Something I can buy a sample of? I've made a note of sample sites listed on another thread, but unsure what to try. I'd like something warm and comforting, suitable for winter. Maybe with a hint of ginger or cinnamon? I used to like Flowerbomb, but after a while found it too sweet. Also used to wear JPG, classic. I quite like Armani Si.

Any suggestions welcome!

Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede or Lancôme Idole

Pineapplemonkey · 08/12/2021 14:34

@Mrsbrownsbuoys

I've been trying to find some samples, but struggling. I've found one for Liz Earle no. 15, also Armani She.
Where did you find a sample for Liz Earle No 15? I really want one but can't find anything!
Mrsbrownsbuoys · 08/12/2021 14:39

I found a sample on Ebay @Pineapplemonkey.

@Innatenvi

Armani She is lovely, as it Tom Ford Lost Cherry (but that one is £££££)
Perfume Parlour’s dupe is lovely.
Mrsbrownsbuoys · 08/12/2021 19:42

Today I actually got to a larger town and in Boots I tried Daisy Love on. It's very nice! Quite sweet but not overpowering.

I love lost cherry but it's really disappointing in terms of longevity given how much it costs

Armani she used to be my favourite perfume (the gold version, not the white one) but the reformulated it a few years ago and it's just nothing like it used to be now. I can't wear it any more, it just makes me miss the original!

@FreeBritnee

This sounds like exactly the thread for me. I’ve never found my signature perfume. I like the woody, exotic, dark kind of perfumes that also have some sweetness.

I’m convinced I’m one of those people where every perfume smells like cats piss when it goes off. I even sprayed some Chanel no.5 on my wrist today as I’d never smelt it before. It smells like old lady and talc. Very disappointed considering it’s iconic.

I agree about some of the Chanel's. Especially Chanel No.5. Not a fan of that scent and (imho) smells exactly how you described, maybe it sits differently once it's on your skin? Who knows

However, there are a couple which are really nice and not talc powdery smelling at all. Chanel Allure Sensualle I mentioned up thread. And also Coco Mademoiselle are quite nice and sweet smelling. Worth trying them on next time you're in a perfume shop

Also on Amazon, I've bought some dupe roll on perfume oils, gotten some compliments on them, last a while and are cheap as chips. I'll see if I can find a few links

Gonnagetgoing · 09/12/2021 10:40

YSL Cinema has clementine, almond blossom and cyclamen but to me is very 'warm', even but also sort of festive season-ish?

Is one of the few perfumes I've worn to death since originally buying it and almost finished the bottle!

jpbee · 09/12/2021 10:40

I've also quite liked Flowerbomb and love Armani Si.

I suspect Lancome La Vie et Belle may be too sweet for you, but it holds well and does have a slightly warmer edge than Flowerbomb.
Lancome also have a new-ish perfume called Idole which might be worth a look.

bippityboppity87 · 09/12/2021 10:42

These ones on Amazon, they do different ones, but they're not expensive, so you can buy a few and try them out

La Vie Perfume Oil

JSL52 · 09/12/2021 10:48

Eau des Jardins ? Clarins. It's quite blackberry ish ,

LovelaceBiggWither · 09/12/2021 10:48

The Lutens gingembre is lovely.

SockFluffInTheBath · 09/12/2021 10:54

I loved the sample of Si but when I got the actual spray it’s too much, cloyingly sweet snd makes my head hurt. My favourite is Issue Miyake Pure Nectar, others are J’adore or Alien.

SockFluffInTheBath · 09/12/2021 10:54

Issey not issue

SockFluffInTheBath · 09/12/2021 10:56

Or the Clarins eau dynamisante is warm and spicy, but needs refreshing throughout the day.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 09/12/2021 11:08

Jo malone has done a collaboration with Zara to make a collection called vibrant cities. Magnificently Dubai is beautiful, warm, spicy and a little sweet and last AGES which is so unusual for a jo malone. £15 for a 40ml bottle can highly recommend for winter.

Also revolution beauty have just brought out 4 fragrances which are also very nice

ChickenGotLegs · 09/12/2021 11:10

Ralph by Ralph Lauren. Comes in a blue dumpy bottle (sorry can't post a link)

LadyEloise1 · 09/12/2021 11:15

Molecule04 is lovely.
I stopped a woman lately and asked her what perfume she wore- the scent trailed in her wake- it was Molecule04

Franklin12 · 09/12/2021 11:22

Jo Malone English Pear and Fressia?

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 09/12/2021 11:33

Lots of suggestions, thank yoooooou! I'll look for samples. I'm not a big fan of Jo Malone, find them very expensive and haven't enjoyed the ones I've tried, in particular Pomegranate Noir Confused

SollaSollew · 09/12/2021 11:56

These are my type of fragrances too! Not too floral, a bit spicy or woody and with a sweet base to them.

I'd second the Maison Margiella Replica "by the fireplace" as a great winter one, it has a touch of sweet but also smokey, they describe it as "like toasted marshmallows in front of a dancing flame" Confused

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanilla is also lovely but very expensive, I've recently discovered that the Zara man Tobacco is a really great cheap replica.

If you wanted something more floral but also a bit unusual you could try Gypsy Water by Byredo which has a bit of a florally, woody, smokey smell but also has a base of Vanilla.

arcticocean · 09/12/2021 18:42

I think I have fairly similar preferences to you. I loved flowerbomb for along time, but it is much too sweet for me now. At the minute I LOVE molton brown's muddled plum. It's only available at Christmas and it feels very cosy and a bit spicy.

Bertiebiscuit · 09/12/2021 22:33

Check out the "Spice Bomb" - I love it,

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 09/12/2021 22:51

Artico that sounds nice, I'll look for it.

Bertie, is that by V&R too?
