So interesting, @JunieSpoony. You should definitely go into dermatology! Interesting about the décolletage too, I have the same issue there even though it hasn’t had that much sun exposure.

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName good question about the routine. Actually I’d love to hear people’s routines.

Mine (evening)
Nivea eye make up remover/micellar water
Avene rougeur milk cleanser
Ren AHA toner (looking for one I like better)
Ivermectin (I think this is Soolantra in the U.K.)
Hyaluronic acid serum and caffeine eye cream
Moisturizer (currently love IT soothing green cream, forget the name but if I switch to a new tab my post will vanish...)
Sometimes follow up with aloe Vera on top.

From that Inkey list that Slattern posted it sounds like I should do the ivermectin after the serum and eye cream.

JunieSpoony · 28/10/2021 01:30

Blush I atted myself instead of @Justilou1 there!

Justilou1 · 28/10/2021 01:41

@JunieSpoony - Poor old décolleté is very sensitive as it is a very thin layer of skin without much underlying padding, over bone. We notoriously forgot to put sunscreen on that area too, and it copped a belting. I also suspect that the weight and movement of our chesticles (and monthly hormonal fluctuations, growth during pregnancies and breastfeeding, etc…) also contributes to the vascular changes there too.

NotMyCat · 28/10/2021 01:47

Routine

Am
Boots botanics all bright cleanser (I must have used 20 bottles of this!)
Vitamin C or elemental herbology cell nourish serum
Moisturiser - using stuff up but I like alpha h essential hydration
Spf - fenty or the garnier cheap one!

Pm (5 days a week)
Cleanser - usually a balm
Mother dirt moisturiser
Skin and me prescription

Or (twice a week)
Cleanser
Deviant exfoliating liquid
Murad revitalixir
Moisturiser or oil

Body wise
Soap for my base clean, on a salux cloth
Body scrub every 2/3 days (I like tree hut ones)
Moisturising shower gel or oil (bioderma shower oil) and I like byre/dove/maui shower gel
Whatever body cream I can find on my feet
Caudalie hand cream

NotMyCat · 28/10/2021 01:48

Oh I forgot verso eye serum!
I also LOVE kikumassamune (I can't spell it) lotion. It stinks like foam banana sake and I have no idea what it actually does but if my skin hates me, I just put it on and life is fine again Grin

Justilou1 · 28/10/2021 01:52

@JunieSpoony - yours sounds pretty good for someone trying to sort out rosacea. I have to admit that I would prefer a super-gentle foaming cleanser to remove the Micellar water. I don’t think that cream cleansers wash completely off.

My am routine is:
Curel foaming cleanser
Hada Labo HA Lotion (currently Vitamin C, but going back to Whitening soon)
Spot treating some brownish discoloration with Melano CC Premium Concentrate Serum. (Also works wonders on zits and post-inflammatory marks left behind.)
Canmake Mermaid Gel Sunscreen.

PM is:
Oil Cleanser, (currently Purito Made From Green, but favourite is Muji because it’s a lovely formula, comes in a giant bottle and is very cheap.)
Same routine as morning + tretinoin on top of lotion. (The serum has a dry oil texture, so I put that on top)
Currently using Melano CC Vitamin C gel creme at night. It’s okay. Still prefer the brightening effect from the Hada Labo Shirojyun (whitening) one. Has virtually identical texture, though. When I’m nearly done with the lotion, I will order both the lotion and creme and whatever is left of the vitamin c cream will be used as body lotion because it smells delicious and summery.

Justilou1 · 28/10/2021 01:56

@NotMyCat - the banana sake sounds very interesting! (Shall Google!) I’m not sure I could get past the smell though. Was force-fed bananas in custard by my grandmother when I was a kid (attempt to fatten me up - how ironic given that I spent most of my adult life trying to lose weight!) I can’t handle anything banana these days. (Or custard!) 🤮

JunieSpoony · 28/10/2021 03:14

I do love seeing what other people do.

Interesting about the cream cleanser. I’ve not long been using it and chose it because my skin seemed so dehydrated, but it’s been doing much better so I might switch back. I will definitely be incorporating the Hada Labo soon!

Justilou1 · 28/10/2021 03:22

@JunieSpoony - if it works better, don’t change it!!! I’m an even bigger fan of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!”

Experiment627 · 28/10/2021 05:57

@Justilou1 I certainly appreciate you sharing your learnings with us. In terms of what to do - follow your heart/passion!

I am going to re-try the Tranaxemic Acid again! Especially as my upper boobage area does get red and does have sun damage.

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName I often switch up the products I am using in my routine but here are the steps I typically follow:

AM:
Cleanse
Serum (hydrating/balancing)
Eye cream
Moisturiser
SPF (if not in day cream)

PM:
Cleanse
Some form of exfoliating acid
Serum
Eye cream
Moisturiser

Sometimes I will supplement the above with an oil.

I am also trying out the red The Ordinary peel once a week to see if it makes any difference & I usually apply a mask once a week too (although supplies have dwindled in anticipation of the advents - I have two this year so start on Monday!!!!!)

OP posts:
Justilou1 · 28/10/2021 07:52

Is that the gory-looking red BHA peel @Experiment627 It’s a bloody brilliant formulation when used correctly, but because so many idiots burnt their faces off by doing stupid things like sleeping in it, our Nanny State govt has banned it. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

WellTidy · 28/10/2021 08:13

This is my routine (in the spirit of sharing!):

AM-
Estée Lauder foaming cleanser
Every couple of days - Pixi glycolic toner (I’ve only just reintroduced this after a massive flare up, cause unknown, but my skin seems to be responding well)
Estée Lauder idealist skin perfecting lotion
Eye cream (any, but I’ve liked Occitane lately and am just about to start Filorga)
Estée Lauder day wear moisturiser

PM-
Garnier micellar water to remove make up
Same Estée Lauder cleanser
Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum (HA based, I think)
Eye cream
Estée Lauder moisturising balm (it begins with an ‘R’, possibly Resilience)

I’ve used so many products in the past and created skin problems for myself. I am back to my trusted EL now and it is working well for me. But the temptation to branch out is huuuuuge.

WellTidy · 28/10/2021 08:14

Oh and every week or so I use a mask. I absolutely love all of the Garnier sheet masks and I’m also trying to use up a pot of Body Shop Himalayan mud mask which seems never to diminish.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 28/10/2021 08:29

@Justilou1 you are a star, thank you.

Experiment627 · 28/10/2021 08:37

@Justilou1 yes! That is the one! I am very careful to only use for the 10 minutes and in fact yesterday all I did was my nose. Wow! Cannot believe it has been banned!

OP posts:
WellTidy · 28/10/2021 10:34

I’ve just bought that red bha peel from The mOrdinary 🤦🏻‍♀️ . I hope my face doesn’t fall off!

Experiment627 · 28/10/2021 11:30

@WellTidy hopefully it won't!!! I watched a video on someone who loved it to begin with but after about 2 months use (once a week) noticed their skin had got worse not better ConfusedConfusedConfused

Anyhoo my video goes live tomorrow about my first experience. I will do a follow up video if warranted in a couple of months.

OP posts:
WellTidy · 28/10/2021 11:35

Yes - Fingers crossed! I will look out for the video.

AprilLady · 28/10/2021 11:57

Really interesting to read these. Sounds like I’m doing the HA acid at the wrong time as I do it just before moisturiser, and I should do it earlier.

I don’t have sensitive skin, and the only thing I have reactions to are strong AHAs; I do still use them sparingly as they seem to help with milia. My skin is not particularly dry, or spotty, so I’m mostly looking to skincare to moisturise without making me over shiny, improve texture (I do have bumps and acne scars from my teenage years) and also to improve appearance of pores.

I have a similar routine to those above - cleanse, tone (something mild), Vit C serum (am); retinol serum (pm), HA, SPF (am), moisturiser. But I also add in a further random serum from my stash, usually one that claims to work miracles but which appears to have no big hitter active ingredients that I can identify. Always hoping that one will actually work wonders!

Despite all the claims, I don’t believe anything improves wrinkles much: a recent product claimed: 15% improvement in fine lines Confused How on earth is this meaured? Fewer lines? Less deep lines? And 15% would in reality mean no visible difference anyway…

NotMyCat · 28/10/2021 12:01

I have some new shelving arriving. I'm a bit of a prepper so if I see say hand wash for 20p or my fave products in TK maxx, I buy them. Let's see how much storage I actually need Blush
I figure if it's all on shelves it's easier to see what I have and use it up!

Justilou1 · 28/10/2021 13:41

@AprilLady - actually couldn’t agree more re wrinkles. The only topical treatment that is actually medically considered anti-aging is tretinoin. I wonder if that is simply the tretinoin itself or the copious amounts of sunscreen also required.
(Regardless, I’ve been using it for years. 😁)

Milia probably best removed by aesthetician or dermatologist and then your skincare routine checked intro to see if that is contributing. They’re tricky little buggers that just don’t want to come to the surface by themselves. Most acids only take off the first couple of layers? Which make them seem smoother, but won’t remove them. A simple extraction with a needle should sort you out

JunieSpoony · 28/10/2021 13:41

My mum is like that, @NotMyCat. When we were growing up we would have massive toilet roll multi packs stashed behind the settee! (They were 9 packs from Asda and everyone else I knew bought 2 or 4 packs. Embarrassing! Grin)

No empties today, a few close to it. But then a couple of parcels arrived...

Penhaligon’s perfume set and Korean stuff influenced by @Justilou1😂
Some stuff for DD, crackers for teacher presents.
The Penhaligon’s came with a cute Ilia mini set. I tried on the lip gloss but it was orange and had a really weird texture so I gave the set to DD. This morning she was wearing a nice new eyeshadow. Turns out it wasn’t lip gloss after all 🤣
