I’ve also just ordered this Arcteryx jacket to go over the down jacket, though it’s not here yet. I’m thinking it might be short enough to go over skirts too, I’m never very good at coats so do please say if you agree. I have it in my head that coats should always be the same length as the skirt - does anyone else think this? So I’m always wandering around feeling wrong!
I’m also including a pic of the down jacket to go under the Madrid coat and the Cordetta. It’s a lot slimmer fitting and more flattering than it looks - and a really good price. so think it should be great for layering now it’s getting cooler. Will also check out the Jill Sander - would like a short puffer to go with trousers.
I know it seems I’m on a coat buying frenzy, but over the last year my wardrobe seems to have transitioned form navy on navy on navy, to black on grey on black - hence the necessity of new coats/jackets.
I say necessity...

@ScottishMouse

Now, my next question about Toast dresses and skirts in the winter is…what kind of coat or jacket do you wear on top? This is the other reason I tend not to wear dresses and skirts when it gets cold. In spring or early autumn I wear a denim workwear jacket over, but in winter I usually wear a khaki coloured sherpa lined parka (not a Toast one) and it is the wrong length, the wrong style, and too narrow when closed up to wear over long skirts. I had hoped the quilted jacket this season might work, but it is just enormous and makes me look ridiculous. I need ideas please!
I'm the same. I think just a plain coat that covers most of it in a neutral colour is best.
neveradullmoment99 · 07/11/2021 13:36

I opt for black mostly but I own a hush one from seasons back in dark olive. It's very useful.

faustina · 07/11/2021 16:12

I wear mostly black coats, long, oversized and wool. My favourite is a very old Lemaire/Uniqlo collab one

I have that Jill Sander long puffer coat too, and I did wear it quite often last year, but I'm not really a puffer coat fan - don't like the noise it makes (if that makes sense). It was useful for queuing outside supermarkets though!

I was thinking about getting one of the wool plus J coats this year - but I'm not sure about the belts - they seem quite fussy and the price is a bit mad for Uniqlo. I have just ordered the Theory/uniqlo collab wool coat and might still order a Jill Sander one to compare before deciding

ScottishMouse · 07/11/2021 20:56

Grrrrrrrr.
Completely unrelated to Toast chat, but I need to rant. Why do people think they can get away with buying from you on eBay, then damaging the item and claiming it is faulty and requesting a return, when you have clearly described the item, and you do not accept returns?! Well, I know why, because eBay is always on the buyer’s side and they ca indeed get away with this. This is the second time this has happened to me, and it is totally infuriating. I am out of pocket, and am now expecting something to come back to me in a state that it was not in when I sold it, and I can no longer re-sell it.
This plus the ridiculous fees ebay now charge sellers really puts me off selling on there anymore. Has anyone used any other selling platforms? And who is looking after our Facebook group…I may need to join!

faustina · 07/11/2021 21:40

@ScottishMouse - the same thing happened to me once - sent back something they'd ruined, but Ebay were quite good actually, and they let me keep the money they'd paid. Have you checked? If it's returned not in the state you sent it, you should be able to claim the money

I've been selling lots on ebay recently and not had any bad experiences - that does sound shit for you - hope you manage to resolve it!

faustina · 07/11/2021 21:41

I'm sharing looking after the FB group with @ilovecherries. If you message one of us we will send you the link

ScottishMouse · 07/11/2021 21:49

Thanks @faustina, I will message you (if I can figure out how!).
I’m just not sure how I could prove that the item wasn’t damaged when I sold it. This time it was only about £20, so it’s not a massive deal, it is more the fact the people take the p**s that is frustrating. Anyhow, thanks for letting me get the rant out of my system!

faustina · 07/11/2021 21:52

In my case, I just said 'the bag smells horrible now' and they decided in my favour. I didn't have to prove it!

ScottishMouse · 07/11/2021 21:55

Oh that’s good @faustina. I will see what state it is in when I get it back.
Have pm’d you re the Facebook group (I hope!).

ilovecherries · 07/11/2021 21:55

I’ve made a couple of hundred this weekend on FB selling groups but I have a big pile that I’m going to have to face eBay for. I hate the new system there.

The fees are ridiculous. It actually makes selling on ebay not worth the hassle. I don't actually mind that they take the money right away or that you have to wait for the money into your account. The thing that gets me is the amount of money they take now and the fact they take it from the postage. How is that even legal? Not like the prices aren't set by couriers. I would be scored down if I started to charge extra on the postage because of ebays cut.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/11/2021 22:01

Ive been very suspicious in the past when people have claimed something has been damaged. The only thing you can do @ScottishMouse is to take clear photos of it before you post it.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/11/2021 22:01

Especially if its worth a lot. I have done exactly that.

AFingerofFudge · 08/11/2021 10:47

Morning all! I am fully sympathising with you @ScottishMouse as I have had the same thing happen to me. I sold a brand new Sweaty Betty sweatshirt a few months ago. It was a hassle getting the buyer to pay, and then they claimed the shoulders were out of line and it didn't look like the original photos Confused
Obviously ebay found in their favour, I had to refund and stomach the return postal costs too. When it arrived back the shoulders had been stretched out of shape (not by me) so now I can't sell it again unless I say it is faulty. Grr. I used to sell lots on eBay years ago when my kids were little but nowadays I dont often and that has reminded me why!

On that note, could I please be added to the Facebook group as I have a few nice things to sell Smile

Pheasantlysurprised · 08/11/2021 12:48

H! ladies, does anyone have or has tried the neat fit cashmere top that has been in stock long term? It is never pictured on a model, not even via image searches.
I would appreciate any info regarding sizing for that one!

Hope you are all enjoying your autumnal clothes:)

ScottishMouse · 08/11/2021 13:07

Well this is a bad sign. I was toying with ordering the herringbone jacket, and thought, I’m sure someone wrote a review of that in our threads. They did, it was me!! I had tried it on back in august. I remembered as soon as I read the post, but that is really a bad case of brain fog. Anyway, I have saved myself some cash as august me didn’t like it much.

Laska2Meryls · 08/11/2021 14:40

Oh poo , my ginger cord Gabis sz8 bought on ebay are definitely too small.😢
They fit but just not loose enough and definitely too short..
But lovely and look unworn...Ill post them on our FB page later . If anyone interested.

ScottishMouse · 08/11/2021 14:43

I’m sorry to hear you have also had eBay troubles @AFingerofFudge. It really is so annoying, isn’t it?
I have a few small items listed at the moment, but definitely won’t be selling any more there for the time being. The fees are ridiculous and it just feels like a bit of a risk. It’s frustrating as that is often how I fund new Toast purchases, I will just have to think of another way (or stop buying…ha ha ha!).

ScottishMouse · 08/11/2021 14:44

That’s a shame @Laska2Meryls. Hopefully someone will snap them up from you. Not me I’m afraid, I tried the cord Gabis recently and I am annoyingly between sizes in them even though the twill ones are a great fit.

Hi Pheasantly. I have two of these neat sweaters, one from last year and one from this season. Last year’s one is closer fitting but I suspect this is because it has been washed a few times. I haven’t yet washed my new one. I am 34ins bust, 28 ins waist and I got the small. The sizing tool recommended the xs which was quite close-fitting but not too tight, and looked nice. However I thought it might shrink a little in the wash so I went for the small to be on the safe side. I love these sweaters - they are so soft and light. I always wear them under my pinafore dress. They don’t work for me with jeans for some reason, maybe they are too narrow for my pear-shaped figure.
faustina · 08/11/2021 15:42

Laughing at your mistake @ScottishMouse - sounds like the kind of thing I would do! At least you got an answer to your question on this thread!

@AFingerofFudge - I sent you a message about the FB group earlier

@Laska2Meryls - how annoying! That's the downside of ebay - no returns, but hopefully they'll sell easily enough

HappyDays101010 · 08/11/2021 15:47

Can anyone link to the facebook page?

faustina · 08/11/2021 15:51

@HappyDays101010 - I've messaged it to you
