So my three Toast parcels, one from 17th Dec and two from the sale, are still all showing as sitting in central London in a Royal Mail sorting office. so disappointing.

However, my JL parcel did arrive: two Ashley black jeans in a 10 and 12 snd the Oxford white shirt in a 10 and 12. All is going back except the Ashley 12s. I know there is a lot of love for the Oxford shirt but it didn't do much for me and the 12 looked too big and the 10 slightly snug. I already have two white Toast shirts so will make do with those.

I am now waiting on Royal Mail to grind into action....

My first Toast order arrived today. The Alpaca easy cardigan in grey - I found the yarn slightly scratchy so this will probably be returned. I also reordered the textured stripe jumper which I'd tried from John Lewis a while ago. I do love the colour combination but it is an odd fit so undecided about this one.

SmaugMum · 30/12/2021 12:50

I’m too lazy to scroll back (the post-Christmas slump has hit with a vengeance!) but someone (faustina or saurus?) ordered the patchwork bundle pouch? Any feedback? I’m tempted to order this for DD1(14) as storage for her new-found make-up hobby.

dudsville · 30/12/2021 12:57

Exciting stuff! My other alpaca cardigan arrived and is a keeper. Fawn doesn't suit me but the colours of the threads are a bright brown and a blue grey alongside the cream and I do like it. I think i find it softer than you do @savvy7, but it does need a layer and will be exceptionally warm, so only for proper winter, which we're not having here yet!

The brown scarf also arrived and is very pretty. The brown is vibrant, but I find it too scratchy to want it around my neck so it's heading back.

I've washed and ironed the tops and skirt and put them in my closet and did a bit of a cull. That's it for me now.

Does anyone have any tried and tested methods for softening poplin? I bought a beautiful dress in the previous toast sale but it's so incredibly crisp I wonder if I haven't made a mistake. It's so crisp it's loud!

Stoic123 · 30/12/2021 13:06

Slubby shirt dress arrived and it's a keeper - will be very useful.

@dudsville- I have the poplin tiered skirt and I quite like the rustling. No chance of sneaking up on anyone!

I do have a poplin dress from Cos and it does seem less crackly now after several washes (Toast skirt newer so only washed once) - but I'm not sure if just my imagination so would wait for others to confirm.

Snowyowl78 · 30/12/2021 13:08

My parcels arrived too! Probably a 50% hit rate which I’m pleased with. Field and Fleur pjs are lovely, altho the top seems a bigger size than the bottom, I would like to mix up the sizes but not allowed. Also field cotton pyjamas also a keeper. Patchwork scarf not very exciting for £90- going back. The lace yoke jumper in green is really beautiful, quite small sizing, keeping the large. I also ordered those green check pjs but top isn’t v flattering on me- going back. All in all, most pleased!

Countmeout · 30/12/2021 13:11

Busy day for us all! My Toast order arrived. The marzipan jumper is lovely, more egg yolk than marzipan to my eyes. It’s a great fit, I went for M in this one as I didn’t want it too fitted, it’s just right. Will have to play around to see what it goes with but it’s so good a fit I will keep. It’s not as scratchy as some of the sweaters I have
I had ordered the espadrilles, didn’t read the reviews until after and they were correct that they’re very small fitting and I would need to size up, also probably narrow but that’s ok for me. They do however feel very comfortable and I may reorder.

Re the poplin I think one of the nightdresses I have is that type of material and it is navy . I find @ScottishMouse it has a ‘bloom’ after washing, it doesn’t matter in a nightdress but would be annoying in anything else.

dudsville · 30/12/2021 13:18

It's a dress for summer, so maybe I'll try just sticking it in with the weekly washing, maybe a 40 degree wash.

Snowyowl78 · 30/12/2021 13:28

I’ve also ordered the marzipan yoke jumper as I like the green one so much, also yellow really isn’t my colour! Maybe this will be my yellow, ever hopeful!

Saurus72 · 30/12/2021 13:31

@SmaugMum - yes that was me who ordered the patchwork pouch. It hasn’t been delivered yet though (it was sent to the wrong sorting office apparently 🙄). Will report back when it arrives - there’s a v positive review of it online.

Has anyone spoken to Toast about this? I’m still waiting for the poplin shirt but even at sale prices I don’t want to keep a shirt if this is a possibility.

Countmeout · 30/12/2021 13:54

Well I didn’t bother about the washing @Theteapotsbrokenspout because it was a nightdress , has anyone else got it? I got it in sale summer 19 or 20.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/12/2021 14:03

Thanks Countmeout, perhaps I won’t like the shirt anyway Grin .

TempleofZoom · 30/12/2021 14:17

I adore the crispness and rustling of poplin.
I think someone mentioned feeling very governess in poplin which just sums it up for me, just swish around!

Im waiting for 3 parcels .

TempleofZoom · 30/12/2021 14:19

Which one was it?
Countmeout · 30/12/2021 15:09

It’s plain navy @TempleofZoom
Have just got it out and think it’s not bad really. Sorry if I’ve caused unnecessary anxiety. In my defence I’ve got a new washing machine and that may be helping 😳
I like poplin too and have had no problem with the dresses I have although they’re patterned. It does have a lovely swish.
This one.

I can see what you mean. Has it been washed with something that sheds? Cotton Poplin is a very tight, smooth weave so really shouldnt do that. If not I would contact Toast. Although they would probably want it back so it depends how attached to it you are?
faustina · 30/12/2021 15:57

New things added to the sale!

Stoic123 · 30/12/2021 16:11

@faustina- I know. Crinkled cotton in the sale for £50 less than I paid. Unfortunately no size small....

faustina · 30/12/2021 16:16

@Stoic123 - I would have ordered more if they'd had my size, but there were quite a few things like the chanterelle Alix with only one size left (not mine). Still, I have ordered a couple more jumpers in a medium on the grounds that the sizing is so odd, they might be small mediums, and a pair of pyjama bottoms to wear as trousers which might or might not fit.

TempleofZoom · 30/12/2021 16:18

@faustina

New things added to the sale!
Thanks @faustina Just bought the wool/cotton aran cardigan in chalk I tried it on in the shop months ago but didnt think it was worth £185. Thats 4 parcels Im waiting for Blush
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/12/2021 16:21

Does anyone know what the sizing is like on the floral pj shirt? , I’m really tempted. Not sure whether I need a 10 or 12 - the 10 in the Oxford was a good fit.

Nanasueathome · 30/12/2021 16:28

Yessssssssssssss
My desired dress is reduced from £150 to £95
Order placed
So, so pleased

Nanasueathome · 30/12/2021 16:28

It’s the vibrant check cotton dress
Saw it in Cheltenham store. Love it❤️❤️

Snowyowl78 · 30/12/2021 16:34

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I just ordered that in a 12, couldn’t see any clues from the reviews so guessed! I don’t want it tight in anyway.
