Bideshi, that’s such a shame that it’s been spoiled for you. Is there no way you can put it on and which about till you recapture your initial feelings for it? Some people just think we should all look like clones. 🙄

AFingerofFudge · 09/01/2022 15:59

Agreed @TempleofZoom

dudsville · 09/01/2022 16:02

I've spent the weekend in COS shirt dresses (a denim and a forest green). For my dreaded return to work tomorrow I'm going to wear my new esme skirt. I was going to wear the loud poplin dress but it's turned a little cooler here. Anyone else looking forward to wearing something from the sale?

NoCureForLove · 09/01/2022 16:09

Oh Bideshi that is really sad. Post a pic here and I am sure you'll get lots of encouragement. Which dress is it?

And a big hug / pat on the back for you Cherries. I'm really sorry you're having a shit time. You always look fab.

The OP on that thread was a MEAN girl. Pay her no mind. Lots of others called her out on her nastiness. I have a sneaking feeling I would not like her or her taste / style one bit. But I wouldn't start a thread inviting others to join me in being downright horrible. Maybe she'll have a long hard think about her behaviour Smile

neveradullmoment99 · 09/01/2022 16:13

@Bideshi

Me. I just won't be able to wear it with confidence now. I'd be self-conscious.
What dress was it? You shouldn't listen to their horrible comments. If you feel good in it, you should keep it. Don't be swayed by someone on that thread. Did you see what the OP liked? Well I will say no more.
neveradullmoment99 · 09/01/2022 16:15

The thing is, the OP posted a picture of her choices. I mean, not my thing but each to their own. It just goes to show that everyone has different likes and dislikes. You should not be put off by a faceless person on the internet.

Well I went back last week and I have quite a few nice things. No idea what I will wear! I might just put the chambray shirt dress on.
neveradullmoment99 · 09/01/2022 16:17

Or I might wear the beige/khaki tiered poplin skirt.

dudsville · 09/01/2022 16:24

Good choices @neveradullmoment99!

We will feel better if we turn away from mean comments and refocus our attention on the things that we like and enjoy. The sums gone down here now and I just put on one of the new cardigans!

ilovecherries · 09/01/2022 16:28

I’m either still on zoom (trying to revive shreds of my own business) or I’m doing vaccinator shifts in scrubs where I look particularly attractive with my nose padded for the mask. I’m living in Toast alpaca jumpers and Alix trousers with thick socks.

faustina · 09/01/2022 16:32

@Bideshi - I am very glad you've posted here! If you can bear it at all, please put a pic of the dress on here as Nocureforlove suggests. We do it all the time as you will see if you scroll back, and we give each other honest but very kind opinions. It's been such a help to me to be able to do that - I hope you manage it - and I hope you keep the dress - I bet it looks lovely!

Another suggestion: if you have instagram, have a look at some of the lovely toast wearing accounts on there - lots of people all different shapes and sizes post pics of them wearing their toast clothes

faustina · 09/01/2022 16:37

@dudsville - I have been wearing my scarves on repeat and eagerly looking forward to the other two which should be arriving tomorrow!

I almost bought the bracken/almond graphic yoke jumper except they sold out, so for consolation, have been wearing last year's version in a paler brown

ilovecherries · 09/01/2022 16:41

I sent my graphic yoke back. It must have been in a store at some point as one shoulder was badly stretched with a hanger, and I just couldn’t get it pressed out.i knew it would drive me bonkers over time as I do baby my knitwear.

oops

dudsville · 09/01/2022 16:42

It was the seiko ikat cotton dress.

SmaugMum · 09/01/2022 16:52

Well, as the complete antithesis to all the ‘mean girl’ comments on the other thread, I picked my youngest DD up from forest school today and on the way home, my girls and I encountered a very confused and very elderly lady (and I use the word ‘lady’ advisedly as she was immaculately dressed in a scarlet, belted coat). We managed to piece together her ID from her purse and bag and discovered she’d got lost from her sheltered accommodation nearby. We walked her home and on her return, the Scarlet Lady (as she will be henceforth known) told the warden of her accommodation that she’d been rescued by a very nice Land Girl! (I was wearing my trusty cord Gabis, a Toast Fair Isle sweater and my Fracap Explorer boots.) High praise indeed!

@Bideshi, please come and join us and please don’t worry about silly Mean Girl comments; we’re a great source of mutual support and kindness on these threads. Even though the talk is of clothes, the subtext is of women of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and beliefs basically treating each other with respect and encouragement.

Blossomtoes · 09/01/2022 16:53

@Bideshi

Me. I just won't be able to wear it with confidence now. I'd be self-conscious.
Please don’t let a bunch of nasty mean girls with zero taste do this to you. Some of the things that OP has posted that she likes make me absolutely delighted that she’d hate the way I look.
ilovecherries · 09/01/2022 16:53

I think my favourite purchase of 2020 is either the denim dress with the mushrooms in the pocket or the denim pinafore with the vast side pockets.

alliscalm · 09/01/2022 16:55

@Bideshi

Me. I just won't be able to wear it with confidence now. I'd be self-conscious.
Please don’t think like that. I’m size 18 and 64 so I bet that woman was thinking about someone like me looking frumpy or cult-like or whatever in Toast. But I love it and feel very good in it. And that’s all that should matter.

Anyway she’s just flounced off her own thread because ‘ it’s not fun any more’. I think too many people had pointed out it was mean-spirited.

dudsville · 09/01/2022 16:57

Mumsnet moderator came to my rescue and deleted my ridiculous inability to post a link! What I'd said was "I agree with Fustina (and now others) @Bideshi, I'm not a regular poster on these threads but I follow them avidly because it's such a lovely group and I'm sure you will get great feedback.

I want to counter balance the emotions that thread raised here, so I am also adding in my favourite purchase of last year was..." that dress!

neveradullmoment99 · 09/01/2022 17:08

@dudsville

It was the seiko ikat cotton dress.
That is a beautiful dress. I love Ikat.
faustina · 09/01/2022 17:13

@ilovecherries - what colour was your graphic yoke jumper? Such a shame the shoulder was wonky

Without a doubt my favourite purchase last year was the mushroom in a pocket denim workwear dress. I haven't tried to wear it when it's this cold but can actually see that it might be fine

@SmaugMum - I love the idea that she thought you were a land girl - how lovely! I bet you made her day!

SmaugMum · 09/01/2022 17:14

In the spirit of keeping the positivity going, my favourite purchase of 2021 was the Mila Meadow Print dress (I love it so much that I actually bought a - heavily reduced - spare). And I know it’s only January, but I’m already convinced that my favourite buy of 2022 will be the Apple Green Arran cardigan. (Funnily enough, they work really well together).

dudsville · 09/01/2022 17:18

Oh, @SmaugMum, I wanted that dress, it is really pretty!
