General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread

As last year, I suggest we use this as a general beauty advent calendar thread for everyone with beauty calendars that may not be covered by other threads or who prefers a general thread. I’m opening FM, Harrods and M&S this year, and will aim to post on both this and the M&S threads.

Please can no-one post any spoilers before 7am on the relevant day.

Just over a week to go. I’m really looking forward to it!

I’m thinking of getting the Degusta for DH as I feel guilty opening my space NK whilst he opens his malteser calendar.

Does it normally get discounted in December?

I have a Cath Kidston one, today was a travel size body wash. Really useful as I'm away twice in December.

the content of ritual advents is different but there are good few items that are same

ASOS and JL for me today.

Really impressed with ASOS - a full size Origins Drink Up Intensive overnight hydrating mask which I use anyway (anyone else with ASOS - not sure if there are enough for a thread?).

JL was a small Augustinus Bader Rich Cream which I’ve never tried before. I used it today and it’s nice but hasn’t wowed me.

I've got the Rituals house and love the smell of the jasmine candle this morning. Info on door says to burn it on first Sunday of Advent so will look forward to that

I made my own calendar with the CB beauty edits. Good to hear it's nice.

I didn't see that. I am burning mine now. I am working on a presentation for my uni course and the smell is keeping me relaxed!

Looking forward to trying the EH cleanser in my M&S.

And got a MAC liquid lipcolour in 'Mull it Over' in my Fenwick calendar. will have to try the colour to see what I think.

Of course that's what the plastic thing is for - must be brain fog, I thought it was to make a pattern on your cappuccino .

Loved the waffles, will definitely use the EH cleansing balm and and salted caramel popcorn from Joe & Seph for later. Great start.

Oooh. You definitely need to post a pic before you attack the crumpets. Cherry jam sounds lovely and the spoon sounds really adorable.

So, I’ve just remembered that, some months ago, when it wasn’t clear there’d be an M&S calendar this year, I bought a bargainous 2018 M&S calendar on ebay, thinking I could open it instead. It’s been sat in the back of a cupboard ever since. But I’ve decided to open it now too, and compare with this year’s. Pic attached - it’s a sample size Verbena shower gel. Nice, but the generous pot of EH cleanser definitely wins on day 1.

I have kiehls, which was an avocado eye cream- seems quite nice!

@AprilLady how nice! I remember the Verbena shower gel from the M&S calendar - I saved it for a holiday and it was a really lovely treat!

I've got the Aldi Lacura calendar.
Very luxurious packaging and I'm going to keep the box and use it next year too I think.

Jelly cleanser in today's drawer. Already washed my face tonight so I'll use it in the morning. It smells nice though.

I'm impressed with the EH cleansing balm in my M&S cal - the first time I tried this was from an M&S cal several years ago and I bought the full size on the strength of it. This is a good size pot - bigger than the pot they sell with the travel minis. I might save this for next time we take D1 back to university (overnight hotel stay).

D2 was very happy with day 1 in her Barry M cal. (From Pretty Little Thing with a good discount) A silver nail varnish.

Not too keen on the rituals item today but it will be used

Morning all. Very happy with Day 2.

Evidens de Beaute face mask. Harrods. A new brand and product for me, so quite exciting. I thought it was full size initially but it’s not quite (it’s 30ml rather than 50ml). Still far bigger than a sample size though. And boxed!

Sol de Janeiro Hair Repair cream. F&M I’ve been wanting to try this for ages, so very happy to get this rather than another body cream from the brand.

In the M&S “Advent-off” (thanks @OchonAgusOchonOh):
2021: a small M&S brand body wash, in scents that I’m likely to enjoy.
2018: a teeny tube of a Filorga eye cream. I know others rate the brand, but a bit meh for me

Has anyone's Degustabox not got anything in today? I can't see that it's moved about elsewhere either.

Feelunique is a teeny Charlotte Tilbury eye cream. I know CT gets a bit of a bad rep on here so I've never bothered buying any of the products but was recently impressed with a lipstick I got in an ASOS beauty box so interested to see what the eye cream is like.

Disappointed after receiving TWO hair products this morning.
