I wore my fabulous Marzipan yoke jumper today....I looked FAB..( I know because I went to the Grayson Perry Art Club exhibition here in Bristol and my jumper was complimented on by two stylish women ( Am 64 and certainly haven't given up trying to look attractive as Mean Girl suggested.. My DH doesn't seem to mind my Toast look anyway Wink)

Laska2Meryls · 09/01/2022 17:36

Bideshi do stay with us even if you do send the dress back.. its a lovely corner of MN

applecatchers36 · 09/01/2022 17:43

Ah nice development my favourite purchase(s) of 2021 are probably the pear cashmere jumper so light weight/warm and goes with most things have worn it non stop in AW. The forest green high waisted cords I love the unusual shape just a bit different, and have worn every week at work schedule nice I got them. Finally will add in the print floral silk/ cotton PJ shirt that was a final sale, late in the day purchase, but really beautiful and again think they will go with everything from jeans, my various gabi's, to the new cords etc..

We went to the Grayson Perry Art Club exhibition in Manchester (it’s original home) three times; it is fab! I actually took my DD1(14) two days after my lovely dad (her only grandfather) died back in the summer and we were both shell shocked. We laughed and cried so much at the exhibition. It was a genuinely cathartic, moving and uplifting experience that perfectly summed up the weirdness of the pandemic and lockdowns.

I like this favourite purchase of 2021 theme.
I have two - the spiced orange cotton shirt dress, and the light grey alpaca cardigan with the cable down the sleeve. They are both totally perfect and I will wear them for years. The orange dress needs an outing, it has been hiding in my wardrobe since early autumn, but it might cheer up these dreary January days.

Stoic123 · 09/01/2022 18:09

Ooh - positive stuff!

My favourite Toast purchase of 2021 is the Crinkled Cotton Check Dress (blue) - so easy to just pop on and go.

An honourable mention to the Cara Guthrie Soap Dish which just gives me joy every time I look at it.

Saurus72 · 09/01/2022 18:09

@Bideshi Right. Right. I’ve had a few glasses of champagne because it’s my OH’s 60th bday today and despite the odds of impending lockdowns, restaurants in crisis, his just starting a new diabetic drug and being really I’ll for days until (literally) this morning, we’ve made it to the hotel/restaurant where we’re staying. But anyhoo I digress.

I’ve been lucky enough to have some brilliant female friends in my life and they are strong, funny, clever, and build other women up. I’ve never wanted to be friends with people who aren’t like that, so why are you taking notice of people - strangers - online who do that? I read a few pages of that thread and I found it laughable.

My biggest nightmare would be having to buy clothes from Next for the rest of my life. Would I dream of starting a thread slagging off people who do that? Would I F.

Come join our thread which is really full of people who know what they like, don’t bitch about other people, are supportive, encouraging, creative and intelligent. Because why would you want to go anywhere else?!?

Stoic123 · 09/01/2022 18:18

Also bought in 2021 but I've not had chance to wear yet (as winter sale buys) are the Spiced Orange and Mila Meadow dresses mentioned above.

They and the Palm Print Poplin dress (another sale buy) are the 3 items I am most looking forward to wearing this Spring..

Stoic123 · 09/01/2022 18:19

@Saurus72- well said!

Saurus72 · 09/01/2022 18:20

Also, all I’ve bought away with me are Toast dresses and I’m not regretting it!

My favourite Toast purchase was my first. A navy cotton dress with ikat print which can be worn frontwards or backwards. Does that make sense? It was a previous season dress at the Llandeilo outlet. Anyway I wore it a lot and it feels very put together.

SmaugMum · 09/01/2022 18:33

@Saurus72, twit-a-woo! You look amazing in both photos/outfits. Nice bags, too! Happy special birthday, Mr Saurus. Enjoy your weekend break. Well done for keeping up your Toast posting duties!

SmaugMum · 09/01/2022 18:34

@Saurus72

ToastCosILoveIt · 09/01/2022 18:38

Joining in on the championing of the favourites, I have three. The first is the Tala Floral Poplin dress in either pesto or ocean blue. I bought both colourways, wore them constantly when the sun was very hot (admitedly not as often as I would have liked) and was complemented on at least two occassions by strangers in the street.

I also love the Zadie Bloom Print Dress. It is a very flattering cut and beautiful hues of green.

Finally, I love the Micro Gingham Cotton Jumpsuit. Again it is one that has drawn a lot of complements and is easy and flattering to wear. I hope that Toast produce another jumpsuit with a similar cut for the spring.

Looking great, saurus!

My living room currently stinks of wet goat/llama/alpaca. I took the dog out for a walk and as it was relatively mild after a horrible day, just put a gilet on over my alpaca jumper. Mist came down a bit so there was moisture clinging to it and after a few minutes in the warmth I’ve stunk the whole house out.

Gonegrey31 · 09/01/2022 19:08

My favourite Toast purchase from last year was the Alpaca Lace stitch sweater, I’ve worn it so much and it has kept its shape and is so snuggly.
A close second was the organic cotton Hemp neat jacket in chambray blue, with matching cropped trousers. An outfit to dress up or down.

I buy my clothes for me, not to impress or convey any sort of style. I’ve always loved my clothes and have worn selected Toast items for 20 plus years . My all time favourite is a sapphire
blue velvet sweeping full length gown, it still fits and went to Garsington opera this year. I’ll never part with it.

Don’t listen to anyone mocking us for our loyalty to Toast, such opinions are irrelevant. Let’s just enjoy this particular supportive and generous community.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/01/2022 19:16

You look fab @Saurus72 and I’m loving your Chloe bag…. I’ve lusted over that style for quite some time.
I’m struggling to think of a favourite Toast purchase… so many I love. My new green Aran cardigan is a possibility, although I think my two top purchases have to be my wool alpaca yoke charcoal/ ecru jumper & coat. They are ludicrously warm, and I feel so cosy and just great in them. Both sale purchases on some of the hottest days in the summer Grin, I can recall trying them on for size was not enjoyable!

ScottishMouse · 09/01/2022 19:21

Looking fab @Saurus72! I particularly love the second one.

I love that jumpsuit @ToastCosILoveIt. I tried it a number of times hoping I could get it to work, but alas it is not for my body shape. I have since seen two people wearing it and looking fabulous.

ScottishMouse · 09/01/2022 19:22

Also love that alpaca yoke jumper and cardigan/coat @AmethystMoonShine. I’ve missed out on the cardigan in the last couple of sales.

NoCureForLove · 09/01/2022 19:35

Enjoying this outbreak of positivity..
I'm struggling to name a favourite / favourites.
I think I have to say for me it's more about materials / prints if that makes sense? So - denim dresses and jeans (I have an embarrassing number going back years) - corduroy in any shape or form and also patterned cotton shirts.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/01/2022 19:45

Hopefully one will pop up for you @ScottishMouse, I think I saw a couple in this recent sale. Not sure what sizes though.

ScottishMouse · 09/01/2022 19:50

I am keeping an eye @AmethystMoonShine. It did pop up last week, but was sold out in all sizes before I even got to check which sizes they had!

faustina · 09/01/2022 19:51

@Saurus72 - many happy returns to your DH and those dresses (and bags) look perfect!

@ilovecherries - about the wet alpaca smell - I had an afghan coat when I was about 14 and the smell when it got caught in the rain was something else. I have never come across anything quite as horrible since!

MmeD · 09/01/2022 19:55

My favourite Toast purchase is a long semi fitted dark grey wool dress with a ballerina neckline from about five years back. It’s stark and simple and I can be invisible, severe or dressy in it, depending on hair and accessories or lack thereof and is good for work (before WFH), after work, Mass and visits with my favourite aunt who is very old and still strict and likes to see me looking proper.

My second favourite Toast purchase are my dark blue denim dungarees. They shouldn’t work on me, I’m not that tall, but they do. Plus they’re really comfortable and brilliant for walks and gardening, yet still wash well after getting muddy and can look smart.

NoCureForLove · 09/01/2022 19:57

Have a great time Saurus with your birthday DH. LOOKING GOOD!
