I’m wearing the golden syrup dress too, with mid brown knee high boots , a cream scarf and my ancient (20 plus years ) Max Mara camel coat .
I sized down in the dress , it’s definitely on the big side .

TempleofZoom · 14/01/2022 15:37

TempleofZoomLove that name - golden syrup dress.
What size did you buy? I am tempted by the black one. Did you size down and if you did, by how many sizes?

I got the Brown Slate ( soft black) and the Golden Syrup in a size 10.
Im a size 12 and the 10 is plenty roomy.

@Gonegrey31
Its so versatile, Im really pleased I got both colours.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2022 15:54

I usually buy a 12 [Sometimes a 10 in toast dresses] I don't want it huge. Would an 8 be ok?
I'm a 12-14 in real life.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2022 15:54

In real life lol... I mean in other brands.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2022 15:55

Im not sure the golden syrup would suit me but I love the colour. I have sallow skin and silver hair.

I think if you are a 12/14 then you would be ok with a 10, 8 might be a bit narrow across the shoulders/ bust. Im a 12 and the 10 fits nicely, loose but not huge.
neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2022 16:15

Thank you :)

Gonegrey31 · 14/01/2022 16:22

I’m normally an 8 in Toast dresses or blouses but I bought the size 6 in this particular dress . I’m flat chested though after surgery so it just needs to fit my shoulders.

Countmeout · 14/01/2022 16:25

Blouse looks great @neveradullmoment99
Does the pinafore go over the head @billydilly ? I can see how it might get in a muddle then, tried something similar once and got stuck,. Is the orange as orange as it looks as sometimes the colours online end up a bit disappointing in real life. Agree it’s far too expensive for cupro/viscose. Although tbf it hangs nicely like the gathered hem skirt, I imagine in cotton it’d be far too bulky.
Anyone watch the Home video today? They showed some of the casual clothing as well, I think the jumper one of the presenters is wearing is the colour I wanted the green Rae jumper to be but wasn’t.

billydilly · 14/01/2022 16:46

It's the most beautiful orange I've ever seen! The pic actually doesn't do it justice, it's got a real depth to it, slight shimmer too, the fabric is lovely. You put the thing over your head and, I think, tie the thick ribbons around your front and the skinny ones at the back. Any mistake and your arse is on display...

Saurus72 · 14/01/2022 16:54

@billydilly that is high stakes and high risk 😊

billydilly · 14/01/2022 17:04

I know! Thank god it wasn't a no,-clean-knickers-sod-it-commando-day 😱😱😱😱

Countmeout · 14/01/2022 17:06

🤣🤣🤣🤣 @billydilly

dudsville · 14/01/2022 19:35

@neveradullmoment99, that's a great example of something that works! I wonder if it's just the neck though. I think it's hair too. Mine's medium long, which is often up in a bun, lending my appearance more of an 1840s vibe if I'm not careful, whereas yours is a trendier cut. I've been considering cutting my hair fur this very reason.

I'm embarrassed to say I caved and bought the cotton wide leg trousers in slate and moss, and the soft cotton tees in blue and pomegranate. It's like an addiction.

Yorkshirelass04 · 14/01/2022 20:13

I had a toast moment earlier and bought the new chambray shirt with tie neck

applecatchers36 · 14/01/2022 20:43

Ah that shirt looks great Yorkshire lass be great to see a pic in real life

Yorkshirelass04 · 14/01/2022 21:07

I will happily oblige when it's here :)

ScottishMouse · 14/01/2022 21:08

That shirt is on my wish list @Yorkshirelass04. A review would be great when you get it.

Yorkshirelass04 · 14/01/2022 21:45

I will add I am not happy about spending £7 on next day delivery and then find out it's Monday!

If you order on a Thursday for next day delivery it should come on Saturday surely.

applecatchers36 · 14/01/2022 21:53

Yorkshirelass that's well cheeky would not be happy about that 😏

I noticed this. I cant stand dhl as they dont give you a time when they come either. I would not pay £7 for it to be delivered on Tuesday. I don't even think it would be delivered on Monday.

@dudsville thanks for the comment about the blouse.
I actually have shoulder length hair but like you, its pinned up. I don't think this blouse would look at all nice with my hair down tbh.
I agree, its a lot to do with hair too.

ScottishMouse · 15/01/2022 07:14

Does anyone have the Wool Cotton Herringbone Trousers? I have some questions…
Are they at all itchy? I can’t bear anything itchy on my legs, so normally stay away from wool trousers, but I’m tempted by these.
Have you tried washing in the machine on a wool wash? I refuse to buy anything that needs to be dry cleaned, but often things that say they do don’t really. But it’s a risk.

ScottishMouse · 15/01/2022 11:14

I can’t remember who was also interested in the new shirt with a stripe we can’t see - @faustina, was it you? Anyhow, I tried it on this morning, as I was passing my Toast shop again and saw through the window that they had more stock.
Photos here to show the shape and the stripe (the colour of the closeup is not true, it is more like the shade in the photo of it on me)! The colour is stronger in real life I feel. It says regular fit, which would have made me got for a 10 or 12 if I was ordering online, but even over a couple of layers, the 8 was plenty big.
Fabric is quite weighty, I would say not a shirt to layer under sweaters, but one to wear alone or over things as a light jacket.
I’m mulling it over as the colour is not quite what I wanted.
They also had it in a lovely blue, but I am not looking for a blue shirt.

ScottishMouse · 15/01/2022 11:17

I also tried the new chambray shirt. It is beautiful but the shape is not for me. The sleeves are wide, which I find tricky for layering. The armholes are also wide, attaching quite low on the body, and the body is quite a-line. All this together with the fact that I am busty meant it did not sit well on me.
Disappointing, as the neck tie is so perfect.

I think I might need to leave their thread.

Just placed another order of some bits still available in the sale.
