What is your absolute favourite foundation I’ve tried them all it feels like

Dry aging skin. I’m not bothered at the price at this stage I just want some kind of coverage that’s not too thin. I’ve tried Terry the one in the jar was ok but the one in the bottle with the dropper was a total waste of money. Mac is too claggy twice I’ve been persuaded to buy the compacts which are so dry. I’ve tried various cheapo ones and nothing seems to give me a flawless look😃

Tom Ford is lovely too. BUT… it’s 3 times the price of the Clinique and it’s definitely not any better.

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

Shiseido syncro skin
Another vote for this and applying with a foundation brush
WhenSepEnds · 03/12/2021 21:27

Any from Nars for me

bigchanges1 · 03/12/2021 21:42

Byterry hyaluronic hydra is the best I’ve found for my skin. I’m 48 and found everything else settled in any lines and started looking cakey.

NotMyCat · 03/12/2021 22:15

Ester Lauder futurist - I have dry skin

CommanderBurnham · 03/12/2021 22:44

As I'm getting older, I'm using foundation less. By the time I have primer, concealer on, I just need the tiniest bit. Very subtle highlighting and contouring covers most things anyway, with the very lightest dusting of translucent powder over the top is more than enough. Maybe use less, or mix with your normal moisturiser and use concealer for coverage where required.

CommanderBurnham · 03/12/2021 22:45

Yes to PP use a fairly stiff kabuki brush to buff buff buff

KimmyKimdoo · 03/12/2021 22:52

I used that No7 one for ages and was always pleased with it. Then my friend recommended Clinique Even Better and I treated myself for a change - have never gone back. I’m suprised my skin can look this good! I barely use any makeup products but this is a firm favourite and I only put a teeny tiny bit on too so it’s lasts ages.

KimmyKimdoo · 03/12/2021 22:59

Out of interest - I don’t use the buffer brush. Is it worth getting then? I just use my fingers, have had brushes and sponges in the past but never taken to it. I really only like to apply a minimal amount and o always get like I was slathering in on with a sponge! How do you use the brush? To apply the foundation? Or just to buff it after you’ve applied it?

RhondaZ · 03/12/2021 23:03

My foundation needs replacing soon so going to study this thread.

CommanderBurnham · 03/12/2021 23:12

I apply with fingers first, then buff it. It polishes it up IYSWIM.

twocandlelady · 03/12/2021 23:20

The bobby (Bobbi?) brown intensive serum one is LOVELY! There’s a newish EL one that’s a hydrating one unlike the awful double wear.

SiobhanSharpe · 03/12/2021 23:31

There's a makup guy on youtube who puts out lots of tutorials -Wayne Goss.
He suggests using fingers to apply foundation then a firm-ish brush with a circular but flat end surface to buff it in really well.
A sponge uses up too much product, apparently.
Something shaped like this one - but there's loads out there.

I use Max Factor Pan Stick on my 45yo skin. Maybe not as expensive or popular as some of the ones suggested on this thread, but it has a lovely smooth consistency, even coverage without being heavy, and I find I don't need a concealer.

Signoramarella · 03/12/2021 23:54

Over-the- years have tried loads. Settled on.maybelline dream mousse. Only 9£, AMAZINGu smooth results. Use with Laura mercier primer. I'm 50 ...

Greytminds · 04/12/2021 06:41

I’ve been getting on well with Clarins skin illusion. It’s really light but buildable cover.

I use a beauty blender sponge. It gives an absolutely flawless finish.
Arethechildreninbedyet · 04/12/2021 09:43

Nars Sheer glow is lovely and light but I cannot stress how AMAZING the hourglass setting powder. Any foundation looks amazing with it:

KimmyKimdoo · 04/12/2021 10:46

@Sexnotgender please could you share a link? What do you do with it? Actually put the product onto the sponge and dap on the face? Or just dap skin after applying product to face?

ponkydonkey · 04/12/2021 10:50

As I've got older I've struggled to get the colour and the texture/finish I need but this works well for me as you mix the pigment drops with your favourite moisturiser and can vary the coverage by adding more or less drops. I picked the same shade I'd had in one of their other foundations and it is a perfect colour, with the bonus of getting a variety of finishes from the same tube.
