Toast sale live at JL - only 30 per cent off!

Hmmm…..only 30% off on John Lewis. The jumper I am after is still over £100. Does anyone know if they will price match an item bought in the sale if it is further reduced later on?

Thanks for the JL alert. I bought the black cropped jeans (which are the Ashley jeans but not named as such on JL) and the Oxford white shirt having just watched a Japanese film where the main character beautifully and stylishly wore a white shirt. I bought them both in a 10 and a 12: fed up of gambling on Toast sizing. I already have the Ashleys in denim and in green in a 12 but you never know....

I price matched the Lys ( to Toast) and also bought the cream boyfriend tee from JL .. nothing else I want

Yes, you can price match within 28 days; but I’m not sure you can do it more than once?

Thanks @SmaugMum. I might order the sweater I’m after, and price match if it is further reduced. It’s the washed wool sweater in navy. I already have the yellow and love it, and the navy would be really useful.

The toast sale seems fully open now for those who were waiting.

Has anyone got this dress? Seems in true TOAST style it is very oversized.

@mizu I think the reviews say something about the sleeves and it being big.

@ScottishMouse isn’t that coat so disappointing, I tried it last year and the sleeves were impossible. I thought I had ordered a size too small but interested to hear even when an oversized fit it still is the same for the sleeves.

I wanted the black padded coat to be 50% off in John Lewis but it was still nearly £250 and I couldn’t justify it given the lack of opportunities to wear coats at the moment.
Revisited JL then to find the Hal jacket reduced so I have bought it, it was briefly reduced last sale for about 10 seconds 😕 and then put up again. It has been on my wish list for a while.

@Countmeout, yes, it is such a shame because otherwise that coat is perfect.

If it’s any consolation, I tried the padded coat on and it was ridiculously huge. I am a Toast 10/12, and I could have fit my whole family into the XS with me. So maybe it wasn’t meant to be for you anyway. I understand oversized, but I really don’t get the so oversized that the smallest size is too big for half the population thing.

I heard back from JL on price match already..
They have price matched to their price not Toasts as they say that it has to be in stock still at competitors site ( that wasn't previously) oh well , id have got my Lys shirt 2.50 cheaper at Toast.. but hopefully ill be able to match it again if JL reduce further ...

So problem is that if its 8n stock when you price match and not when they look , then its no go...That is a change to how it was...

Ooh, that's a shame ScottishMouse, I have a long wait for mine so I'm going to pretend I have unique and bizarrely shaped shoulders just right for this weird coat, until reality hits Wednesday.

I’ve done a price match on the JL sweater and I’ve also ordered the marzipan colour from Toast (which, amazingly, is cheaper than JL). I’m going to decide which shade I like best and which may be reduced further.

@dudsville, you never know, the coat might work on you. As I said the other day, I saw someone wearing it recently and she looked great (although I obviously wasn’t looking super close at the sleeves!). Fingers crossed for you.

Well the JL sale didn’t pan out at all like I expected it to. I’ve been stalking the blue slubby dress because it looks like the kind of thing I’ll live it next summer, only to find it was cheaper from Toast, so I ordered that, plus the field cotton pyjama trousers. That’s the last thing I’m buying (£300 spent at Toast so far this sale 😬), unless the navy poplin dress is reduced. Can’t wait for everyone’s parcels to start arriving and the verdicts to come in!

JL will usually discount further though, but it may be a couple of weeks...

So here's what they said about my request ....
Having carefully checked your request, I can confirm that Toast currently do not have stock of shirt size 12 on their website to purchase. In line with our policy, our competitor must have the product in stock and available to purchase. For a price match to be successful, we consider that the product is the same make, model, size and colour.
This is a change of policy because they used to agree to price match if the item was offered on sale elsewhere.. it didn't necessarily have to be actually in stock in the particular size.. Since Toast sale stuff sells out really quickly.. it means that its now going to be harder to price match with JL... Tbh its always been such a generous policy,that I have wondered how they could sustain it, and I would rather see them survive, and not go the way if lots of other high street retailers..
Anyway £2.50.. I can live with paying that, but next time, I would go with Toast in the pre-sale

Im just hoping bow that I can get my items or money back with regard to the messed up order with Toast,
