My Indian floral dhuggie has been cancelled.
Nice email telling me they only do this in " exceptional circumstances" Hmm

AmethystMoonShine · 01/12/2021 19:43

Oh no @TempleofZoom, so annoying…they did this to me at least three times earlier this year when it all went horribly wrong with Toast’s systems. I’ve ordered the Dhuggie too so maybe will get the same email?

billydilly · 01/12/2021 20:06

Same here. Ordered and paid for the Mila early Monday morning, I called Toast this morning to get despatch details and was told it was out of stock, despite taking payment. Not happy

FiddleFigs · 01/12/2021 20:38

@billydilly, what size are you after? I am planning on returning a 12 (I ordered 10 & 12). It’s a lovely dress.

billydilly · 01/12/2021 20:43

Ah, bless you, thanks. I'm after an 8 thanks to Toast's wacky sizing

ScottishMouse · 01/12/2021 20:45

@faustina, I think I am after something more practical than what Toast have to offer. I actually looked at the one you ordered but decided I really need something that will work in all weathers. Have you tried your again? How are the shoulders now?
If anyone has any tips, I would quite like a black/navy/grey down type coat, but it needs to be long rather than knee length, and something less outdoorsy and with some interesting details. Seems an impossible ask. I feel like I have tried all the brands at this stage.

Countmeout · 01/12/2021 20:46

Maybe will have to swerve the lace yoke jumper if it’s scratchy.

Really disappointing when they email to say something is out of stock. Maybe a few things will turn up again with returns. How long do we think this sale will last- will there be time for returns?

ScottishMouse · 01/12/2021 20:46

In the mean time I am eyeing up the Piu jacket, the dogtooth jacket, and both the yellow trench coats 🤣

SmaugMum · 01/12/2021 21:21

@ScottishMouse, have you checked out the down coat offerings in the Uniqlo +J range? I live in the South Pennines so we experience four seasons in one day and my long, hooded down coat from last year’s collection has served me so well. It isn’t waterproof, so on the days when the rain is tipping sideways, I swap it for my Community Clothing (men’s) hooded parka. I would highly recommend Community Clothing as it is a Made in Britain and ethical brand and aims to preserve jobs in traditional mills. As well as being a scarf person, I am a coat person, and instead of the coat of many colours, I have the wardrobe of many coats. I have a number of ‘posher’ woollen and cashmere coat, including an Edun Choi for JL Modern Rarity, which gets stopped in the street for compliments (the coat, not me), a Marks & Spencer Best of British Harris Tweed overcoat, plus traditional Gloverall duffle coats and duffle coats. The coat I am happiest with currently is my Jil Sander for Uniqlo.

@ScottishMouse

I've tracked down a size 10 at the welsh outlet store and they're sending it to me - was busy today so only tried on the 8 while it was getting dark and despite the fact that I'll have to pay to return the outlet coat, I think it's worth a try

I have a couple of suggestions for you (am sure you've already tried but you never know!)

this Kin coat (only one left in an 8!) looks quite interesting with the ripply quilting)

kin coat

a couple from Sweaty Betty - I particularly liked the reversible one, but they both look so warm and cozy:

cocoon puffer

.. and I don't know how you feel about Barbours? I find them really warm and practical - here's a Margaret Howell collab:

and there are some quite nice coats in this collaboration with the House of Hackney:

…should have said Gloverall duffle coats and duffle CAPES.

ScottishMouse · 01/12/2021 21:33

These are all great suggestions @faustina. Going to look at them in more detail shortly. I had seen the Sweaty Betty ones before, and like both, but thought they didn’t look special enough for the price. Maybe worth a look in store though.
Thank you so much for taking the time to send these on!

ScottishMouse · 01/12/2021 21:34

@SmaugMum, I don’t know Community Clothing. Going to take a look shortly. Thanks for the tip.
I did look at the Uniqlo +J options but wasn’t super excited by them. Will look at the down one again though on your recommendation.

agnesmartin · 02/12/2021 09:38

My Indian floral dhuggie has also been cancelled but only found out by contacting them. Really disappointing as I was really looking forward to snuggling up on the sofa in it!

JustforToast · 02/12/2021 09:52

I have a bad feeling about my green fan-print PJ style shirt. No sign of a dispatch note and I ordered it Monday morning

neveradullmoment99 · 02/12/2021 11:11

I am still awaiting a refund. Its now been 4 days. Not ridiculous but hoping we are not going back to the way it was.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/12/2021 11:12

I would contact them.

I think its unacceptable for them to take the money and then say its OOS.
They should not be taking it until dispatch.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/12/2021 11:13

It must be such a burdensome system doing it that way, having to issue loads of refunds esp during a sale.

Zeusrules · 02/12/2021 12:00

They've just confirmed the jumper I ordered on Monday is out of stock and that they will refund me. Only thought to contact them as a result of this threat and the rest of my order arriving today. Roll on the JL sale.

Saurus72 · 02/12/2021 13:10

Boo to all the cancelled orders 😒. I ordered 2 things, and only the dress was delivered (though payment for both items was taken). I had to contact them to get a returns label for it and asked about the missing item - then later that day I got an email and refund. Quite sad, it was the Indian print robe which looked really beautiful. Oh well, £210 unspent.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 02/12/2021 13:35

Gutted - bought a lovely skirt on eBay , my size, but not the usual generous Toast sizing, and the fixed waistband and full skirt really doesn’t suit me. I was so looking forward to wearing it this weekend Sad.
I think my only option is to sell it, I’ve not done this with something I’ve bought on eBay before - is there any etiquette? Wait a week? Admit to my mistake? Sooo disappointing.

TheChattyRat · 02/12/2021 13:38

I don't think there is any etiquette (apart from offering it here first Grin)
I often resell straightaway if it doesn't work for me.

faustina · 02/12/2021 13:39

oh that pretty robe - what a shame!

If anyone really really wanted something don't forget you could try calling the outlet shop. I think they have two - one in Wales one in Kilver Court.

They will send it to you by post so it's not free, and returns aren't free either, but the price is the same as in the archive sale.

faustina · 02/12/2021 13:44

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - some places will accept a return - like if it's a small business or something ? But unless it differs from the description you'll have to pay to return. Ordinary sellers don't usually accept returns - you could try asking? Probably not worth it though. Why not mention what it is on here as Chattyrat suggests!
