My aran cardigan arrived, so pleased, its so warm and soft .
I also ordered a mohair cardigan from the Brora sale with the last of my christmas money.
I also finished a bit of knitting.
I made a slipover in natural coloured Erika Knight 4ply with a strand of Drops kidsilk.
Its very soft and a bit fluffy.
Currently knitting a pale grey yoke type sweater with a navy patterned yoke.
Not sure if any of you are on Ravelry but lots of lovely free patterns atm
@ScottishMouse
Why dont you order some fabric to make a skirt?
It would work out much less and there are some nice fabrics that are similar.

ScottishMouse · 06/01/2022 21:12

I do keep thinking I should do that @TempleofZoom. Every so often I browse Merchant and Mills fabric, drool a little, and then realise I have no time, so put it off again. Maybe 2022 is the year!

Do it! What I love about knitting and sewing is that you can do 5 minutes or 5 hours. Sewing I prefer to do in small stages as I find it makes me neater. Im also restricting my phone use and it gives me so much time I think I dont have!
faustina · 06/01/2022 21:16

@Countmeout- yes I did see it thanks. I think they only had bigger sizes in the archive sale, so didn't click on it, but mainly I found a lovely coat elsewhere (Aligne) which scratched the coat itch - and of course, since then, Omicron, so really haven't gone anywhere much at all - barely worn it!

@ScottishMouse - it's a fab colour isn't it? I am a total scarf convert now! It might also end up being one of the few Toast things I don't send back too!

I think that's me done at the Toast sale now. Unless they reduce the trousers I'm after ...

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/01/2022 21:20

Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt , I can see lots of the reviews indicate it’s better worn as a coat. I would want it as a dress, I’m thinking at 5’ 4 it might swamp me.

dudsville · 06/01/2022 21:30

I just took a peak at the new things, thankfully nothing tempted me. The few things I want in the current full price section aren't in the sale. I wish it would end now, I don't like this constant checking for drip feeding items into the sale. Is this a common tactic for shops or just a quirk of Toast?

@nanasueathome, have you had a hamper from them before?

Nanasueathome · 06/01/2022 21:49

No, dudsville
I usually buy Daylesford or Bamford hampers…that’s my other ‘obsession’ but the Christmas hamper looks good

dudsville · 06/01/2022 22:02

I took a look at it having read your post. It would never occur to me to buy a hamper so I was curious! What a fabulous niche obsession!

Saurus72 · 06/01/2022 22:10

@Theteapotsbrokenspout not sure if this is helpful or not but this is me in the indigo denim coat dress. I bought it last summer and have worn it a lot, only ever as a dress though. It’s very big - I’m a solid non-Toast 14 and I bought it in size 10. If you want to wear it as a coat one thing to bear in mind is it doesn’t have belt loops.

TOAST 2022, what will it bring us?!
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/01/2022 22:24

That looks lovely on you @Saurus72 , I’m really tempted now. And I’ve made belt loops before on Boden trousers Smile .

AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2022 06:46

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I also have the denim dress that @Saurus72 looks so fabulous in. I wear it the same way and also as a light coat. It looks good with ecru jeans. I’m 5’5” ish if that helps.
It’s a piece that I think I’ll have for years.

AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2022 06:51

I also made a couple of purchases in the revamped sale last night. The green cord raglan top and the pleat front cord skirt in ginger.
I have the cord raglan shirt/top in the black/ blue and love it so hope the green is a good shade for me. The ginger skirt is just to try, it’s a good price and it might look good with some jumpers I have. It needs to fit well though as I have hips and the pleat may not work.

Countmeout · 07/01/2022 07:45

The styling video is now the 27th . (Slightly obsessed obvs 😳)

The tile block trousers are really good value @AFingerofFudge. I I had them, loved the print but couldn’t make them work for me leg wise.

I’m surprised how little John Lewis has had, I assume they haven’t had many returns so far.

mizu · 07/01/2022 07:56

Saurus - that dress looks lovely. I'm always drawn towards denim dresses ( have 3 TOAST ones) and am trying to look at more colour but that photo makes me think...denim for me is such a staple and you can add all sorts to it. I often wear a polo neck under mine for work in the winter.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2022 08:13

Aaargh after all that I missed out on the smaller sizes in the indigo denim dress, apart from a 6 which will never fit me. I’ll have to wait and see if there are any returns.

Sorry to butt in but I drool over their fabrics too. And their patterns are very Toastish. I’m a recent Toast convert and back in the autumn I wanted the yoke cord skirt in forest green. But I was between sizes and couldn’t bring myself to fork out £125 for something that didn’t quite fit. I had a good look at the skirt and thought I’d try to make one. Found an almost exact same shade at Higgs and Higgs for £16 a metre. (£32 in all). I’m very pleased with it and have since made a navy version in heavier cord (£16 all in). I have basic skills and they are very simple elasticated waists but it leaves more in the budget for jackets and dresses. Only wish I could knit! Sorry this is a bit long. I’ve been lurking for some time….
TempleofZoom · 07/01/2022 09:03

Not butting in at all!
Welcome @alliscalm

I did buy the navy yoke skirt but also bought some needlecord from JL to make my own.
Ive got the Shepherd skirt pattern from M&M.

TerrierOrTerror · 07/01/2022 09:39

So just tried on my order and I think I love it all. The catch is I don't have a full length mirror and OH is out so no one to take a photo.

I ordered:

Linen Twill Sun Dress in Sienna. I love this, it's super flattering BUT I do have a fairly similar dress already. Only different is this is slightly darker, slightly thicker and thicker straps. Not sure it adds much to my wardrobe, although the other gets SO much wear throughout the year and wasn't expensive (Zara) so I may regret not keeping this.

Needlecord Shirt Dress in Golden Syrup - wasn't expecting to like this on but I really did feel good in it. Picture/mirror will be the decided here as I can't tell if it makes me look too bulky. Debating ordered the size 6 to see if that fits slightly better.

Needlecord Yoke Pocket Skirt in Black Forest - this was the main reason for my order, the colour is gorgeous and fit around the waist perfect. It is however too long I think, but would be very happy to get it taken up.

So I love everything, but equally it's not all perfect. I also really don't want a Toast addiction!

Saurus72 · 07/01/2022 09:59

@Theteapotsbrokenspout what size are you though? It really is very oversized do side 6 May still be worth a punt #enabler

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2022 10:13

@Saurus72 I’m a 12 on the high street and 10 in Toast dresses, I think anything smaller than an 8 would be too small.

Am sending back the slubby chambray dress after DH pointed out it dipped badly at the back, and I was undecided anyway.
Keeping the poplin pj shirt in blue gray, although to my eyes I looks black.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2022 10:15

'it looks'

AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2022 10:15

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I think I agree with @Saurus72, I’m a generous 12 in real life, I have the 10 in that denim dress and could have done with an 8 as the 10 is generous. 6 might be worth a try?
Also apologies for my enabling Grin

AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2022 10:16

Ah just seen your post @Theteapotsbrokenspout you sound a similar size to me, so maybe not. Fingers crossed for a return.

faustina · 07/01/2022 10:19

lots more in John Lewis - mostly large sizes

TempleofZoom · 07/01/2022 11:51

Another anti middle class clothes thread in S&B primarily aimed at bashing Toast.
This is getting a bit wierd now.
Its like the anti nurse/ anti cyclist threads that pop up every other week.
