know what you mean about hearing assistants talk (disparagingly) about customers. Funnily enough, this is something I notice in charity shops, in particular (I LOVE charity shops but I won’t frequent those where I’ve heard staff/volunteers make personal comments about any customer. It’s so unprofessional and makes me cringe

Not disparaging.
Stuff like " this one spends a lot"
Or even worse "She mumble mumble"
Really annoying.

ilovecherries · 20/11/2021 16:10

I was cut out of a red jumpsuit in JL about three years ago. Fortunately it was the personal stylist who had put me in it and it went ON fine. I was all set to buy it. She (and the colleague she got to help) were really sweet but I was traumatised for weeks.

I had a good charity shop find yesterday when I was dropping some stuff off. Cos trench coat, new with tags. £15 which I know lots of people would think was a lot in a charity shop but I’d have paid that on eBay and not even been able to try it on. It’s really nice.

And another one, it’s clearly a global conspiracy…clothes as weapons of mass obstruction. 😉
faustina · 20/11/2021 16:30

@Saurus72 - do you mean the JL in Cambridge?? I was only there last weekend I think - what a disaster!!!!!! I wonder if they'll stop stocking it online too

@Laska2Meryls - they look fabulous on you, and the colour is great

part of my Uniqlo plus J order has arrived but not all of it - I'm worrying about the rest

faustina · 20/11/2021 16:33

@TempleofZoom - that is really shit and very off-putting about hearing the staff talking about the customers

TempleofZoom · 20/11/2021 16:41

Yes
Also last time I asked if they had a nightie in my size one of them said " just like that, you have decided you want to buy it" in a really sharp tone.

Ummm yes Confused

I think they like to feel like they are convincing/ selling it to you.
Which I hate, Im perfectly capable of deciding whether something suits me or not!

applecatchers36 · 20/11/2021 16:44

Love the trousers Laska look great with the boots too..

The staff in Islington Toast are really nice and helpful. The manager is a more mature woman and she always looks very chic & stylish.

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 17:00

Darn.. Uniqlo Jill sander down vest arrived and its huge!! So disappointed , its really lovely too, but of course all out of stock now.. And its ruddy Hermes returns only and we dont have a parcel shop anywhere here. Angry .. ill have to wait to send it until I am on the mainland on Wednesday now

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 17:02

What is Notting Hill shop like? .. I am up that way so could take a trip into town this week .. No Toast shops anywhere near me either! Nearest I think is Bath or Brighton

faustina · 20/11/2021 17:05

@Laska2Meryls - which size did you get?

faustina · 20/11/2021 17:06

@TempleofZoom - most of the people who work at my local Toast are really nice, but it's such a small shop they can't really help but be in your face a bit.

ScottishMouse · 20/11/2021 17:18

The staff at my local Toast are also mostly very helpful and lovely. But I do sometimes wish I could have a quiet shopping experience there where I could mooch without having to engage in chat.

ScottishMouse · 20/11/2021 17:18

@Laska2Meryls, those trousers look great. Love a random John Lewis Toast bargain.

ScottishMouse · 20/11/2021 17:22

Still swithering over the lovely quilted jacket. My other half said I looked like a child who had borrowed my mother’s clothes, but he isn’t know for his sartorial wisdom, so I will ignore that opinion.

ScottishMouse · 20/11/2021 17:24

Does anyone here happen to have the yellow quilted jacket in a size small? I’d love to know how it measures in comparison to the medium. Maybe if it is not much smaller, I can put finding a small out of my mind, and just keep the medium.
I noticed that one of the international Toast stockists had it (I was looking for photos on Instagram), but with import duties etc, I’d end up paying nearly £100 more for it, so that’s not happening.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/11/2021 18:09

So picked up the kin indigo dungarees. Sweet shape.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/11/2021 18:10

Love the wide leg. Think I may keep

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 18:23

Fabulous Never keepkeepkeep. and send back the Toast one

faustina · 20/11/2021 18:24

very nice @neveradullmoment99. Can I ask how tall you are?

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 18:26
@Laska2Meryls - which size did you get?
Faustina it wont do for you sorry ( unless you need a new duvet) , you'd get absolutely lost .. Its the XL. I gambled wrongly on the sizes being small cut .. but even fo rmy norks its far too big and the bottom half is like a sail !
I will keep a look out for a return in M but I am sure that wont happen .. Sad it is so fab ..

neveradullmoment99 · 20/11/2021 18:35

@faustina

very nice *@neveradullmoment99*. Can I ask how tall you are?
I am 5ft 6 inches
neveradullmoment99 · 20/11/2021 18:36

@Laska2Meryls

Fabulous Never keepkeepkeep. and send back the Toast one
Exactly what I will do. The kin one is still pricey but half the price of the Toast jumpsuit.
neveradullmoment99 · 20/11/2021 18:41

Some new things on Toast btw:

www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/collage-print-gathered-waist-dress-dark-claret

www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/cord-pinafore-dress-earth

Not much new. Just those two things. They were probably delayed items.

faustina · 20/11/2021 18:46

@Laska2Meryls - haha - ok thanks. Yes, the coats are big, but oddly, the knitwear is quite small!!! You know, you can also post returns to Uniqlo via the post office, but you have to pay. It's a 9 mile drive to my local Hermes place too - mind you, since you have to pay to return anyway, you might as well post at the post office

 • or you could ebay it? If it's sold out you can easily get your money back and more. I'm thinking of ebaying my jumpers if I decide not to keep. I need to try them on once more in the proper daylight first

@neveradullmoment99 - they're the perfect length on you! Kin can be hit and miss, but the hits are excellent
