@faustina

I don't really understand why it's called seersucker because in my mind seersucker is a bobbly cotton fabric - very light - and that looks kind of satiny. It's a beautiful colour!
I don't get it either!
ToastCosILoveIt · 10/01/2022 21:55

I retried on the seersucker dress and it looks dreadful on me so it is going back. I think the colour is all wrong for me and the style is loose yet shows bumps, not good. The reviews were very mixed too. I think it is very much a marmite item.

@neveradullmoment99, I think you could dress it down but it looked so wrong on me in so many ways that I had barely put it on when I took it off again and folded it up and put it back in the bag.

I love the colour but lumps and bumps - well I have too many of these to risk it. Pity as the colour is just beautiful.
It's dry clean too so that is very off putting.

neveradullmoment99 · 10/01/2022 22:15

Thank you for your review!

dudsville · 11/01/2022 07:22

@Countmeout

I don’t think they were ever lined *@dudsville*. I bought one early in the season. I think the description was incorrect.
I may have misread, but some of the earlier comments on their page are of people praising the presence of the lining. What did you think of the unlined version?
Countmeout · 11/01/2022 09:00

It was far better for me unlined @dudsville as I think lining would have made it far too bulky especially round the waist and I would imagine it might catch round legs. I doubt they made 2 versions and people are talking rubbish 🤭. Maybe someone will come along to correct that.
I love the colour, I bought the green, the pockets are fantastic. I did size down to avoid bulk around the hips. An elastic waist is very forgiving.

TempleofZoom · 11/01/2022 10:56

@ilovecherries

Well, my parcel was a bit disappointing. Both cord dresses terribly creased which isn’t a great way to show cord anyway.

The golden syrup dress - I somehow hadn’t appreciated the poufiness of the sleeves and like a lot of Toast dresses I just feel it would have benefitted from another 3cms of length. At 5’7 I’m not that tall! So it’s hanging in the shower till I see how I feel tomorrow.

Green cord yoke dress - again, really creased and possibly a tad too short. It does look nice open as a duster over a shirt and twill Alix trousers but I do have other dresses that could fulfil that role. Waiting to see what I feel when the creases drop out a bit.

Black crinkle dress - even in the smaller size, not doing anything for me and neck isn’t sitting well. Toast’s ‘boatish’ necks often don’t sit properly on me.

Micro gingham dress - jury’s out. It’s austere but I can see me sitting outside our van wearing it in the summer.

Ruffle raised stripe shirt - very thin, I have the blue one already and have worn it a lot but the white def feels more summary and I’m not sure if I’d like that frill in the summer.

So, nothing that leapt out of the bag shouting ‘I’m for youoooo’

Interesting what you say about the golden syrup dress. I initially thought the brown slate version was too short , however Im a bit taller than you and as soon as I tried it on with boots it worked. As I only ever wear boots with dresses in the winter ( cold feet) Im pondering ordering the golden syrup as well. Its nice to have a shorter length of dress, just hits the top of my boots. The anti toast thread is fairly ridiculous now. Lovely to see new faces here. Just a little bit excited for new styles for summer.
faustina · 11/01/2022 11:18

The anti toast thread, last time I looked, was full of recommendations for Cos, and I ended up buying three pairs of trousers in the sale on the strength of it. I don't think that was the Op's initial intention Grin

AmethystMoonShine · 11/01/2022 11:26

That made me laugh so much @faustina Grin

Stoic123 · 11/01/2022 11:45

@faustina- excellent! I've been a bit of a Cos fan this season- have bought a couple of coats (the full length belted ones) and 2 cashmere jumpers.

They often complement Toast stuff well.

ScottishMouse · 11/01/2022 12:18

Wearing my new jerkin and green silk scarf today. With a dark green easy sweater from a few years ago and a pair of non-Toast(!) navy culottes.
Roll on spring when I don’t have to cover it all up with a big coat when I leave the house!

ilovecherries · 11/01/2022 12:26

I really like fe CoS clothes, and I think (potentially delude myself 🤣) that they really suit me.

ilovecherries · 11/01/2022 12:29

I need to have a big try-on session today and decide what I’m keeping. Just wish everyone else could sod off back to their offices really. I’ve worked at home for a long time so I’m finding it really tough to be tripping over adults who hog the WiFi, have opinions on everything and leave the kitchen in a mess every 10 mins.

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2022 12:36

Im still away in the van and now have four Toast things waiting in the shed at home for me...
Wearing the Alpaca lace jumper in pumpkin from last year today . Along with long vest and (probably considered terribly unstylish by MN,-but warm, practical and I think suit my shape -) M&S cord jeggings and boots

faustina · 11/01/2022 14:08

I wore my green scarf yesterday @ScottishMouse - it's just the nicest thing, especially in this horrible drab weather

I have always wanted to like Cos, and often went into the shop in Regent Street but it almost never had my size, and was small and very crowded, and there was always a queue for the very small changing rooms - anyway, someone on the thread linked to some beautiful looking cord dresses - quite similar to the Toast ones - and then I found a really nice selection of interesting trousers WITHOUT ANY POLYESTER IN THEM! I ordered a corduroy pair and then two cotton pairs:

- cords
Grr - can't seem to post the others

faustina · 11/01/2022 14:09

see if this works..

Ah, that's nice, I'm looking forward to seeing them (I still haven't had a delivery notice from JL). I can't help having bulk around my hips so I tend to ignore that aspect anyway but glad to hear that's the case with these skirts!
ilovecherries · 11/01/2022 19:06

Well, have had a cheap round. Sent back both cord dresses, the chambray dress and the crinkle dress. Also sent back the Aran cardi and the Oxford shirt from JL. The ruffle collar shirt and the tie front pyjama shirt are staying for a couple more days while I think about them but may well go back. The micro check dress I’m keeping.

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/01/2022 22:41

Is that new @ToastCosILoveIt ??

neveradullmoment99 · 11/01/2022 22:58

Oh that is lovely. Love the whole look, bag as well!

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/01/2022 23:00

Yes, it is new, @AFingerofFudge a lovely look @neveradullmoment99 (and a new model). There is a very nice new patterned shirt on there too and a couple of other things.

Like the whole outfit @ToastCosILoveIt.... except maybe the bloomin' sandals with socks again.

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/01/2022 23:46

@Stoic123, see, I even like the socks and sandals combo, although it isn't a look I emulate.
