Oh goodness @ilovecherries me too. Thanks for that suggestion.

neveradullmoment99 · 18/11/2021 16:16

@ilovecherries

Hmm. What do you think? Does it make me look vast? It’s a small. It was bought for the (now not going to happen) winter ski holiday in Austria I was daft enough to think was a possibility 6 months ago. So given it’s not going to happen, probably don’t need the apres ski jumper either! Trying to decide whether to return it now.
I have it too! It is fab on you :)

She has lovely clothes.
neveradullmoment99 · 18/11/2021 16:17

@faustina

If it's any consolation (and it probably isn't!) - this winter is supposed to be very cold! And what with the massive price rise in heating costs we could all end up wearing ALL the Toast jumpers one on top of the other, roasting turnips on small improvised fires in our gardens. Now I've written it down, that does sound very much like a photo in the Toast catalogue...
ha ha ha ha.....Yes it does!
faustina · 18/11/2021 16:36

@ilovecherries - I think it's wearsitatkat who has the loveliest Margaret Howell coat - I'm very jealous!

Laska2Meryls · 18/11/2021 17:00

Faustina We'll need some tasteful 'maker' made paper fairly lights on the old tractor and an Artisan wicker trug of mushrooms and new-laid eggs . A hand thrown jug of country wine and handle-less pottery mug.. And possibly a well-brushed Jacobs sheep in the background munching on organic hay..

Laska2Meryls · 18/11/2021 17:06

My sale bargain cotton linen wide leg trousers have arrived..(the £175 ones reduced to £59 in JL) Sadly I think that they are what we seasoned campers know as ' Cowpat brown' , but I cant see too well in this light.. They fit ,which is goof for Toast waistbands , are loose everywhere else but not in a bad way , but ill have to wait until the weekend to try them on properly with other stuff in daylight and decide..

Laska2Meryls · 18/11/2021 17:21

I am putting this on my Christmas list ❤️.... (Hoping Santa does exist ..)

Reporting on the cord dart trousers (and some other things too)…

  • Cord dart trousers are lovely but way too voluminous for me. The 8 wouldn’t fasten at the waist, the 10 was plenty big on the waist, but huge everywhere else. I would say the fixed waist is not quite as small as other Toast trousers and skirts (I have had to try a 12 before in many).
  • Soft black Gabis are a bit disappointing colour wise. I knew it would be more of a grey than a black, but they have an almost purplish brown tone to my eyes, and I don’t love that. Was hoping for more of a dark steel grey. They might have to go back.
  • Poplin raglan sleeve dress is also going back. It swamps me at 5’1”. Looks ok over a dress as a sort of coat, but the fabric is so light I’m not sure what kind of weather would necessitate it as a layer like that.
  • Indigo wool easy jacket, I reordered in a smaller size as had tried before but it was too big everywhere. Fabric is beautiful, but it is a very swingy shape which I always feel I am a bit busty for. But maybe it works in a substantial jacket. I need to try it again tomorrow and see how I feel then. For that price it needs to be perfect, and I’m not sure it is. It also needs to be worn closed as there is too much fabric when it is open. But the pockets are great and I love their jaunty angle, and it is plenty big enough on the arms to fit plenty of layers underneath (often an issue for me).
I also ordered the quilted jacket from much earlier in the season (the yellow one), but they only had a medium and I probably need a small. It was sent separately and is due to arrive tomorrow, so I’ll report back on that then.
faustina · 18/11/2021 18:14

I had the soft black gabis @ScottishMouse and that's exactly why I ebayed them quite some time ago - the colour is sort of underwhelming!

Reporting in too Smile

Ordered the black denim square neck jumpsuit that seems v loved. It doesn't look good on me. Bottom half flattering, neckind not - too severe? - and not a fan of the fabric.

New blue velvet side button trousers are great. Debating whether great enough to overcome dry clean only issue...

neveradullmoment99 · 18/11/2021 18:27

Well it is a while since I posted what I have ordered, so here goes.
The snowflake jumper [ well the one that is navy with a snowflake print and that Ilovecherries is wearing] Really nice, if not a bit scratchy. Ordered a small and its fine.
Absolutely adore the alpaca jumper in navy [ Got that for my birthday] with the fluro icelanding print. Its utterly fabulous and have worn it quite a few times already.
Also ordered the Ashley jeans and I am a convert. With my fat tum, I had to order a 14 in these and they fit perfectly. They are a little in between crops and full length for me but I really love them. I love them so much, ordered them in the black for work. They are a wide leg shape but not quite straight and not as cropped as the Annie side button.

neveradullmoment99 · 18/11/2021 18:27

Icelandic not icelanding!

Ive just ordered it 'to try' as it came back in stock in a 12 but tbh, hoping I secretly hate it so I can scratch that itch and then return.
neveradullmoment99 · 18/11/2021 18:29

For the price, it will need to be perfect.

neveradullmoment99 · 18/11/2021 18:30

It is also a ridiculous price..but fomo got the better of me.

Laska2Meryls · 18/11/2021 18:51

Ah.... sounds like I might also be returning the soft black Gabis then ...

Laska2Meryls · 18/11/2021 18:58

The barganious Kin sweatshirt arrived but sadly too fitted on me in the S. I really need a M for a bit of bagginess which the style calls for .. Kin can be just as annoying as Toast size-wise! I have two other tops of theirs which are really oversized and I had to have XS! Angry

SmaugMum · 18/11/2021 19:05

@faustina @Laska2Meryls @ToastCosILoveIt, well, the Uniqlo/+J virtual bunfight I was predicting at 7am today just didn’t happen. I have to be up at 6.15am to get my elder DD out on the school bus in time, so I twiddled my fingers till 6.55am, logged on and, bingo, everything was available.

Snap, Laska, I ordered the navy volume vest, which I’ve had my eye on since clocking it in a magazine. I absolutely love last year’s long puffer volume coat, also in navy, as I think the proportions, the silhouette and the voluminous hood really work well with my Toast old faithfuls, without looking too ‘school mum’, even though I am a school mum! I can’t wait for the vest as I think it will work well over all my Toast fair isle sweaters, plus add an extra season of wearability to some of my favourite dresses.

I did also order the short volume puffer coat, again in navy, as I love it in the marketing images, however, it may not be a keeper. I did think it would be a good beach coat for our annual August trips to Pembrokeshire and Northumberland - honestly, it’s not as bonkers as it sounds as I spend hours stood on the water’s edge, in all weathers, frantically scanning the melée of surfers to keep sight of my daredevil five-year-old on her body board. We will see…

Oh, and for the love of god, will someone please put that raspberry dress out of its boomerang misery on the JL site?!

SmaugMum · 18/11/2021 19:13

@NoCureForLove, this is a good article about washing velvet…

Grin Agreed!
iguanadonna · 18/11/2021 19:38

Reporting in.

I ordered 4 things to try. Sadly they're all going back.

18/xl. 172cm. Very hourglass.

Organic Cotton Cord Tapered Trousers | Oil
These are the smaller waisted variety of trouser, which I often like. The Felix jeans for example are good on me. But these were totally the wrong shape, just bulgy and strange over tummy and hips. Gorgeous fabric, colour. Long enough! If right shape, nice trews.

Fair Isle Shetland Wool Sweater | Fern Green Multi
This was too wide for its length on me. Not so much boxy as rectangular. Also drop sleeves often suit me, but these made me look like a wrestler. I like the fabric and pattern, though.

Alpaca Yoke Sweater | Green Multi
This is the softest, most lightweight adorable knit. Much more true to size than this eu.toa.st/collections/womens-knitwear/products/jacquard-wool-easy-sweater-navy-multi, which comes up long and big, or this eu.toa.st/collections/womens-knitwear/products/stripe-lace-yoke-sweater-green-multi, which comes up small and short. In length it's between the two, nearer the short. However, the pattern band is over the boobies and so exaggerates them, which is the last thing I need. The stripe lace yoke is much more flattering, as well as beautiful. I'm wearing that a lot. Also wearing the jacquard a lot. The alpaca will go back. Oh, also, the bright green is not a good colour for me. I hope they make other jumpers in this wool, because amazing wool.

Cotton Cashmere Dress | Ecru/Black
I initially rather liked this and thought I'd keep it, but the teenager said no and on reflection I agreed with him. It's the same cut as the blue crinkle cotton dress which looks great on me, but somehow it doesn't work so well in this fabric. It's perfectly nice fabric, though as people said rather thin. But somehow uninspiring. And the cut much less flattering in this. And at these prices, clothes do have to sing.

iguanadonna · 18/11/2021 19:45

Scarves etc - I've been meaning to mention a designer I like. She's based in Orkney. I have two scarves bought since a trip there. Amazing quality and the one I got a few years ago still looks like new.
