Jumpsuit. Excuse smudge mirror

I think the jumpsuit looks lovely on you @neveradullmoment99. Would a size up work if you think it’s too snug/tricky to get on and off? Not that it looks too small from the photo.

SmaugMum · 19/11/2021 17:44

@ScottishMouse, genuinely, that looks really good on you - I definitely don’t think it’s too large at all. I love your whole outfit and I note that you are a scarf woman, too.

I’m possibly in the minority here but I hate things that ‘just’ fit, I like to be able to feel comfortable and move properly in my clothes, and also be able to layer underneath. I particularly like long sleeves, especially in the winter, as there’s no need for pesky gloves.

think I’ve absorbed my tight-arse parents’ of always buying clothes with plenty of ‘growing room’ (and I’m truly not mentally scarred by the memory of turning up to secondary school at 11 wearing an age 16 blazer! 😅)

ScottishMouse · 19/11/2021 17:47

Thanks @SmaugMum, I am definitely still considering keeping it.
Yes, a scarf woman all year round. Cotton neckerchiefs in the summer and a massive wool scarf in the winter. It also helps to hide my old neck as I cut all my hair off a few months ago and it feels very exposed now!
I also like to be able to move in my clothes, but I sometimes fear that I buy a size too big just to be comfy, and end up looking even bigger than I am.

faustina · 19/11/2021 18:01

@neveradullmoment99 - it certainly doesn't look too small. Maybe keep and order the next size up to compare? Also, thank you for having a smudgy mirror - it makes me feel less bad about mine!

SmaugMum · 19/11/2021 19:20

@neveradullmoment99, that jumpsuit looks brilliant on you - are those the Fracap hiking boots you’re wearing?

TempleofZoom · 19/11/2021 19:29

@ScottishMouse

It is *@neveradullmoment99*! I keep trying it on in the hope it doesn’t look as massive as I think. Here are some pics so you can all tell me what you think. I do like oversized, and I do like the wide sleeves for fitting thick jumpers under, but I am finding it to look quite bulky on the arms, especially from the back as a couple of online reviews say.
Personally I would want that style of jacket to look neat and I dont like the bulging of the excess fabric. I would return and hope for a return in a smaller size.

Oh yes, my mum was the same. By the time anything actually fitted me it was about 5 years old. I got a new Barathea blazer for high school, and was still wearing it six years later. At which point my brother had to wear it, despite all his protestations that it buttoned the wrong way. He’s still bitter about that 50 years on!

They are actually DM church boots which I am living in. Got them for my birthday. They are fab!

Thank you all so much for all the positive comments about the jumpsuit Star

Just had a very long catch up with the thread and am laughing as I am wearing the black denim jumpsuit 😂. I love it. Has been well worn already over the last month since buying. However last time I wore it the zip material pull came off - which was a challenge - was so glad I was at home and daughter could unzip me!

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 12:47

Here are the Bargain sale Toast wide trousers from JL ( still on Toast website for 175!) .. I dont usually wear brown but I like these !

@Laska2Meryls- they are lovely! Really suit you.

Saurus72 · 20/11/2021 13:41

@Laska2Meryls lovely trousers, all the better for being bargainous! I went to Cambridge today to try on the black Luna print dress on but they didn’t have it in the shop. So then I went to JL only to find they don’t stock Toast any more! The same thing happened in Milton Keynes a while ago - not sure if they are being destocked in all JL stores. Either way, quite annoying but saved me some money I guess.

SmaugMum · 20/11/2021 13:42

@Laska2Meryls, I hear you on the brown thing, but I too would make an exception for those trousers. I have the wool/cashmere jumper (Mira) in that shade of pear. You look lovely!

@Popplebop, what a nightmare! Many years ago, I got stuck in a coat while trying it on in a smart boutique in Rome. I was a panicking and sweaty mess (it was a winter-weight puffer coat and the shop was warm). The assistant had to resort to cutting it off me.

Imagine if you’d been alone and desperate for the loo! 😱

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 13:59

Saurus JL in Southampton dont stock Toast any longer either Sad..

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 14:16

The trousers are definitely worth £52.50 but certainly not £175! They are the same fabric as the cotton linen Alix trousers.. I cannot see how they justify the price..
I think that they are getting more expensive ..

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 14:17

Smaug God what a nightmare...real wanting a hole to open up territory . Did they make you pay ?

NoCureForLove · 20/11/2021 14:34

My friend had to be cut out of a Roland Mouret in Liberty 20 years ago. She says she can still hardly bear to think about it...SmileShock

NoCureForLove · 20/11/2021 14:34

Dress. A Roland Mouret dress...

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 14:51

The soft black Gabis have arrived , the colour is fine (no purple brown tint ) , but they are much bigger than my other ones in the same size ..
and tbh looking at them I am not sure that they are different enough to other trousers I already have ...I think they will go back

TempleofZoom · 20/11/2021 14:57

Toast has gone from my local JL also which is a pain as C&C was so useful.
Also the assistants in my local toast talk about customers within earshot which really puts me off Confused

God no, I was hyperventilating and perspiring so much, I think they were worried I’d drop dead on the spot and that wouldn’t be good for business!

Now that’s much more rock-n-roll than my boring puffer coat story. That’s the sort of story you could happily pass down to your kids to demonstrate that you’d once been cool enough to wear such a beauteous dress.

I know what you mean about hearing assistants talk (disparagingly) about customers. Funnily enough, this is something I notice in charity shops, in particular (I LOVE charity shops but I won’t frequent those where I’ve heard staff/volunteers make personal comments about any customer. It’s so unprofessional and makes me cringe.
