Merry Christmas everybody!

Today I shall mostly be wearing this very festive tiara, which apparently used to belong to Betty, Lady Grantchester. So not quite royal, but hopefully still acceptable here Grin

Merry Christmas all and I hope somewhere out there is QueenoftheAndals sipping champagne in her tiara and slippers!

FionaMacCool · 25/12/2021 10:24

Merry Christmas to all the funny and clever Royal tiara lovers.

Thanks to QueenoftheAndals for establishing these thread and maintaining a tone of positivity... this is a lovely respite.

Merry Christmas to you all, such a lovely group of people. Hope everyone is enjoying their tiaras!

AdaColeman · 25/12/2021 17:51

I'm not keen on Camilla's blue patchwork coat that she wore to church this morning, though I do like her jaunty hat. Also it's nice to see her fab pearls, and yes, she is wearing her favourite black boots!

Tinitiny · 25/12/2021 19:27

I thought the same @AdaColeman, the cut is good but the patchwork is a bit headache inducing. Though that blue-teal colour suits her.
And please, please, can Rigby&Peller come back and intervene? 🙈

MotherofPearl · 25/12/2021 20:02

Very appropriately regal dog Seneca!

Eaumyword · 25/12/2021 20:16

@SenecaFallsRedux did you get a coveted special invitation to spend Christmas with her maj, or did you steal a corgi?!Xmas Grin

KillingMeDeftly · 25/12/2021 21:21

I didn't like Camilla's patchwork coat - it reminded me too much of HMQ's harlequin gown! Sophie looked good in a black coat and leopard print hat, as did the Duchess of Gloucester in a dove-grey belted coat. And as usual poor Louise Windsor was dressed like a woman in late middle age in a tan coat and court shoes. It's such a contrast to her continental contemporaries.

100problems · 25/12/2021 22:05

So Catherine's tinkled the ivories in WA and got a name check in HMQ's speech.

Bravo Catherine. Bravo.

Feedback from the 100 Christmas gathering "she fucking nailed it".

100problems · 25/12/2021 22:06

I like to think Lady Lou is kitted out from Misguided and they throw a spare coat over her before she hits the church.

Eaumyword · 25/12/2021 22:11

I'm afraid I agree on Lady Lou and Camilla. Not their best looks, both a bit matronly.
I saw the clip of Kate playing the piano - really impressive. The woman's got balls of steel and a wide skillset repertoire! Well done Kate!

Choux · 25/12/2021 23:26

I think Kate's piano playing was a great way of catching the public's attention for this carol service and showing another side of herself. But she did not play the piano in front of the entire Abbey audience. The song was recorded the day before the service so she had time to do several takes if needed.

She apparently rehearsed both with the group of musicians and at home so she took it seriously. But it's a bit like a strictly dancer - they learn some intricate steps to give a great performance but they don't necessarily have a wide repertoire at the same standard. Kudos to her anyway.

I also learned that she wore a red version of the outfit she wore to Philip's funeral which I find quite touching given the theme of the concert being missing loved ones.

Impressive Kate.

KillingMeDeftly · 25/12/2021 23:38

@Eaumyword Matronly I can understand on Camilla. She's 74 after all!

I though that was weird at the time ( the funeral link).
HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/12/2021 08:44

Where are the photos of Camilla and Lady Louise? I'm considering getting a pair of Camilla's boots! They're definitely versatile Grin

AdaColeman · 26/12/2021 08:47

I thought Kate’s piano playing was a clever way to grab public attention and to signal her own commitment to her cause.

As a girl, she was awarded a Grade 3 in piano and a Grade 5 in music theory, so it’s obviously something she’s been interested in and worked at for some time.
For all we know, Kate is getting regular piano tuition from Daniel Barenboim or someone similar.

I was reading Richard Attenborough’s autobiography recently in which he talks about giving the young Diana tuition in public speaking after being asked for help by Charles. The Royal Family have access to all sorts of benefits and talents which the public knows nothing about.

peridito · 26/12/2021 09:36

Just popping in for light relief .

Odd how the camera shot makes Catherine's earrings look different in these two pics

Does anyone know what material Camilla's church going coat is made of ? Could it be suede ??
Seam across the bust doesn't do it for me ,lovely colour though .

Serenster · 26/12/2021 10:57

Merry Christmas everyone!

I was impressed by Catherine’s piano playing - choosing to play with professional musicians for something that will be televised (even if not filmed live) would be a huge gulp moment for me - and I play the piano a bit.

I actually loathed Camilla’s coat - I really don’t like patchwork fabrics though. Sophie looked lovely in her navy coat and leopard print pillbox-style hat.

The Danish royals were also out and about going to church. At first glimpse I totally thought that was Mary in the cream coat! She’s there looking nicely co-ordinated with Fred in a blue Hobbs coat.

I like Mary's coat - apparently it's called the Meghan. Imagine if Kate wore it - the Mail etc would have a field day wondering what it meant!!

Maireas · 26/12/2021 11:44

I like CPM's coat, and Sophie's look.
Camilla's patchwork coat? Nope. I remember having a patchwork suede mini skirt back in the day - not a good look.
(The internet Queen that is the wonderful TracyBeaker would no doubt find said skirt!)

Enjoying those Danish royal photos, they look fab!
Love Sophie's hat - a bit of stylish fun.
Hello @Maireas - hope you've had a nice Christmas? Ours was scuppered by Covid, but fortunately discovered before we mixed households, so it ended up a beans on toast affair (actually lovely!)
I had a suede patchwork long skirt in the '90's (why, oh why) Thought it looked amazing with long boots....
