt Janelle
  4. Joules Raincoat
  5. Khaki thin cotton festival type coat
  6. Vintage fake fur coat
  7. Leopard denim jacket
  8. Navy 60s style belted thin coat with 3/4 bell sleeves
  9. Brown kind of tweedy oversized jacket
10. Green tweed cropped swing jacket 11. Multiple blazers….
LimpLettice · 31/12/2021 21:27

Not enough!

Peter Storm Parka
Superdry biker
Boden silver leather jacket
PAC a Mac thingy
Massive faux fur black overcoat stashed under the bed
Italian leather bomber

A smarter parka, and a khaki faux fur are on my list.

GalacticGoddess · 31/12/2021 21:33

Too many.

Oversized colour block Borg
Teddy coat in brown
Chunky parka
Thin parka
Short puffer coat
Smart tan coat
Grey suede aviator
Black leather
Denim jacket
Outdoor Raincoat
Various kimono style jackets

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 31/12/2021 21:51

Errrrrr many many coats......

But I do have outdoor hobbies, and I tend not to get rid unless absolutely knackered and useless.

Also how are we defining coat, are we including things like leather jackets, and denim jackets or just proper winter coats? What about gilets?

ponypinkie · 31/12/2021 21:56

Love coats. I've got a black max mara smart wool coat, navy trench, stutterheim rainmac, Uniqlo windbreaker, long olive wool coat, Uniqlo puffer. Wear them all!

MadeinSW3 · 31/12/2021 21:57

I am obsessed, about 30 coats including puffa, formal long, pink, leather, faux fur, short teddy, long teddy, green parka, short navy parka….

Then I have bought 6 gillets this year… long/short/ dark & light Shock

My excuse is we live in England ….

LubaLuca · 31/12/2021 22:00

I think about 15. They're all useful, though some of them I don't wear often.

anyoldname76 · 31/12/2021 22:04

4, 1 winter coat for everyday wear, a smart winter coat, a summer jacket and a leather jacket. I haven't got much storage so if I buy a new coat I donate the one it replaces to a charity shop

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 31/12/2021 22:09

One summer jacket and one winter jacket both Berghaus.

madamceladon · 31/12/2021 22:10

Black cashmere long aquascutum
Forest green long wool aquascutum
Blue wool swing coat aquascutum
Bright Red st Michael's mac
(All second hand)

New: Navy trench from community clothing
Charcoal grey herringbone tweed coat from Walker slater (most expensive of the bunch a birthday gift)

So that's six coats

Plus maybe eight blazers in different thicknesses and colours to wear as coats in spring

I love them all. I don't need anymore but I'd look for some brighter or paler colours like pale blue burgundy or camel or cream to add variety if I was looking

ShottaSheriff · 31/12/2021 22:12

I don’t feel like I have enough and I have:

  • Uniqlo long puffer
  • Scandi khaki parker purchased in Copenhagen for snow
  • mamalia baby wearing waterproof
  • protected species commuter coat
  • jigsaw wool coat
  • all saints monument coat
  • 2 x leather jackets (hush and all saints)
  • festival mac with cloud print
  • Levi’s denim jacket
  • running jacket
  • khaki jacket
  • cheap turquoise waterproof (decathlon)
  • pure collection smart coat
  • couple of old festival/gardening/dog walking coats.
  • cream Zara trench
  • soft khaki trench (Jack Wills)

I would ideally like a smart all weather coat for walking and a new long wool coat too. Having a smart coat and handbag make me feel happy and put together.

SalveVagina · 31/12/2021 22:13

Um.

4 x pure cashmere long coats in different colours (black, grey, navy, pink)

6 x mid-length single-breasted coats in different tweedy colours

1 x long Really Wild single-breasted coat (windowpane tweedy type)

2 x mid length single-breasted cashmere coats (navy and grey)

1 x ancient Barbour

1 x tweedy shooting coat

I don't have any anorak type or puffer (puffa?) things. All my coats are single breasted as I'm tiny so look like a dick in double-breasted coats.

LubaLuca · 31/12/2021 22:16

@ILoveAllRainbowsx

One summer jacket and one winter jacket both Berghaus.
That is definitely minimal. Do you never go anywhere that demands something dressier?
