@faustina

very nice *@neveradullmoment99*. Can I ask how tall you are?
Seconded!
ToastCosILoveIt · 20/11/2021 19:02

@neveradullmoment99, those dungarees look good on you, I am very tempted despite having and loving the black denim jumpsuit from Toast. Did you have to size down? The one review on JL suggests you do.

SmaugMum · 20/11/2021 19:12

@Laska2Meryls, fret not, there will be lots of returns action on the Uniqlo website over the next couple of weeks. My volume vest also arrived, and I love it, but since it is the same shape, cut, style and colour as last year’s long coat (but minus the length, hood and arms, if that makes sense?), it was a no-brainer. The short puffer coat, on the other hand, is a no-goer; it’s too shiny, and not in a good way, plus ridiculously oversized ie it could easily accommodate my entire family in an embrace of lovely down softness. I do love the elongated funnel neck as I have a weirdly long neck, but the rest of it was just plain wrong.

Well they are rigid denim and no stretch. I am a 12-14, but more of a 14 probably and ordered the 12. I would say size down by one?
They are similar in shape to the jumpsuit. Maybe slightly more wide leg. They are also not especially long in the braces part as usually dungarees have super long braces [ I have a few pairs] Anway, you could try. I think they are not hugely generous like other kin things especially as there is no give.

wuld you mind telling me what size you got Smaug and what size do you take in Toast tops please.. PM me if you'd prefer.. Thanks... it will help me if I am able to reorder xx

ToastCosILoveIt · 20/11/2021 20:00

Thanks @neveradullmoment99, really helpful. I am order a 10 and a 12 as returns are easy via my local Waitrose and refunds are quick.

Saurus72 · 20/11/2021 20:01

@faustina yes Cambridge JL. I was really surprised, I went about a month ago and there was a huge amount of stock and a really good range of items, which is useful as you say, the Toast shop is tiny. I asked about the Luna dress and the assistant said because they are small, they don’t get sent everything. A real shame.

SmaugMum · 20/11/2021 20:11

@Laska2Meryls, I’m 5’ 8.5, a true size 10-12 and an inverted triangle shape with fairly broad shoulders and a 32DD bust. I tend to order a 10 in Toast, or a medium in t-shirts. I prefer a looser silhouette than most people, I think. I ordered the size M in the volume vest and I must admit, I was surprised by how much roomier it was than last year’s size M coat I wear constantly. The S would do, no doubt, but I don’t think I’d be able to wear my super-chunky and wide Toast knits underneath.

Laska2Meryls · 20/11/2021 20:24

Thanks Smaug .. I am an inverted triangle also , but bigger than you 36E bust ..apple but slim hips .. It was the hips that were so very huge on me , but I think from what you say the M may well do ..

AFingerofFudge · 20/11/2021 23:00

JL in Cheltenham have also stopped selling Toast. I was kind of surprised they stocked it at all given there's also a Toast shop a few minutes walk away, but I'm still disappointed! It was nice to try things on with other brands. And there are no shop assistants in our JL heavy breathing the other side of the curtain!

faustina · 21/11/2021 07:47

@AFingerofFudge - same in Cambridge - there's a Toast up the road and round the corner, but it's often easier to browse in JL if you're there anyway etc, and also less of a 'thing'. I think also the Toast shops no longer stock sales items - that's all online

Laska2Meryls · 21/11/2021 08:26

Well another Uniqlo vest in M was on the site this morning so I ordered .. picking up in store as I will be near one later this week.. fingers crossed that it fits !. I am bigger than you Smaug being 36D on top but going by the size of the one I had I am hopeful..

They have not sold Toast stuff in our Jlewis for a long, long time now in Glasgow. I don't think it sold at all well in real life.

Fab! Love to see it on you. Noticed a woman in a car park wearing a gilet when I was food shopping. She looked fab in it. The sad thing here is it just rains too much so I've had a fair few over the years and never worn them. On days where it was dry and cold, I was often wearing something that doesn't match with the gilet. Same with ponchos/ capes etc.

There’s a feature about Toast in The Sunday Times Style magazine - their new CEO is very good at PR

Slightly more complimentary than gulag librarian then.

@ilovecherries indeed! I notice Toast clothes feature a lot in newspaper fashion pages - not sure about magazines, I haven’t read any for years. There’s nothing new in this feature but they are very definitely reinforcing the points they’ve made before about fewer collections and fewer reductions in the sale. If their prices get much toppier it will be difficult to justify buying as much, lots of the dresses are close to £200! It does help me buy less overall I guess Hmm

ilovecherries · 21/11/2021 13:43

I’m down to about £9 per wear for the denim jerkin. After all the dithering about keeping it I do love it, and will probably keep it forever as long as I remember to frisk my DD every time she leaves the house, as she has her eye on it too. Wearing with the bluette crinkle culottes and a cashmere roll neck from M&S via eBay. I did have black brogues on (for striding!) while I was out.

@ilovecherries, looking good! Your post reminded me to remind anyone interested that BrandAlley currently has selected Cheaney brogues (as featured on Toast) at up to 60 per cent off. I love my Marianne shoes (lace up brogues with tassels), which I think we’re on Toast a couple of years ago?
faustina · 21/11/2021 16:23

@ilovecherries - I think you've nailed that jerkin by wearing it with similar colours, so it doesn't take over the rest of the outfit, but it still looks interesting - if that makes sense!

NoCureForLove · 21/11/2021 17:39

Agreed Faustina. That's the best jerkin combo I've seen to date...

ilovecherries · 22/11/2021 00:06

Thank you all for your lovely comments. At the risk of sounding extremely poncey, that waistcoat feels like one of those elusive ‘pieces’ that elevates everything. I was quite horrified at myself for spending so much on such a ‘small’ item and had to remind myself that the aim wasn’t to buy clothes by the yard but rather to buy beautiful things I loved and wouldn’t end up in landfill next year. It makes me happy just to put it on. Oddly I expected the red one to have an even greater impact because of the colour but I just couldn’t get into it at all.

Hi Toast fans, sorry to barge in on your thread! I was wondering if anyone has the wool gabi trousers, and if so, is the sizing the same as normal ones? I love the cotton Gabi ones, but they run really big.

Also does anyone have a discount code? Grin
