Is this chavvy?
I get why you'd think it but I think its more of a subtle modern version that the old block letter gold MUM necklaces.

He just told me to take it off because he doesn't like it. He was being petty because he brought a weird hat (that made him look like he was wearing a stiff condom on his head) last week and I politely and subtly asked him to wear the woolly hat and said it's more weather appropriate but really it wasn't because of that its just made him look so silly, its more suited for the hipster look. OH style is generally just well he doesnt care and will wear anything, doesnt care what it looks like together. I asked him to not wear this hat that he got last week.

My necklace is hidden and under my top, it's not being viewed by everyone.

was it a pharrell williams style hat?

pictish · 13/11/2021 14:09

I think it’s naff but so what…if you like a mama necklace, have one.

PleasantFucker · 13/11/2021 14:11

I need to see the stiff condom hat, he has to wear it while you take a pic though or that just takes away the funGrin

Mantlemoose · 13/11/2021 14:14

I wouldn't wear something my really disliked and would expect the same courtesy. I value his opinion and him mine. I don't see why this causes such offence.

Dontbeme · 13/11/2021 14:14

Is this his hat OP? Please say "yes"

pastypirate · 13/11/2021 14:18

I've got this necklace.

The stiff condom hat though 😂😂😂😂

CallMeNutribullet · 13/11/2021 14:18

Chavvy is a horrible word but you kind of started this didn't you?

Neither if you should be telling each other what to wear

GloryGloryBakedPotato · 13/11/2021 14:19

Please show us the hat! Pretty please?

Theunamedcat · 13/11/2021 14:22

I think its just a non slouchy beanie hat that sticks up like a condom back in the day we would have called them ill fitted these days its fashion 🤷‍♀️ who knew

SeasonFinale · 13/11/2021 14:24

The reason why any necklace with a name (or mum/mama etc) is seen as chavvy is because chavvy soap characters always have them eg. Bianca, Tiffany (her daughter) Kat Slater etc.

whiskersonkittenss · 13/11/2021 14:29

I'm one that likes the old gold MUM necklaces bracelets and rings. Yours is lovely

diddl · 13/11/2021 14:31

Well what a disappointment-no pic of the condom hatSad

hotmeatymilk · 13/11/2021 14:32

I’ve never understood name necklaces. Like Carrie on SATC – would she otherwise forget? When your kids are saying “Mum, mum, mum, dad’s wearing his condom hat again” do you check the necklace to remember it’s you they’re talking to?

WildExcuses · 13/11/2021 14:33

Why do you tell each other what they can and can’t wear? How controlling.

PupInAPram · 13/11/2021 14:35

@Bin85

I need to see a picture of this hat!!
I second that!
LovePoppy · 13/11/2021 14:40

@LakeShoreD

Wear the chav necklace. Let him wear his condom hat. Stop dictating what the other should wear because it’s weird and controlling.
👏👏
Polmuggle · 13/11/2021 14:43

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches

you should have a Mexican standoff with him in his condom hat and you in your mama necklace.
You need three people for a Mexican stand off.

Yes it's chavvy but if you like it, wear it and let him wear his hat.

icedcoffees · 13/11/2021 14:45

I mean, you started it.

OkayTrinny · 13/11/2021 14:49

I cant seem to find the hat.
When he told me to take it off, I looked in the cupboard to get the hat and tell him to wear it because that was the argument was really about but I couldn't find it, may be in his car.

@Dontbeme yes it's actually similar to this without the bit on the top.
The hat doesnt fully cover his head so looks even
more wrong as OH is bald and he has small hairs showing.

I'd say naff rather than chavvy

LandGirlJudy · 13/11/2021 14:52

It's more hun than chav.

Brought instead of bought is kind of chavvy.

Condom hat needs to be seen before I can comment on who is the more controlling.

OkayTrinny · 13/11/2021 14:55

Our LOs say mama and this is how mum is said in our home language. Sounds stupid, Its special to me because it make me feel like LOs are near even when their away from me.

If I buy a new dress or something I'll ask him how it looks and I can take it if he said it doesnt suit you or whatever. But I the necklace is hidden away from view most of the time.

HeronLanyon · 13/11/2021 15:00

I too think it is naff but I’ll bet the stiff condom hat is worse !
You wear what you want op.

SparrowNest · 13/11/2021 15:02

The necklace is fine. His hat is probably fine even if you’re not convinced it fits with his usual style. Neither are going to be notable enough to attract the attention of strangers.

LettertoHermoine · 13/11/2021 15:02

Get him one for around his neck that says wanker.
