Dry aging skin. I’m not bothered at the price at this stage I just want some kind of coverage that’s not too thin. I’ve tried Terry the one in the jar was ok but the one in the bottle with the dropper was a total waste of money. Mac is too claggy twice I’ve been persuaded to buy the compacts which are so dry. I’ve tried various cheapo ones and nothing seems to give me a flawless look😃

Giorgio Armani foundation is the best

Viviennemary · 02/12/2021 17:46

I think estee lauder perfectionist is very good. And of the less pricey ones bourjois 123 perfect is really good too. But my skin isnt dry. Probably aging though!

CandleWick4 · 02/12/2021 17:47

@Udouhun

Giorgio Armani foundation is the best
Second this. Best one out there in my option and I’ve tried a lot.
Lucked · 02/12/2021 17:51

I am mid 40s. Just worked through a phase of trying lots including Estée Lauder, Clinique and Fenty.

I have settled on Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish. Getting the perfect shade AND the right finish is the holy grail.

PinkJellyandCustard · 02/12/2021 17:55

Touche Eclat is my go to for mid 50s dry skin.

Geamhradh · 02/12/2021 17:59

I have tried, in the last 3-4 years:
Charlotte Tilbury Magic thing- had a sample, loved it, bought a full bottle, totally different, ebayed it.
Estée Lauder DW- dreadful stuff, orange and cakey
Bobbi Brown serum- the best of this list, but probably wouldn't repurchase
Nars Sheer Glow- is neither sheer or glowy
YSL Touche Éclat- s'ok, but nothing special
Armani Luminous Silk- ditto
Armani Lasting Silk- better than the luminous but again, not for me
Clinique Even Better Glow- was looking to replace the wonderful laser repairwear- the sales assistant recommended this.
Chanel Les Beiges, ok
Lancome Teint Idole, ok

The holy grail? Boots Hydraluminous. Closely followed by Maybelline Dream Silk. If I mix them- perfection!

MrsFoxyplease · 02/12/2021 17:59

Cheap and cheerful Rimmel 'Wake me up' ( orange lid).
I've tried lots including Lancome, EL, Dior- but always come back to this.

Geamhradh · 02/12/2021 17:59

Meant to say, I'm 55 and have dry skin.

3luckystars · 02/12/2021 18:02

My foundation looks brutal. Is wasn’t before but I think my skin has changed.
I bought a Clarins one recently and I can’t wash it off my hands, it’s like grease! Revolting stuff.

I’m going to try that boots one next!

BreadBreadBread · 02/12/2021 18:08

I bought L'Oréal Infallible 24 hr foundation after seeing it recommended on here and I love it. Think it's my new favourite.

I also love Bare Minerals.

Ahhhhhbisto · 02/12/2021 18:19

Posted on a similar thread recently. If you don't already use it, primer can make such a difference under foundation that isn't applying or sitting well.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 02/12/2021 18:22

Touche Eclat one shade darker than your skin colour, I'm 60 and it makes my skin look great. I cannot have thick foundations as they settle in all the wrinles and look awful especially on my very dry skin. I put my face cream on first, leave it for 10 mins while I get dressed then go with the foundation. The slightly darker colour makes up for the lack of thickness and looks great when blended in.

lunarlandscape · 02/12/2021 18:24

I have tried everything under the sun and discovered the best one for my very dry middle-aged skin is Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation.
It is silky, moisturising, translucent and yet hides blemishes very easily. And it stays on all day without caking.

RavenclawsRoar · 02/12/2021 18:31

Rimmel lasting radiance. Best by far and I've tried a ton of foundations.

Zeldaaa · 02/12/2021 18:48

The new Lisa Eldridge seamless foundation. Such a great shade range

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/12/2021 18:51

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser is great. Lightish for a foundation, but thorough for a TM - with a bit of concealer it might do you.

TheAverageUser · 02/12/2021 18:52

I use Bobbi Brown and it's fantastic.

Indoorcamping · 02/12/2021 19:55

I always go back to max factor facefinity. Though slightly different shades depending on the time of year.

Sexnotgender · 02/12/2021 19:57

Clinique even better glow or Tom Ford Traceless. Both are glowy and glorious. I’m SUPER picky.

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/12/2021 19:58

Aging, dry skin here too. Best foundation I have found recently (and I have tried them all over the years!) is the L’Oréal Paris true match tinted serum foundation - it’s really natural and nice. My new fave however is tinted moisturiser, either the Avene anti rouge one (about £18 from boots), or the Chantecaille Just Skin (somewhat pricier but just lovely). As I age I prefer lighter coverage I find.

Subbaxeo · 02/12/2021 20:02

Bare Minerals complexion gel rescue. Looks as if I have nice skin.

waltzingparrot · 02/12/2021 20:04

I'm 50s with very dry skin. I use Leichner Kamera Klear , Very creamy with good coverage.

qualitygirl · 02/12/2021 20:09

Honestly NO7 protect and perfect it's Amazing!!! It is lovely and silky and spf 50 too!!🙌

toastfiend · 02/12/2021 20:23

I like the Fenty Hydrating foundation and IT Cosmetics CC cream. Great coverage and don't go dry and cakey, plus give more of a dewy/glowy look.

I've really struggled to find foundation in the past as lots oxidate on my skin and turn me orange. I found it really helpful going to Boots and asking at the beauty counter what they recommended. I don't know if I just got lucky, but the woman I spoke to was so knowledgeable, made some great recommendations for me and gave me lots of tester pots to take home so I could try them before spending any money. It was great and meant I wasn't constantly throwing money down the drain trying new ones that didn't work for me.

Cloudbaser · 02/12/2021 20:26

After being a Touche Eclait devote i now use Erborian. Bb for more coverage Cc cream for natural look. After 2 years of covid and minimal makeup normal foundation feels like a cakey mask.
