I am/ have all of that in my life .. and now it seems crap clothes taste too 😂😂😂😂

neveradullmoment99 · 14/11/2021 18:42

Well damn it, I like seasalt too so to hell with them!
They made me feel bad about liking that brand but tbh, if you are selective, like Toast, things can look good.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/11/2021 18:44

Some lovely jumpers and cardigans to be had.. I have ordered a green seasalt one and it looks fab! Also ordered retro white stuff trainers. White stuff slated too [ Although they used to be great, not really now - the odd nice thing]

I think it's quite funny to dismiss this thread as a marketing ploy for Toast - considering what we did to that actual Toast person who popped their head round the door a few threads back, worst marketing ploy ever I'd say!

Yes we are fairly critical of Toast on here. Wierdest thing is that the Op of the other thread has never seen a Toast garment so they, not us, have been taken in by the marketing- strange poses, woolly socks, mushrooms in pockets Grin

Most of my Toast garments are pretty nondescript.
Denim dresses, trousers and culottes with a few dresses.
I dont stand hunched over glaring whilst balancing a canvas on my head so perhaps thats where Im going wrong Wink

Stoic123 · 14/11/2021 19:21

How can you not love a pocket mushroom?

I did enjoy a comment made on another thread - a poster referred to the Toast look as 'Gulag Librarian'. I just thought "yep, that's exactly the look I want".

On a nicer note- just received the Donegal Easy Sweater in Dahlia (not so gulag). It is a joy (would have preferred a small but will live with the medium because it is so gorgeous and warm).

Laska2Meryls · 14/11/2021 19:28

ahem Templeofzoom. Ive told you previously about this. Pull your fairisle socks up right now and get baking some splet bread whilst throwing a pot or ill have to take you off the free sample list

Laska2Meryls · 14/11/2021 19:29

'Gulag Librarian' 😂😂😂

Glares at Laska whilst climbing a ladder, manhandling a tent. Ok- hoicks up socks.

I do love a fairisle sock just not with sandals!

HappyDays101010 · 14/11/2021 19:37

I too would see Gulag Librarian as a complement Grin

Laska2Meryls · 14/11/2021 19:54

Stoic I really love that Dhalia jumper .. >> eyes last years sale dates.....>>

Laska2Meryls · 14/11/2021 19:58

Dahlia

Oh, and Spelt bread ... I don't want to come over as illiterate as well as under Cult influence.. (its got to be something to do with that mushroom , I reckon....)

(I'm a rotten typist)

applecatchers36 · 14/11/2021 21:09

The gulag Librarian comment made me laugh as it reminded me of my Dad's comment about my Toast jumpsuit that made me a friend of Chairman Mao?! But then Utilitarian boiler suits etc are pretty high fashion ATM so maybe Dad's right 😂

I love that Toast is an acquired taste and I thought that the demographic was quite diverse and that's what has been so great about the thread. We are all very different and share this taste for Toast clothes that unites us.

SmaugMum · 15/11/2021 00:46

Gulag librarian…now the contrarian in me would read that as the ultimate compliment!

missmoon · 15/11/2021 07:24

@Stoic123 I have been eyeing up the Donegal Easy Sweater. Is the fabric quite soft, or more like some of their rougher wool knits? Thank you!

Stoic123 · 15/11/2021 08:04

@missmoon

It's softer than the Shetland Fair Isle which I left on the hanger because of texture but not soft like cashmere/merino.

I'd need to wear something underneath but wouldn't worry about odd bits of bare skin (collar lower/sleeeves shorter than jumper) being irritated by contact. It's towards the coarser side in terms of yarn but quite a lofty weave so not as dense/stiff as some can be.

Hope I've not just confused you!

missmoon · 15/11/2021 08:12

Thank you, yes, that helps!

ilovecherries · 15/11/2021 12:07

OOTD from a woman of a certain age and size who has given up and is auditioning for the Gulag.

You look fab in that Cherries..

Saurus72 · 15/11/2021 12:37

@ilovecherries I don’t think they let you into the gulag if you don’t have a pocket mushroom tbh 🙄🤗

(goes to rummage in the bridge for a mushroom)

ilovecherries · 15/11/2021 12:49

Fridge! Although under the bridge might yield something more interesting than a somewhat tired chestnut mushroom.

Looks great ilovecherries. Just received Alix trousers. What a let down. Far too short. I am 5foot 1. Maybe I got a rogue pair but I have never had trousers too short before.

faustina · 15/11/2021 13:07

@ilovecherries - gulag librarians around the world would be green with envy at how beautifully you've nailed the look

@ElizabethBennetismybestfriend - that sounds like a rogue pair! Which ones were they? I'm 5'4 and I roll mine once (twice with the cotton linen ones)

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 15/11/2021 13:23

They are the Alix wool cotton trousers. I was really looking forward to wearing them. Back to the drawing board.
