I want a new scent, a little sweet, but not ott

Something I can buy a sample of? I've made a note of sample sites listed on another thread, but unsure what to try. I'd like something warm and comforting, suitable for winter. Maybe with a hint of ginger or cinnamon? I used to like Flowerbomb, but after a while found it too sweet. Also used to wear JPG, classic. I quite like Armani Si.

Any suggestions welcome!

Ooh that sounds lovely, following for ideas.

Nina Ricci Delices d'Epices sounds like exactly what you want. It was like gingerbread. Too bad it was discontinued about 20 years ago Sad

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 06/12/2021 11:47

Sad that does sound lovely.

Tbh I'm not quite sure what I want. I don't like "fresh" fragrances, I like them to feel cosy somehow?? Warm and sweet, but not sickly, if that makes sense. For example, I've got some Lacoste Touch of Pink, it's ok, but a bit too... I'm not sure if it's too sweet or too floral? It's also not quite ... deep enough, is the only way I can describe it, it's too fresh I guess, not warm enough, not wintery enough.

I know there are perfume threads on here, but I've zero knowledge, just want to find something I like Blush

Armani She is lovely, as it Tom Ford Lost Cherry (but that one is £££££)

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 06/12/2021 13:07

Thank you, I'll check out Armani She.

I really love Collette by Tocca at the moment, it’s warm and sweet and wintery somehow. They sell it in anthropologie if you’re near one and want a sniff.

astoundedgoat · 06/12/2021 13:14

Is Coco Mademoiselle too sugary? That's what I wear now and love it. I used to LOVE Flowerbomb, but it was too light/sugary and wore off very fast.

A more wintery sweet scent is Burberry Brit. Must buy that again.

This one, Serge Lutens

I'm wearing Jo Malone White Moss and Snowdrops.

It's not sweet as such but it does seem to work well for as winter daytime scent. It's a bit fruity and florals but has a warmth from amber. It's not musky but is comforting in that way musk based perfumes are (or are to me!).

WithFlamingLocksOfAuburnHair · 06/12/2021 13:25

Kenzo Jungle (with the elephant lid) is warm and sweetish and very winter spice-ish. I'm sure you'd pick up a miniature on ebay.

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 06/12/2021 13:25

I used to wear JPG Classique and now I wear Liz Earle No 15. It might be what you’re looking for, although maybe not quite as sweet as you’d like. It’s definitely warm and cosy, and a bit more subtle and more grown-up than JPG. It smells expensive and luxurious to me, but still understated.

MrsBerthaRochester · 06/12/2021 13:38

Dior Addict. Its the perfect winter scent. Warm from the vanilla and lasts forever on clothes/scarves.

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 06/12/2021 13:55

Oh! Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll check them out now.

I've been trying to find some samples, but struggling. I've found one for Liz Earle no. 15, also Armani She.

When I really want to try a perfume and can't find a tester I sometimes buy the dupe from Perfume Parlour. They're not always bang on but they're pretty close. They have one for Jungle: www.perfume-parlour.co.uk/takadas-grass-for-women-0279

Their Tom Ford dupes are also very good.

Pearlywunzel · 06/12/2021 19:35

Poeme by Lancôme would probably fit the bill. I also like Terre Lumiere by L'Occitane which is similar but lighter.

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 06/12/2021 19:37

Thank you, birth. I'll look on Perfume Parlour and also look up Poeme and Terre Luminiere Smile

I love YSL black opium in the winter - I also used to wear flowerbomb but this is a little less floral/sweet and has a coffee note and vanilla. Lovely for cold weather!

ISeeTheLight · 06/12/2021 20:04

I like Fan di Fendi and Valentina by Valentino.

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 06/12/2021 20:23

Thanks, I'll see if I can find some samples.

I live in quite a small town and no testers anywhere Sad

I also like similar perfumes to you, love Armani Si, I've recently got Lancome La Nuit Tressor Nude, sweet, long lasting and so good

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 06/12/2021 20:48

I'll have a look, thanks Smile

Very Good Girl by Carolina Herrera is sweet and fruity

Magicmagician · 06/12/2021 20:53

Following as this is exactly how I’d describe the perfumes I like OP, was also a fan of flowerbomb Grin going to try some of these!
